blade or the third prong are provided for

Charging the radio
The DPR 34 features a built in 1800mAH
Lithium rechargeable battery to power the radio.
Before operating the radio for the first time
please fully charge the battery.
The DPR 34 is supplied with a 5V/500 mA
AC adaptor .
1. Insert the adaptor plug into the DC socket on
the right side of your radio. Plug the adaptor
into a standard mains outlet and the radio will
begin charging the built in battery.
Charging time is approx. 4 hours with radio
off and 10 hours with radio on. The battery
power icon on the LCD display will flash
whilst charging and stop flashing when the
radio is fully charged.

The battery run time is approx. 15 hours
listening through the speaker and approx
18 hours with headphones. Reduced power,
distortion, ‘stuttering’ sounds or battery power
indicator in “low” are all signs that the battery
needs to be recharged.
Note:
If charging the radio when the power is off,
the battery power icon does not display on
the LCD.
Headphones
The 3.5 mm stereo headphone socket located
on the top of your radio is provided for use
with stereo headphones or an earpiece.
Connecting headphones automatically mutes
the built in speaker.
Important:
Excessive volume levels from earphones
and headphones may cause damage to
your hearing.

Setting the clock
The DPR 34’s clock will automatically update
each time you turn on the radio and tune to a
DAB+ radio station or to an FM station which
is broadcasting the time via RDS. Time display
will flash 0:00 for a few seconds then display
the clock time when it receives DAB+ or
FM – RDS clock time signal.
Initial operation –
DAB+ (Digital Radio)
This step is only necessary for initial setup –
1. Ensure the battery is fully charged.
2. Fully extend the telescopic antenna.
3. Press the Power button on the left hand side
of your radio.

4. The display will show “Welcome to
Digital Radio” and start to scan the entire
DAB+ channel range and stop at the first
found station. If the radio ha s been
used before, the last used station will
be selected. Press in the tuning/menu jog
wheel to play the station.
5. Turn the jog wheel either up or down to
display station list and find desired station.
Press in the jog wheel to select the station.
The radio will tune to the station and display
the station name.
6. Adjust the volume control for
comfortable listening.

Menu Functions
Press in and hold the jog wheel for 2 seconds
to enter the menu list. The display will first
show DAB a nd <Find Service s>. T urn the jog
wheel up or down and choose from the following
options: ‘Find Services’, ‘Back’, ‘FM mode’,
‘Settings and Favorites’.
A) Find Services –
Press in the tuning/menu jog wheel and turn up
or down to select…
a) Scan –
press in the jog wheel to scan the whole
DAB+ network in your area. Radio will
tune to first station found after the
scanning is completed.
b) Back –
press in the jog wheel to go back
one step.
c) Manual T une –
press in and turn the jog wheel to scroll
the whole station list. Press in the jog
wheel to select desired station.

B) Back –
Press in the jog wheel to go back to current
listening status.
C) FM mode –
Press in the jog wheel to select FM band.
D) Settings –
Press in the jog wheel to select from following
settings options:
a) Auto select –
Press in and turn the jog wheel to select
YES or NO. Default setting is NO.
Press YES and the radio will auto select
and tune to the station shown on the
display within a few seconds.
b) Back –
Press in the jog wheel to go back to
settings menu.

c) SW version –
Press in the jog wheel to view software
version installed in the radio. Press in
the jog wheel again to go back to
Settings menu.
d) Factory reset –
Press in and turn the jog wheel to select
YES or NO. Select YES to erase all
saved settings, station lists and favorites.
All settings will revert to factory default.
e) Set contrast –
Turn and press in the jog wheel to select
required LCD display contrast.
Display contrast will change accordingly.
f) Set backlight –
Press in the jog wheel to select
Backlight Auto.
Select YES and display backlight will auto
shut off 12 seconds after last operation.
Select NO and the display backlight will
remain on.

g) DRC –
Dynamic Range Control (DRC) feature can
make quieter sounds easier to hear,
especially when your radio is used in a
noisy environment.
This function only works within the
DAB+ band.
Press in DRC and turn the jog wheel to
cycle through; DRC off, DRC Low and
DRC High. Press in to select your
preferred option:
DRC off –
DRC is switched off, broadcast DRC will
be ignored.
DRC low –
DRC level is set to 1/2 that sent
by broadcaster.
DRC high –
DRC is set as sent by broadcaster.

h) Service Information –
Press in the jog wheel each time to cycle
through DLS (Radio Text) information.
Options are: back, signal strength,
broadcasting bit rate, frequency, date,
time, ensemble and program type.
i) Sleep –
Use the Sleep menu to set auto shut
off timer. Press in the jog wheel to
cycle through:
Sleep off (auto shut off disabled), 90 min,
60 min, 45 min etc …. Auto shut off timer.
Radio will turn off after selected sleep time
has elapsed.

E) Favorites –
The Favorites menu is used to store and recall
favorite stations. You can store a maximum of
10 stations in the DAB+ band.
Store a station
Tune to a station a s per previous instruction s,
press in jog wheel to allocate Favorites menu.
Press in the jog wheel again to find
“Preset Store”. Turn the jog wheel to allocate
preset number you wish to use (1-10). Press in
the jog wheel and the display will show
“preset x stored”.
Repeat this step to store additional presets
as required.
Stations which have been stored in the preset
favorites list may be overwritten by following the
above procedures.

Recall a station
Press in the jog wheel to find “Preset Recall”.
Turn the jog wheel to find the preset station you
wish to recall. Press in the jog wheel to select.
Operating your radio – FM
1. Turn on the radio by pressing Power button.
Press in jog wheel for 2 seconds to
enter Menu. Turn jog wheel and scroll to FM
Mode and press in to select the FM band.
Searching tuning - FM
1. Turn the jog wheel either down or down until
display shows “scanning”.
2. The radio will search in an upwards or
downwards direction until it finds a station of
sufficient signal strength.

Manual tuning – FM
Turn and rele ase the jog wheel either up or down
to change the frequency in 50 kHz increments
until you find the desired station.
Service information
When listening to an FM radio station with
RDS broadcasting, press in the jog wheel to
cycle through the Radio Text information;
Pty, Audio T ype, Time, Date and Frequency.
Menu
Press in the jog wheel for 2 seconds to enter
FM Menu. Turn the jog wheel either down or
up-down to find Favorites, Back, DAB+ mode
and Settings.
Favorites
The Favorites menu is used to store and recall
favorite stations. You can store a maximum of
10 stations in the FM band.

Turn the jog wheel to select Stereo
allowed or Forced mono.
aa) Press in to select “Stereo allowed”
and the radio will receive FM
stereo broadcasts.
bb) Press in to select Forced mono
to improve reception of a weak
FM signal.

Press in to return to Settings menu.
c) SW version –
Press in jog wheel to view software
version. Press again to return to

radio station RDS service availability).
h) Sleep –
Use the Sleep menu to set auto shut
off timer. Press in the job wheel to
cycle through: 90min, 60min, 45min etc…
Auto shut off timer. Radio will turn off after
selected sleep time has elapsed.
Press in jog wheel to return to previous listening
status once the desired setting changes are
complete.

Key lock function
The key lock function is used to prevent
unintentional operation of the radio.
1. Key lock switch is located on the top panel
of the radio next to headphone socket.
When the key lock switch is set to LOCK,
the power and volume control buttons will
be disabled. Display will show “Key Locked”
for a few seconds.
2. To switch off the key lock function switch the
key lock button to off position. The key lock
function will be disabled.
General
Do not allow this unit to be exposed to water,
stea m, sa nd or other environmental hazards.
Do not leave your radio where excessive heat
could cause damage such as in a parked car
where the heat from the sun can easily build up
to extreme levels.
