Aspect Ratio
The aspect ratio of an image is its displayed width divided by its height (usually
expressed as X:Y). The aspect ratio of most traditional (CRT) television screens
are 4:3, while high definition (HD) television and most flat screen televisions use
an aspect ratio of 16:9. Use this option to select the aspect ratio best suited to
your television
View Mode
The View Mode determines the way that you will see the image on your screen.
The following options are available:
Fill: This will scale the image up/down horizontally and vertically
respectively in order to fill the height and width of the screen.
Original: This fits the original screen size (only valid for DivX and MPEG).
LetterBox: Refers to the image of a wide-screen picture on a standard 4:3
aspect ratio television screen, typically with black bars above and
below. It is used to maintain the original aspect ratio of the
original source (usually a motion picture of 16:9 aspect ratio or
wider). This setting takes the minimum value of the horizontal
fit scale ratio and determines the vertical fit scale ratio.
Pan Scan: A method of adjusting widescreen film images so that they can
be shown within the proportions of an ordinary 4:3 aspect ratio
television screen, cropping off the sides of the original
widescreen image to focus on the composition's most important
aspects. If 16:9 is selected on 4:3 aspect ratio television, 16:9
content will appear distorted during playback (objects look thin).
NOTE: The View Mode can also be modified by pressing the Mode button on the remote control while watching video.
TV System
Use this option to select your TV system: PAL or NTSC.
