Installing the battery

Basics

Charging the battery

Charge the battery before using it for the first time or when it has been unused for extended periods.

Use only Samsung-approved chargers, batteries, and cables. Unapproved chargers or cables can cause the battery to explode or damage the device.

2 Plug the USB power adaptor into an electric socket.

3After fully charging, disconnect the device from the charger. First unplug the charger from the device, and then unplug it from the electric socket.

Do not remove the battery before removing the charger. This may damage the device.

To save energy, unplug the charger when not in use. The charger does not have a power switch, so you must unplug the charger from the electric socket when not in use to avoid wasting power. The charger should remain close to the electric socket and easily accessible while charging.

Viewing the remaining charging time

While charging, open the Home screen and tap Apps Settings Battery.

Reducing the battery consumption

Your device provides various options that help you conserve battery power.

Battery charging tips and precautions

rWhen the battery power is low, the battery icon appears empty.

rIf the battery is completely discharged, the device cannot be turned on immediately when the charger is connected. Allow a depleted battery to charge for a few minutes before turning on the device.

rIf you use multiple apps at once, network apps, or apps that need a connection to

another device, the battery will drain quickly. To avoid disconnecting from the network or losing power during a data transfer, always use these appsFinalafter fully charging the battery.

Using a power source other than the charger, such as a computer, may result in slower

charging speed due to a lower electric current.r

rThe device can be used while it is charging, but it may take longer to fully charge the battery.

rIf the device receives an unstable power supply while charging, the touchscreen may not function. If this happens, unplug the charger from the device.

rWhile charging, the device and the charger may heat up. This is normal and should not affect the device’s lifespan or performance. If the battery gets hotter than usual, the charger may stop charging.

rIf the device is not charging properly, take the device and the charger to a Samsung Service Centre.

PowerDRAFT,saving mode

Save the battery power by limiting the device’s functions.

On the Home screen, tap pps Settings Battery Power saving mode, and then tap the switch to activate it.

To automatically activate power saving mode when the remaining battery power reaches the preset level, tap Start power saving and select an option.

Ultra power saving mode

Use this mode to extend the device’s battery power. In ultra power saving mode, the device performs the following:

rRestricts the available apps to essential and selected apps only.

rDeactivates the mobile data connection when the screen turns off.

rDeactivates the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth features.

On the Home screen, tap Apps Settings Battery Ultra power saving mode, and then tap the switch to activate it.

To deactivate ultra power saving mode, tap MORE Turn off Ultra power s ving mode.

The usage time left shows the time remaining before the battery power runs out. Usage time left may vary depending on your device sett ngs a d operating conditions.

Installing the SIM or USIM card

Insert theDRAFT,r SIM or USIM card provided by the mobile telephone service provider. Only microSIM cards work with the device.

r In some areas, data transfer speeds may be slower if two SIM cards are inserted in the device than when one SIM card is inserted.

r Some LTE services may not be available depending on the service provider. For more information about service availability, contact your service provider.

Switching between cards

Basics

Using dual SIM or USIM cards

If you insert two SIM or USIM cards, you can have two phone numbers or service providers for a single device.

Activating SIM or USIM cards

On the Home screen, tap Apps Settings SIM card manager. Select a SIM or USIM card and tap the switch to activate it.

If both cards are activated, you can receive calls and messages on each card. However, if you are on a call using one card, the other card cannot be used to receive new

calls. These situations apply to voice calls only. Data calls or video calls m y perform differently.

Changing the display name and icon of SIM or USIM cards

On the Home screen, tap Apps Settings SIM card manager. Select a SIM or USIM card,

and tap Name or Icon. Set a display name and icon f r each card.

Memory card

Installing a memory card

Your device accepts memory cards with maximum capacities of 128 GB. Depending on the memory card manufacturer and type, some memory cards may not be compatible with your device.

r Some memory cards may not be fully compatible withFinalthe device. Using an

incompatible card may damage the device or the memory card, or corrupt the data stored in it.

r The device supports the FAT and the exFAT file systems for memory cards. When inserting a card formatted in a different file system, the device asks to reformat the memory card.

rFrequent writing and erasing of data shortens he lifespan of memory cards.

rWhen inserting a memory card into the device, the memory card’s file directory appears in the My Files SD card folder.

Removing the memory card

Before removing the memory card, first unmount it for safe removal.

On the Home screen, tap Apps Settings Storage Unmount SD card.

Turning the device on and off

Press and hold the Power key for a few seconds to turn on the device.

When you turn on your device for the first time or after performing a data reset, follow the onscreen instructions to set up your device.

To turn off the device, press and hold the Power key, and then tap Power off.

rIf your device is frozen and unresponsive, press and hold the Power key and the Volume key down simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it.

rFollow all posted warnings and directions from authorised personnel in areas where the use of wireless devices is restricted, such as aeroplanes and hospitals.

Touchscreen

r Do not allow the touchscreen to come into contact with other electrical devices. Electrostatic discharges can cause the touchscreen to malfunction.

rTo avoid damaging the touchscreen, do not tap it with anything sharp or apply excessive pressure to it with your fingertips.

rThe device may not recognise touch inputs close to the edges of the screen, which

are outside of the touch input area.

r It is recommended to use fingers when you use the touchscreen.
