•You can select only Wide, Normal(4:3) screen size in the Component Mode.
• Screen size can’t be changed in the DVI and PC (1080i) mode.
•You can select Wide(TV), Wide(PC) screen size in the DVI and PC (720p) Mode.
•You can select Wide(TV), Wide(PC), Normal(4:3) screen size in the DVI and PC (480p) Mode.
• If you set PIP ON in any mode (Normal, Panorama, Zoom1, Zoom2) except Wide, the mode will automatically change to Wide.
Special Audio Options
MTS Settings: Choosing a Soundtrack
Depending on the particular program being broadcast, you can listen to stereo, mono, or a Separate Audio Program. (SAP audio is usually a foreign-language translation. Sometimes SAP has unrelated information like news or weather.)
Press the Menu button. Move the joystick down to select

Guide to MTS Settings
• Choose Stereo for channels that are broadcasting in stereo.
• Choose Mono for channels that are broadcasting in mono, or if you are having difficulty receiv­ing a stereo signal.
• Choose SAP to listen to the Separate Audio Program, which is usually a foreign-language trans­lation.

Dolby Virtual
This feature allows the TV’s L/R speakers to provide a home Theater-like Dolby effect. The center and surround sounds are mixed into the L/R speakers.

Auto Volume
Each broadcasting station has its own signal conditions, and it is inconvenient to adjust the volume every time the channel is changed. “Auto volume” automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel by lowering the sound output when the modulation signal is high or by raising the sound output when the modulation signal is low.

Viewing Closed Caption Information
Your TV decodes and displays the closed captions information that is broadcast along with some television shows. These captions are usually subtitles for the hearing impaired or translations into other languages. All VCRs record the closed caption signal from television programs, so pre­recorded video tapes can also deliver closed-caption information. Check for the closed caption symbol ( ) on the tape’s package or your TV program-schedule.

on/off. Misspelling and unusu­al characters sometimes occur in closed caption transmis­sions, especially those of live events. There may be a small delay before captions appear when you change channels. (These do not indicate the TV is malfunctioning.) Move the joystick down to select the “Mode”. Move the joystick right or left to choose “Caption” or “Text.” ln caption mode, cap­tions appear at the bottom of the screen, and they usually cover only a small portion of the picture. In text mode, information unrelated to the program, such as news or weather, is displayed. Text often covers a large portion of the screen.
If you wish, use the joystick button to change the
captioning channel or field. Then, press Menu to

return to normal viewing. Different channels and fields display different information. For example, Channel 1 may have subtitles in English, while Channel 2 has subtitles in Spanish.
NOTE
• The Caption function doesn’t operate in Zoom1, Zoom2.

Viewing Picture-in-Picture
One of the most best features of your TV is the Picture-in-Picture (PIP) feature. The advanced PIP system allows you to watch two different pictures at once, even if you don’t have a VCR connect­ed to your TV.
Selecting a PIP Screen
Press the Menu button. Move
the joystick down to select PIP,

then press the joystick to enter. Quick way to access PIP: Just press “PIP” on the remote control.
Move the joystick right to select PIP “On”. The PIP

image will appear in the corner of the screen.
Press Menu to exit.

Selecting an External Signal
You can use PIP to view a signal from an external source, such as a VCR.
Press the Menu button. Move
the joystick down to select

PIP, then press the joystick to enter. Quick way to access PIP source: Just press “Source” on the remote control.
Move the joystick down to select “Source”.

to select an external signal.

You can choose between “TV”, “Video 1~3”, or “S-Video 1~3”.
The signal from these inputs will not appear if you have not connected any equipment to the TV’s input jacks. For more information about external signals, see “Viewing an External Signal Source” (See page 41).
If you select “TV.” the PIP image is the same as the
main image.
Press Menu to exit.

• Picture-in-Picture doesn’t function when the V-chip is active.
• If you turn the TV off while watching and turn it on again, then the mode will return to normal video.
• Screen size can’t be changed in the PIP mode.

Selecting a Signal Source (Antenna or Cable) for PIP
If the PIP source is TV during PIP ON, you can select the broadcasting source of PIP picture sepa­rately from the main picture. (If the main picture is ANT-B and the broadcasting sources are differ­ent, making adjustments is necessary.)
Press the Menu button. Move the joystick down to select

PIP, then press the joystick to enter.

If an antenna is connected, the setting is “AIR.” If a Cable

TV system is providing the sig­nal, move the joystick to the left or right until the appropri­ate type of cable system is displayed (“STD,” “HRC,” or “IRC”).

Swapping the Contents of the PIP and Main image
Press the Menu button. Move the joystick down to select
