Introduction

This TV has functionality that lets it interact with a set-back box (SBB/STB) and with other TVs in a computer-controlled system for hotels and other hospitality businesses. Interactive : When the TV is powered-up initially, it sends a command to identify the connected SBB/STB. If it identiﬁes the SBB/STB, the TV switches to ONLINE mode which gives full control of the TV to the SBB/STB. When the TV is in ONLINE mode, it stops accepting IR (Samsung remote) commands and acts according to the interface protocol. Stand-Alone: If you are not using an SBB/STB and the TV cannot or does not identify an SBB/STB, you should switch the TV to STAND-ALONE mode with restricted operation.

Operational Modes

When this TV is in Hotel mode and is operated with an SBB/STB, it is in one of two states: ONLINE or STAND-ALONE

• In the STAND-ALONE state, the TV will act as a Hotel TV, but without active communication. This is to prevent guests from trying to cheat the system by disconnecting the SBB/STB.

• You can restrict all (or some) operations to prevent guests from "cheating" the TV system.

• You can can set Volume limits and lock or unlock the Panel buttons.

Still image warning

Avoid displaying still images (such as jpeg picture ﬁles) or still image elements (such as TV channel logos, panorama or 4:3 format images, stock or news bars or crawls) on the screen. Displaying still pictures continually can cause uneven screen wear, which will affect image quality. To reduce the chance that this effect will occur, please follow the recommendations below:

• Avoid displaying the same TV channel for long periods.

• Always try to display a full screen image.

• Reduce brightness and contrast to help to prevent the occurrence of after-images.

• Use all TV features designed to reduce image retention and screen burn-in. Refer to the proper user manual section for details.

Ensuring Proper Ventilation

When you install the TV, maintain the distances shown below between the TV and other objects ((walls, cabintet sides, etc.) to ensure proper ventilation. Failing to do so may result in a ﬁre or problems with the TV caused by an increase in its internal temperature.

When using a stand or wall-mount, use parts provided by Samsung Electronics only.

y Make sure to distinguish between the front and back of the Stand and Stand Guide when connecting them. y Make sure that at least two people lift and move the TV. y When placing the product on a console or shelf, make sure that the stand does not protrude out of the console or shelf.

Using the TV's Controller

The TV's Controller, a small joy stick like button on the bottom right side of the TV, lets you control the T V without the remote control.

Open Smart Hub.

Open the menu. Select a source.

When you use the Smart Touch Control, the standby LED does not respond, except when you press the

button.

Power on Turn the TV on by pressing the Controller when the TV is in standby mode.

Adjust the volume by moving the Controller from side to side when the power is on.

Select a channel by moving the Controller backwards and forwards when the power is on.

To view and use the Function menu, press and release the Controller when the power is on. To close the Function menu, press and release the Controller again.

Selecting the MENU (m)

With the Function menu visible, select the MENU (

) by moving the Controller to the left. The OSD (On Screen Display) Menu appears. Select an option by moving the Controller to the right. Move the Controller to the right or left, or backwards and forwards to make additional selections. To change a parameter, select the it, and then press the Controller.

Selecting the SMART HUB (™)

With the Function menu visible, select SMART HUB (™) by moving the Controller upwards. The SMART HUB main screen appears. Select an application by moving the Controller, and then pressing the Controller.

Selecting a Source (

With the Function menu visible, open the Source screen (s) by pushing the Controller to the right. The Source screen appears. To select a source, move the Controller back and forth. When the source you want is highlighted, press the Controller.

Power Off (P) With the Function menu visible, select Power Off (P) by pulling the Controller

forwards, and then press the Controller.

To close the Menu, SMART HUB, or Source, press the Controller for more than 1 second.

Standby mode

Your TV enters Standby mode when you turn it off, and continues to consume a small amount of electric power. To be safe and to decrease power consumption, do not leave your TV in standby mode for long periods of time (when you are away on vacation, for example). It is best to unplug the power cord.

Whenever you connect an external device to your TV, make sure that power on the T V and the device is turned off.

When connecting an external device, match the color of the connection terminal to the cable.

No sound connection is needed for an HDMI to HDMI connection. HDMI connections carry both audio and video.

Use the HDMI IN 2(DVI) jack for a DVI connection to an external device. Use a DVI to HDMI cable or DVI-HDMI adapter (DVI to HDMI) for the video connection and the PC/DVI AUDIO IN jacks for audio.

Installing batteries (Battery size: AAA)

Match the polarity of the batteries to the symbols in the battery compartment.

After you have installed the batteries, use a screwdriver to screw in the screw that holds the battery cover closed.

Connecting to the TV

In order to operate the TV using a Smart Touch Control, you must ﬁ rst pair it to the TV via Bluetooth. However, the Smart Touch Control is only available for the paired Samsung TV.

1. To turn on the TV, point the Smart Touch Control at the remote control receiver of the TV and press the P button.

The remote control receiver's location may vary depending on the model.

2. A Bluetooth icon will appear at the bottom left of the screen as shown below. The TV will then attempt to connect to the Smart Touch Control automatically.

Inserting the Batteries (AAA X 2)

1. Slightly lift the battery cover by pulling the strap or by inserting a plastic card (e.g. a credit card) into the notch on

the side of the remote and twisting the card slightly. Next, grasp the loosened cover in one hand and the top of the remote in the other and gently pull them apart.

2. Insert 2 AAA batteries, making sure to align the positive and negative ends correctly.

3. Align the battery cover with the back of the remote control, and then press down along the edges until it is

completely attached to the remote control.

Low Battery Power Warning

If the battery becomes low while using the Smart Touch Control, the following alarm window appears at the bottom of

the left screen. If the alarm window pops up, replace the batteries of the Smart Touch Control. Use alkaline batteries for longer usage.

Using the touch pad

Use the touch pad to implement various commands. Navigate to Tutorial (System > Device Manager > Smart Touch Control Settings > Tutorial) to view an on-screen guide to using the Smart Touch Control.

Dragging Tap

Drag on the touch pad to move the focus, pointer, or highlight in the

direction the ﬁnger is dragging.

Press the touch pad to select the item highlighted or in focus.

When watching TV, press and hold the touch pad for 2 seconds displays

the channel list. On some apps, press and hold the touch pad for 2

seconds displays a list of functions available for the app.

Show Status and Notiﬁcation Banner

Press the MORE button on the Smart Touch Control and then select STATUS on the virtual remote panel that appears on the screen. The status and alarm banner appears at the top of the screen. For more information about using the

Using the Virtual Remote Panel

Press the MORE button to display the virtual remote panel on the TV screen. The virtual remote panel consists of the number panel, a playback control panel, and the quick access panel. Use the touch pad to highlight and select icons, numbers, and buttons on the panels.

Changing the Virtual Remote Panel

You can change which virtual remote panel is displayed on the TV screen. To shift between panels, move the focus highlight beyond the left or right edge of the displayed panel.

Use left/right scroll function on the touchpad to change the panel easily.

Using the Number Panel

Use the number panel to enter numbers on a keypad screen or webpage or to change the channel while watching TV. Changing the channel using the number pad leaves a record, allowing you to easily return to previous channels.

Using the Playback Control Panel

Use the playback control panel to pause, rewind, fast forward, skip to the next ﬁle, select a function with the a, b, {, } buttons, and much more while enjoying media content.

Using the Quick Access Panel

Use the buttons on the quick access panel to bring up the TV's MENU, INFO screens. Note that the buttons that appear may vary depending on the operating mode of the Smart Touch Control (with the TV only, as a universal remote, etc.).

Connecting to the Network

You can set up your TV so that it can access the SMART TV applications through your local area network (LAN) using a wired or wireless connection.

After you have “physically” connected your TV to your network, you must configure the network connection to complete the process. You can configure the connection during the Initial Setup process (see page 35) or after the Initial Setup process, through the TV’s menu.

This TV supports the IEEE 802.11a/b/g and n communication protocols. Samsung recommends using IEEE 802.11n. When you play video over a network connection, the video may not play smoothly.

Most wireless network systems incorporate a security system that requires devices that access the network through an access point or AP (typically a wireless IP Sharer - router or modem) to transmit an encrypted security code called an access key.

Your TV is compatible with the following security protocols:

y Authentication Mode: OPEN, SHARED, WPAPSK, WPA2PSK y Encryption Type: WEP, TKIP, AES

In compliance with the newest Wi-Fi certiﬁcation speciﬁcations, Samsung TVs do not support WEP or TKIP security encryption in networks running in the 802.11n mode.
