• Conversion ft-in to metric
MEASUREMENT REFERENCE
• Press “SET” button to select measurement
base: top or bottom of case.
•To change from feet to meters, or vice versa, press the “set” and “X/=” button simultaneously.
NOTE:
The
MeasureTech™
measurement unit is
defaulted in ft-in.
MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES
• Select the measurement reference.
• Point the unit perpendicular to the target. The laser will show where the estimator is pointed and is on only while a reading is being taken. Caution: Do not stare into Laser beam. Hold unit with beam above or below eye level.
• Press the “READ” button to take the measurement.
• Hold the “READ” button for continuous measurement.
Finding square footage/meters and cubic footage meters
• After taking initial measurement, press the “X/=” key. Take the second measurement and again press the “X/=’’ key. LCD display will show “SQ.M”. Take a third measurement and again press “X/=” key. LCD display will show “cu.ft”. or “cu.m”.

HINTS
• Any large obstacle found within + 5° for the viewing angle of the unit might be regarded as the target.
• Large, flat, hard surfaces usually give more accurate results.
•To measure small, irregular or soft objects, place a piece of cardboard in front of the object.
• Change of measurement base does not affect old
readings.
• The unit cannot measure through glass.
ERROR DISPLAY
The unit will give inaccurate readings if:
• The battery runs out of power
• The distance to be measured is less than 2’ (0.6m) or
• There is another ultrasonic source in the vicinity.
“ERROR” will be displayed if the reflected ultrasonic pulses are not strong enough.
This may happen when:
-The measuring distance is out of working range.
-The target is not a good ultrasonic reflector
(e.g. thick carpet, irregular wall paper, etc.)
-The unit of the multiplication result is higher than cube.
INSTALLING THE BATTERY
• Slide back of unit off to replace battery.
• Snap 9-V battery into compartment, terminal side first, matching (+) and (-) terminals from battery to case.
• Replace the back by sliding into grooves. Alkaline battery life is approximately 7000 measurements.
• The battery should be replaced when battery indicator is on.
CAUTIONS
SPECIFICATIONS
• Class II Laser Module 650 mm.
• Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, high temperature, high humidity, excess dust, or
mechanical shock.
• When the unit is not to be used for a long
period, remove the battery to avoid damage
from possible battery leakage.

• Battery: 9 Volt
• Size: 4.84”X2.36”X1.54”:
(123 mm X 60 mm X 39 mm)
•Weight (Without Battery):
Approx. 3.14 oz(88g) (*)For measuring long distance from 40 ft
to 50 ft (2m to 15m), the relative humidity should be 50% or above and target size should be at least 10 ft. by 10 ft (3m by 3m).
Situations Possible Causes Solutions
Inaccurate readings of distance
• Battery runs out of power
• Measured distance is < 2’ or > 50’
(< 0.6m or > 15m).
• Another ultrasonic source is nearby
LCD displays “Error”
Measured distance is < 2’ or > 50’
(< 0.6m or > 15m).
The target is not a good ultrasonic
reflector. (e.g. thick carpet, irregular wallpaper, etc.).
The unit points to the target ob-
liquely.
• Computation is out of the specified range.
WARNING: To avoid risk of eye injury, do not stare directly into beam. Never point the beam into anyone’s
eyes. Do not permit children to use this device. It is not a toy.
• Replace new battery
• Make sure measured distance is within range
• Remove the ultrasonic source and try again.
• Make sure mearured distance is within range.
• Place a piece of cardboard in front of target.
• Make sure computation is within range.
