Subject: Redirect Feature

The RSX 1055 Surround Sound Receiver includes the ability to customize
amplification in a 6.1 or 7.1 system. It is possible to connect a more powerful amplifier
for the Front Main speakers while the front channels of the RSX 1055 are “redirected”
to power the Center Back speaker(s) in the system. The Redirect function is
accomplished with both Physical Connections and On-Screen Configuration
read through these instructions before attempting the process and Verify Operation
when complete.

NOTE: This procedure should be done before all other calibration or adjustments as a
reset to Factory Default is required.

Physical Connections:

• All other system connections should be complete.

• Connect the Front Left and Right PREOUT of the RSX 1055 to the external

amplifier inputs for the Main speakers.

• Connect the Center Back speakers to the FRONT/CB speaker terminals of the
RSX 1055 (connect a single speaker to the L/1 terminals).

On-Screen Configuration:

• With the video monitor and receiver turned on, press the “M” key on the RR 969 or
RR 1050 remote control to display SYSTEM STATUS.

• From SYSTEM STATUS, press the “ENT” key on the remote to access the MAIN
MENU.

• Press the “+” and “DWN” arrow keys on the remote to access the DEFAULT menu.

• Press the “DWN” arrow key to select the REDIRECT setting.

• Press the “+” arrow key to change the REDIRECT setting from FRONT to CENTER

BACK.

• Press the “DWN” arrow key to select FACTORY DEFAULT.

• Press the “+” arrow key to change the FACTORY DEFAULT to Yes.

• Press the “ENT” key to engage the factory default, which will finalize the redirect

setting. The unit will power off briefly, then power on automatically in the new
factory default configuration including redirected center back channel(s).

Verify Operation:

• Set the surround mode of the RSX 1055 to Dolby Pro Logic II by remote or front
panel control.

• Access the Test Tones menu by remote control.

• Ensure that the test tone is presented at the appropriate speaker and if not, repeat

the above procedure or contact your Rotel dealer.

Continue to make full calibration and system adjustments using the OSD menus.

To return the RSX 1055 back to its original channel settings, repeat the above
procedure, changing the REDIRECT setting to FRONT instead of CENTER BACK.
