Thank you for purchasing the Roland Drum Stand MDS-12.

Before using this unit, carefully read the sections entitled: “USING THE UNIT SAFELY” and “IMPORTANT NOTES.”
These sections provide important information concerning the proper operation of the unit. Additionally, in order to
feel assured that you have gained a good grasp of every feature provided by your new unit, Owner’s manual should
be read in its entirety. The manual should be saved and kept on hand as a convenient reference.
How to Set Up the Stand

Loosen the two “A” Hand Knobs and open the stand
legs.
Loosen the one “B” Hand Knob and pull the snare
pipe into position.
Take the Pad Mounts (C, 4 sets), Cymbal Mounts (D,
2 sets), and Sound Module Mount (E, 1 set) out of the
box.

Attach them to the stand as shown in the figure.

Use the four Hand Knobs (A x 2, B, and F) to adjust
the degree of opening the stand legs, height of the
snare pipe, and horizontal pipe for the floor toms.

After finishing the adjustment, make sure to tighten
all the Hand Knobs completely.
* Regarding the way of mounting a Sound Module, Pads, or
Cymbals, please refer to the Owner’s Manual supplied with
them.

Caution in Setting Up the Stand

• Do NOT open the legs of the stand more than 135
degrees. The distance between the back Right/Left
end legs should NOT be more than 1.5 m (60 inches),
otherwise, the cable (inside the Pipes) could be
damaged and/or the stand could tip over.

• Do NOT loosen any bolts other than Hand Knobs
except when changing the parts or cables for repairing.

• If the bolts of the clamp (T-fitting) become loose,

tighten them with the included drum key in the order
of 1, 2, 3 as embossed. (see the right figure.)
The MDS-12 is designed for right-handed drummers.
When a left-hander uses it, the pipes and cables are different in setting.
If you wish to make left-handed set up, contact your retailer, the nearest Roland Service Center, or an authorized Roland distributor.

How to Connect the Cables
The pre-installed cables in the pipes and the marking labels, make it easy to set up the stand and connect the sound module and pads
quickly.
Connecting Example (for TD-12)

Insert the plugs of connecting cables into the TRIGGER INPUT jacks on the rear of the sound module.
Insert the other plugs (opposite ends) into the TRIGGER OUTPUT jacks of the pads.

* When connecting the cables, please refer to the marking labels that are attached to both ends of the cables.

* When changing the cable marking labels, please use the included Cable Marking Label Sheet.
* Do not pull or stretch the cables too tight.

Three more pads can be added using the cables marked “CR2,” “AX1,” and “AX2.” These three cables are
jack type so please use the regular cables supplied with your pads or cymbals to connect them.
