The R&S®HA-Z5M LO/IF Line Extender is especially designed for Rohde & Schwarz
external mixers and signal and spectrum analyzers.

2 Preparing for use
The R&S®HA-Z5M is designated for use in industrial, administrative, and laboratory
environments. Use the R&S®HA-Z5M only for its designated purpose. Observe the
usage instructions documented in this manual, as well as operating conditions and performance limits stated in the data sheet. The product documentation helps you use the
R&S®HA-Z5M safely and efficiently. Keep the product documentation in a safe place
and pass it on to subsequent users.

Before use, inspect the connectors of the R&S®HA-Z5M for damage. If there is any
damage, contact Rohde & Schwarz for repair.

Always use an appropriate torque wrench when connecting the R&S®HA-Z5M
cables to an instrument to avoid excessive force.
3 Measurement setup
Connect the R&S®HA-Z5M to the R&S spectrum analyzer and the R&S FS-Zxx external mixer as shown below. Use an appropriate torque wrench when connecting the
cables.

To run the measurement with the R&S®HA-Z5M, use the same settings on the spectrum analyzer as in a measurement with an external mixer that is connected with the
standard 1m cables.
