Rocktron Buzz Kill User Manual

Rocktron Buzz Kill Instructions
The Rocktron Buzz Kill AC HUM Exterminator Audio Isolation Transformer is designed to kill 60Hz/120Hz ground hum (BUZZ) by cutting the ground loop that can exist between audio products such as guitar rack systems, pro audio products, mixers, etc. This is done automatically inside the Buzz Kill without effecting your tone or degrading your signal.
If you have other noise in your system not caused by a ground loop (like overly noisey distortion pedals, audio interaction with single coil pickups, etc) we suggest looking into the Rocktron HUSH line of products. For more information on the Rocktron HUSH products see www.rocktron. com.
Once you have detected a ground loop issue with your system to ex-
terminate it you must rst nd the connection causing the issue. First
start with one unit at a time until you have found the unit(s) causing the ground loop. Insert the Buzz Kill using the Inputs and Outputs inbetween the offending units. Here is an example of a simple connection between a preamp and a power that might be causing a ground loop hum:
Note that you should not use the Buzz Kill after a power amplier as it could
possibly damage your equipment.
The Buzz Kill has many other applications for breaking ground loops caused by anteenae from cross signal lines. When performing live in many places all over the world you never know if the wiring in the venue is old and/or susseptible to picking up noise from other sources or the venue’s grounding is comprimised.
Keep an extra Buzz Kill with you as a simple and cost affective way to break the ground loops that may come across in performing at different venues.
Your BUZZ KILL™ has been tested and complies with the following Standards and Directives as set forth by the European Union:
Council Directive(s): 89/336/EEC Electromagnetic Compatibility Standard(s): EN55013, EN50082-1
This means that this product has been designed to meet stringent guidelines on how much RF energy it can emit, and that it should be immune from other sources of interference when properly used. Improper use of this equipment could result in increased RF emissions, which may or may not interfere with other electronic products.
To insure against this possibility, always use good shielded cables for all audio input and output connections. This will help insure compliance with the Directive(s).
