General Safety Information
WARNING! Read and understand all instructions. Failure
to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious personal injury.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
Work Area Safety
Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered benches and dark areas may cause accidents.
Do not operate tools in explosive atmospheres,
such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or heavy dust. Tools create sparks which may
ignite the dust or fumes.
Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Do not let visitors contact the tool or extension cord. Such preventative measures reduce the risk of injury.
Electrical Safety
Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet, properly installed and grounded in accordance with all codes and ordinances. Safe operation of this system requires the supply/building power be properly connected. Never remove the grounding prong or modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. If the tool should electrically mal-
function or break down, grounding provides a low resistance path to carry electricity away from the user.
Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electrical shock if your body is grounded.
Do not expose electrical tools to rain or wet con- ditions. Water entering a tool will increase the risk of electrical shock.
Do not abuse cord. Never use the cord to carry the
tool or pull the plug from an outlet. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts.
Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged
cords increase the risk of electrical shock.
When operating a power tool outside, use an out-
door extension cord marked “W-A” or “W
. These
cords are rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electrical shock.
Connect the tool to an AC power supply that matches the name plate specification. Incorrect voltage supply can cause electrical shock or burns.
Use only three-wire extension cords which have
three-prong grounding plugs, and three-pole receptacles which accept the tools plug. Use of other
extension cords will not ground the tool properly and increase the risk of electrical shock.
Use proper extension cords. (See chart.) Insufficient conductor size will cause excessive voltage drop and loss of power.
Keep all electrical connections dry and off the
ground. Do not touch plugs or tool with wet hands.
This reduces the risk of electrical shock.
• The Monitor
+
VCR incorporates a circuit breaker that is
NOT user serviceable.
Personal Safety
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use tool while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medications. A moment of inattention
while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jew-
elry. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jew-
elry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
Avoid accidental starting. Be sure switch is OFF be- fore plugging in. Carrying tools with your finger on the switch or plugging tools in that have the switch ON may cause accidents.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and bal- ance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations.

Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions.
Gloves should always be worn for health and safety reasons. Sewer lines are unsanitary and may
contain harmful bacteria.
Do not place this product on any unstable cart or surface. The product may fall causing personal in-
jury and/or damage to the product.
Prevent object and liquid entry. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product. Never push objects of any
kind into this product through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short to parts that could result in a fire or electrical shock.
Tool Use and Care
Do not hose off. Use only a damp rag to clean.
Provide proper cleaning. Unplug this product from the
wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
Do not use tool if switch does not turn it ON or OFF. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch
is dangerous and must be repaired.
Store idle tools out of the reach of children and other untrained persons. Tools are dangerous in
the hands of untrained users.
Maintain tools with care. Properly maintained tools are less likely to cause injury.
Check for breakage of parts, and any other conditions that may affect the tool’s operation. If damaged,
have the tool serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained tools.
Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your tool. Accessories that may be
suitable for one tool may become hazardous when used on another tool.
Inspect tool and extension cords periodically and replace if damaged. Damaged cords increase the risk
of electrical shock.
Keep handles dry and clean; free from oil and grease. Allows for better control of the tool.
Store tools in dry place. Such measures reduce the risk of electrical shock.
Protect against lightning. For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet. This will prevent damage
to the product due to lightning and power surges.
Protect against excessive heat. The product should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other products (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
Service
Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed
by unqualified repair personnel could result in injury.
When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to
follow maintenance instructions may create a risk of electrical shock or injury.
Follow instructions for changing accessories. Ac- cidents are caused by poorly maintained tools.

5. Turn the Power Supply ON. Be sure to first press the reset button on the GFCI, or there will be no power to the system. You should now have a picture on the screen. If you have nothing on the monitor and the power switch is illuminated (steady light), check to see
that the switch on the monitor is on. If the picture does not look perfect, you can adjust the contrast, brightness, and horizontal/vertical hold on your monitor as well as the brightness on the camera head LED lighting using the dimmer/transmitter knob on the power supply.
NOTE! If your system is equipped with a SeeSnake
CountIR distance measuring device and you want to achieve maximum accuracy, place the camera head in the reels guide hoop before turning the power on, and leave it there until the CountIRs start-up screen disappears. See the CountIR Operators Guide for details.
NOTE! If the system is not hooked up completely (for ex-
ample, systems cable not plugged in or camera head removed) the light on the power supply will flash “S-O-S”. The monitor will also give indication of improper set-up by displaying “No Cam” or “No Dub.” A steady power switch light indicates that the system is properly hooked up and ready for video inspection. A slow ON and OFF flashing indicates the dimmer/transmitter knob is fully counter-clockwise – in transmitter mode.
6. When turning the system off, only the switch on the power supply needs to be turned OFF. It is not necessary to turn off the monitor or VCR separately.
Camera Inspection
1. Put the camera head in the line and adjust the LEDs to the desired brightness by turning the dimmer/transmitter knob. If the picture does not look perfect, you can adjust the contrast, brightness, and horizontal/vertical hold on your monitor.
2. Proceed with pipe inspection as described in your SeeSnake®manual, adjusting the LEDs and monitor settings as necessary.

Audio Recording
Audio recording can be done with the internal handsfree microphone or a Keyed Microphone (not included).
1. Make sure the Volume/Audio OFF knob is not in the AUDIO OFF position (fully counter-clockwise). This knob can be anywhere in the red band area for Audio Recording. The red audio LED to the lower left of the hands-free microphone will be illuminated when the knob is not in the OFF position.
2. Begin recording on the VCR as described above.
3. To record all audio during the recording process, make sure the red LED to the lower left of the handsfree microphone is illuminated. To record, simply speak toward the unit. All audio will be recorded. If you do not want any audio to be recorded, turn the Volume Control/Audio OFF knob to the OFF position.
4. If you do not want to record all audio, or you want to eliminate background noise, plug a keyed hand held microphone (not included) into the keyed microphone jacks below the Volume Control/Audio OFF knob. The audio LED will go out until the keyed microphone is activated.
NOTE! The LED to the left of the “hands-free” microphone
will not be illuminated until the keyed microphone is activated by depressing the key on the side of the microphone.
NOTE! The audio LED to the lower left of the “hands-free”
microphone has three settings: OFF: Volume/Audio OFF knob is in the OFF posi-
tion or keyed microphone is plugged in and not activated. No Audio will be recorded.
DIM: Unit is ready to record, but not picking up
strong audio signal.
Bright Red: Unit is recording strong audio signal
with “hands-free” microphone or activated keyed microphone.
