Problem
If the power is turned on when the front cover is open, the front cover is then closed and
the start key is pressed, SC440 occurs.
Cause
Due to the change to the inner circu it of the main motor to improve the reliability of the
motor, the current software cannot recognize this modified mo tor correctly, resulting in the
SC440 display.

To reduce no-feed jams from the duplex unit caused by insufficient pressure from the
bottom plate, the shape of the spring clutch has been changed. To distinguish between the
old and new clutches, the colour of the sleeve has been changed from white to blue.
The insufficient pressure occurs when the clutch turns in the direction which tightens the
spring because the sleeve hits the spring hook. As a result, the spring cannot turn
completely, so the bottom plate cannot be lifted up to the highest position.
To prevent the sleeve from hitting the spring hook, 4.5 mm has been cut from the sleeve
as shown.

Since the cleaning roller bracket (P/N: A2044270) and the stripper pawl bracket are
attached to the front and rear side plates with screws, the front and/or rear side plate(s)
may lean to the inside. This may cause a knocking/clicking noise. To keep both the side
plates in the proper position, one of the screws which secures the cleaning roller bracket
has been changed to a stepped screw. Because of this change, the screw hole in the front
side plate has changed from f4 to f5. Also, the screw hole shape of the stripper pawl
bracket has been changed from a circular hole to a long hole.
