Firmware
Interchangeability of the scanner IPU board and the main control board
The new firmware (scanner and main) is not interchangeable with the older version. However, the interchangeability of the scanner IPU board and main control board (as a set) is X/O. Therefore, firmware version 1.19 (scanner) and 1.561 (main) should always be used as a set. Otherwise, the machine cannot proceed past the “Please Wait” condition when main switch is turned on.
How to replace the main control board and scanner IPU board individually
When replacing the main control board or scanner IPU board individually with a new part, please check the firmware version of the board which is not replaced, using SP7-801. If the firmware version of the unreplaced scanner IPU board or main control board is older than ver.1.16 (scanner) or ver.1.542 (main), please update them to ver.1.19 (scanner) or ver.1.561 (main).

The timing belt used for the PTB (paper transfer belt) unit has been modified to protect it from ozone damage during machine operation. The material of the belt has been changed from chloroprene rubber to polyurethane rubber.
NOTE: When replacing the old timing belt (P/N: A2573993) with the new belt (P/N: AA043285), be sure to also replace the lever spring with the new spring (P/N: AA060836) at the same time. Otherwise, problems such as random jitter may occur (please refer to MB No. A2570004).

The P/N for the Development Unit has been changed from A2573055 to A2573056. This was a result of a modification whereby the DG (doctor gap) was narrowed from 0.8-
0.9 mm to 0.75-0.83 mm. At the same time, a modification was also applied to mainframes in production. Specifically, the PG (photoconductor gap) was narrowed from 0.55-0.7 mm to 0.5-0.6 mm. In accordance with the mainframe PG modification, the P/N for the Pull-Out Upper Unit was changed from A2573040 to A2573041.
The mainframe PG modification was applied to minimize the grainy/sandy level of highlight tone areas in both copies and printouts. The development unit DG modification was applied to prevent compressed toner bands on the development roller and OPC drum, which would tend to occur on the modified mainframes.
NOTE: (1) Interchangeability of Development Units:
The interchangeability of the development unit itself is X/X. However, by attaching the PG seal (A2573224) on the development unit supporter and adjusting Vref at the same time, the interchangeability will be X/O. This procedure is mentioned in RTB#RA257035.
(2) Interchangeability of Pull Out Upper Units:
Interchangeability of the Pull Out Upper Unit itself is X/X. However, by replacing with four development units as a set, the interchangeability will be X/O. In this case, no PG seals are required.
(3) P/No. A2573224 contains PG seals (20 pcs).

The P/N for the toner hopper assemblies (K, Y, C, and M) has been changed as shown in the table above. This was a result of modifications made to improve the ease of turning the toner cartridge. Specifically, the corners on one end of the shutter have been cut off and the ribs have been rounded. As a result, the shutter will not catch on the ribs even when it receives the twisting force from cartridge rotation.

The P/N for the Development Unit has been changed from A2573055 to A2573056. This was a result of a modification whereby the DG (doctor gap) was narrowed from 0.8-
0.9 mm to 0.75-0.83 mm. At the same time, a modification was also applied to mainframes in production. Specifically, the PG (photoconductor gap) was narrowed from 0.55-0.7 mm to 0.5-0.6 mm. In accordance with the mainframe PG modification, the P/N for the Pull-Out Upper Unit was changed from A2573040 to A2573041.
The mainframe PG modification was applied to minimize the grainy/sandy level of highlight tone areas in both copies and printouts. The development unit DG modification was applied to prevent compressed toner bands on the development roller and OPC drum, which would tend to occur on the modified mainframes.

As a countermeasure to oil leakage, the oil pan felt and bracket oil pan felt have been newly added as shown in the above table. One pad is attached to the oil pan itself, and the other is attached between the pressure roller oil supply pad and the oil pan pad.
The two new pads will absorb the fusing oil collected by the pressure roller blade. When the amount of oil on the pressure roller surface becomes low, the oil absorbed by the pads will be supplied to the pressure roller via the pressure roller oil supply pad. The pressure roller surface has a relatively low amount of oil when the paper is passing through the two fusing rollers.

As a countermeasure for cracked/broken fusing entrance guides, the fusing entrance guide has been changed as shown in the above table.
There were previously two openings (gates) on the plastic mold for the guide to inject plastic material, however only one gate is now used. This will prevent the molding line from forming on the middle of the fusing entrance guide.

An oil pan for the interlock switch has been newly added with the above P/N. The pan has been attached to the bracket located above the interlock switch.
This will prevent any oil dripping down from the fusing unit from getting on the interlock switch. This has been done because if enough oil were to accumulate on the switch, in the worst case, a spark from the switch contact points may ignite the oil inside the switch.

It is necessary to attach the PG seals whenever installing the development unit (A2573056 or newer) in machines produced before the cut-in serial numbers (which contain old development units) mentioned in MB#MA257031b. The A2579710 development unit kit was registered to facilitate this and to eliminate any confusion.

It was found in laboratory tests that the exit rollers can sometimes cause vertical white lines to appear on some OHP sheets. To ensure proper image quality, the thickness of the plate in the exit roller holder has been decreased from 0.2 to 0.12 mm, decreasing the exit roller pressure.

After the drum lubricant bar reaches a thickness of 2 mm, noise is sometimes generated from the cleaning blade. To ensure that the lubricant bar is properly pressed against the cleaning brush, the stop position of the drum cleaning cover has been lowered by 2 mm.

A. It was reported from the field in Japan that paper sometimes gets caught in the exit guide plate gap. To ensure proper paper feed, 4 guide spring plates and 4 pieces of guide dual side tape are added to the exit guide plate during machine assembly.
B. In addition, it was found in laboratory tests that the exit rollers can sometimes cause vertical white lines to appear on some OHP sheets. To ensure proper image quality, the material of the driven roller has been changed. The new driven roller is also used in the paper exit section (pg. 87). In addition, to facilitate installation of the new driven roller in the exit guide plate, the width of the exit roller holder has been changed from 12 mm to
10.6 mm.
NOTE: If either the old driven roller or old exit roller holder needs to be replaced, be sure to replace both as a set with the new parts listed above.

The old hot rollers (AE010027) of specific lot numbers have high static electricity compared with the other lots. This high static electricity on the hot roller attracts the paper, so paper may be wrapped around the roller. If the paper has high stiffness or is thick, the paper will not be wrapped around the roller. The new hot roller (AE010034) is selected so that high static electricity does not occur on the roller.

It was found in laboratory tests that with 50% Reduction Mode, vertical lines in images near the leading edge may appear slightly wavy due to resonance of the scanner drive board oscillator. To ensure proper copy quality, the capacitors on the scanner drive board have been changed from a 47pF to a 68pF type.
