DETAILS OF MODIFICATION

In the laboratory test, it was found that there were dirty edges on the back side of the paper when wide paper was used. The length of the cleaning blade holder was 278 mm, but the cleaning was insufficient for the range outside 278 mm. The length of the cleaning blade holder was changed from 278 mm to 298 mm.

Since the production of the 1.0GB hard disk was discontinued, we were no longer able to purchase it. After looking for an alternative that would provide the same copy speed, we selected the 1.7 GB hard disk. As a result of the change to the 1.7 GB hard disk, the ROM on the EX-IPU board was modified. When replacing the 1.0 GB hard disk with the 1.7 GB hard disk, please be sure to replace the ROM on the EX-IPU board at the same time. Since the formats for the 1.0 GB and the 1.7 GB hard disks are different, the amount of time necessary for formatting differs considerably. It takes approximately 10 seconds to format the 1.0 GB hard disk, but close to 8 minutes to fully format the 1.7 GB hard disk. Please do not turn the power OFF during the format process.

CAUSE

Wearing of the mylars on top of the Vibrating Plate (A134 4658).

COUNTERMEASURE

We have modified the shapes of the Vibrating Plate and the mylar to extend the lifetime of this part. As the paper is being stacked, the mylar bends at an angle of 90 ° in the direction of the stack. The mylar also bends 90 ° in the opposite direction when the paper is fed. The mylar eventually breaks after continually being bent back and forth. Since the lifetime of the mylar is shortened when the duplex unit is used often, a notch has been put in the Vibrating Plate and the shape of the mylar has been modified to prevent a recurrence of this problem. Also, the thickness of the mylar has been increased from

0.125 mm to 0.188 mm and the width has been decreased from 18 mm to 6 mm. Please refer to the diagram below. As a result of this modification, the mylar will now slip into the notch when it moves, enabling a smoother transition as the mylar bends back and forth . This modification was implemented starting from the January production run. An MB regarding this matter will be issued soon.
