The InfoPrint 5000 can address requirements for speed, quality, reliability and ease of use for transactional printers, service bureaus, direct mailers and book printers with AFP, PostScript or PDF color applications. The new AFP mod-
els support the open industry-standard AFP color management architecture published by the AFP Consortium (www.AFPColor.org) to provide accurate, consistent and deviceindependent color rendering. These new
models use a powerful and scalable InfoPrint Solutions cluster-based printer controller that can drive parallel AFP or Adobe® PostScript RIPS and deliver high-speed printing to meet customer needs using
IBM blade technology. InfoPrint 5000 applications can be driven by InfoPrint ProcessDirector or InfoPrint Manager.
The InfoPrint 5000 uses piezo-electric drop- on-demand inkjet print head technology. The InfoPrint 5000 only jets ink when it’s needed on the paper. With this technology, ink is never recycled or reconstituted. Color depth is achieved at the print head with 2 bits per spot and the use of multiple drop sizes. High quality, water-based pigment or dye ink systems can meet a broad range of applications. The printing speed ranges from 209.9 feet/minute
(64 meters/minute)1 or 916 full-color lettersize impressions/minute in 2-up tandem duplex mode (862 A4 impressions/minute)1 to 419.8 feet/minute (128 meters/minute)1 or 1,832 full-color letter-size impressions/minute
(1,724 impressions/minute A4)1 in 2-up tandem mode using a 20.4" (520 mm) web with maximum print width of 19.96" (507 mm).
