IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

USING THIS APPLIANCE
The manufacturer cannot accept responsibility for damage
caused when the appliance is not used according to the instructions, or for uses other than those for which it was intended.
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury:
• Do not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outl et when not in use and before servicing.
• WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK COULD OCCUR IF USED OUTDOORS OR ON WET SURFACES.
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is nec essary when used by or near children.
• Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
• Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to your Authorized Retailer for service.
• Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on the cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
• Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
• Hold plug when rewinding the power cord to prevent the cord from whipping.
• Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
• Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may reduce air ow.
• Keep hair, loose clothing, ngers and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
• Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches or hot ashes.
• Do not use without vacuum bag in place.
• Turn off all controls before unplugging.
• Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
• Do not use to pick up ammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline or use in areas where they may be present.
• Do not attempt to service the unit while appliance is plugged in.
• Do not use vacuum to pick up water or any wet materials.

Safety Precautions Replacing Vacuum Bag and Filters
This vacuum cleaner should be used for normal, dry household dust and dirt. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by use or operation of the vacuum contrary to these instructions. If the vacuum is wrongly operated for a purpose other than that for which it is intended, no liability can be accepted for any possible damage.
• Do not vacuum areas which contain moisture or water, flammable matter, needles, pins, razor blades, matches, cigarettes, etc., since they may damage the vacuum or vacuum bag.
• When rewinding the power cord, hold the plug before pressing the cord rewind button to prevent the cord from whipping.
• Make sure a vacuum bag and filters are always in place.
• This product is equipped with a polarized alternating current line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug fits into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact an electrician to replace the obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.
Replacing the vacuum bag
• Turn canister off, rem ove hose, and ope n the dust cover.
• Pull the tab on th e cardboard b ag collar wh ich closes the b ag while remov ing it from the bag h older.
• Do not re- use vacu um bag.
• The dust cove r will not close without a bag i n the unit or if the bag is not i nserted properly.
NOTE: The “che ck bag” light is l ocated on the po wer handle an d will light up w hen eithe r the bag is full or whe n a clog is detecte d in the machin e. If upon inspe ction the bag i s not full, plea se inspect th e hose or wand for a c log and remove. T he check bag l ight may illum inate when cleaning w ith on-board to ols. Should th is occur, continue c leaning no rmally.
NOTE: Chang e the HEPA filter when t he “servi ce filter” l ight is illum inated on the powe r handle. Genuine HEPA fil ters cannot be w ashed or re-u sed.
Replacing the secondary filter
• Unplug canister and remove the hose.
• Open the dust cover and locate the secondary filter behind the bag.
• Remove filter case and discard used filter.
• Insert new filter into filter case and re-insert case.
• Close the dust cover.

• Unplug canister and remove HEPA filter cover.
• Remove and discard used HEPA filter.
• Insert new HEPA filter.
• Press the “reset filter button” located next to the HEPA filter.
• Reinsert HEPA filter cover onto the machine.
