Wir gratulieren Ihnen zum Erwerb
Ihrer neuen Einbaulautsprecher
und danken Ihnen für das Vertrauen, das Sie Revox mit dem
Kauf dieses hochwertigen
Produktes entgegenbringen.
Der Einbaulautsprecher Re:sound I
Z40 ist eine gemeinsame Entwicklung von Revox und der Firma
Zumtobel, die für ihre exklusiven
Beleuchtungskonzepte bekannt
ist.
Das Design des Z40 entspricht
dem aktuellen Einbaudeckenstrahler 2LIGHT MINI von
Zumtobel.
Ihre Einbaulautsprecher wurden
nach neuesten elektroakustischen Erkenntnissen entwickelt.
Vor Inbetriebnahme sollten Sie
diese Bedienungsanleitung
durchlesen, damit sich die klanglichen Qualitäten voll entfalten
können.
Allgemeines
Der Einbaulautsprecher
Re:sound I Z40 ist für den
Einbau in abgehängte Decken
oder in Wandverschalungen
vorgesehen. Die integrierten
Drehspanner erlauben den
Einbau in Wände mit einer
Stärke von bis zu 26 mm.
Schutzschaltung
Der Z40 besitzt eine Schutzschaltung, die bei Überlast den Lautsprecher im Pegel absenkt und
nach einer gewissen Zeit (abhängig von der Höhe der Überlastung) wieder selbstständig
aktiviert.

Bevor Sie mit der Montage
beginnen, überprüfen Sie bitte
den Inhalt des Versandkartons:

Lautsprecherposition
Einbauort und Aussparung
Bevor Sie mit der Montage beginnen, hier noch ein paar Hinweise zur Ausrichtung des Einbaulautsprechers. Der Lautsprecher ist so konzipiert, dass die
optimale Wiedergabe erreicht wird,
wenn Wände und Zimmerecken
mindestens 0.5m vom Lautsprecher entfernt sind. Dadurch
werden unerwünschte Reflexionen
wirkungsvoll vermieden.
Seitlich hinter der Einbauöffnung
sollten ca. 30 mm Freiraum vorhanden sein, damit die Drehspanner in Position gebracht
werden können (siehe Skizze).
Der Z40 hat eine Außenabmessung von 110 x 110 mm. Der
Ausschnitt sollte somit ca. 115 x
115 mm betragen.
Große Räume beschallen
Für große Räume empfiehlt es
sich, mehrere Lautsprecher
gleichmäßig verteilt zu installieren als nur einen Lautsprecher zu verwenden. Dabei
ist die Gesamtimpedanz zu
beachten. Im folgenden Kapitel
Gesamtimpedanz von Lautsprechern werden die möglichen
Schaltungsvarianten von zwei
und mehr Lautsprechern aufgezeigt. Maßgebend für die
Maximal-Lautstärke ist die Membranfläche sowie die Empfindlichkeit (dB pro Watt in 1m
Entfernung) des Lautsprechers.
Soll die Musikwiedergabe höhere
Anforderungen erfüllen, die über
eine Hintergundbeschallung hinaus gehen, empfiehlt Revox einen
zusätzlicher Aktiv-Subwoofer aus
der Re:sound -Serie zu integrieren.
Einsatz als SurroundLautsprecher im Heimkino
Der Klang aus den SurroundLautsprechern sollte möglichst
diffus sein. Die Lautsprecher
sollten in der Regel hinter dem
Hörer und mindestens 0,6 m
über Ohrhöhe platziert werden.
Der Einbau in die Decke führt bei
dieser Anwendung zu guten
Ergebnissen. Die Ausrichtung ist
beim Einsatz als SurroundLautsprecher weniger wichtig als
in den anderen Fällen.

Gesamtimpedanz von LS
Die Gesamtimpedanz bei der
Verwendung von mehreren Lautsprechern pro Kanal hängt von der
Einzelimpedanz und der Schaltungsvariante ab. Als Variante gibt
es die Reihen-, Parallel- oder
Matrixschaltung von Lautsprechern.
Eine zu geringe Gesamtimpedanz
überlastet den Verstärker (hoher
Strom) und lässt seine Schutzschaltung permanent ansprechen.
Eine zu hohe Gesamtimpedanz
schont zwar den Verstärker
(geringer Strom), die erreichbare
Maximallautstärke ist dadurch
aber sehr niedrig und das
Potential des Verstärkers wird
nicht ausgeschöpft.
Da die Impedanz der frequenzabhängige Widerstand des Lautsprechers ist, empfiehlt Revox im
Grenzbereich der zulässigen Verstärker-Impedanz einen Probeaufbau vorzunehmen.
Bitte die Polung der einzelnen
Lautsprecher beachten! Falls ein
oder sogar mehrere Lautsprecher
verpolt angeschlossen wurden,
stellt sich eine deutlich reduzierte
Basswiedergabe zusammen mit
einem ungenauen und diffusen
Klangbild ein.
Die Lautsprecher sollten immer
typengleich sein um Schalldruckund Abstrahlungsunterschiede zu
vermeiden.

Resultat
Die links gezeigte Reihen- und
Matrixschaltung weißt eine ausgeglichene Gesamtimpedanz
von 8 Ω bzw. 4 Ω auf und ist
damit bestens für Revox-Verstärker geeignet.
Bei Matrixschaltungen von 3 oder
5 Lautsprechern sind die Lautsprecher unterschiedlich laut, es
kommt zu einer ungleichmäßigen
Beschallung und es ist daher
nicht zu empfehlen.

MONTAGE
Der Z40-Lautsprecher wurde für
abgehängte Decken oder Wände
in Ständerbauweise entwickelt.
Mit Hilfe eines Eingießgehäuses
(erhältlich im Zubehörprogramm
der Firma Zumtobel) kann der
Z40 allerdings auch in Massivdecken und –wänden eingebaut
werden.
Achten Sie darauf, dass sich
nach dem Ausschneiden der
Öffnung kein Schmutz mehr in
der Einbauöffnung befindet und
bewegliche Teile fixiert sind.
Max. Wandstärke: 26 mm
Schritt 1
Verbinden Sie das
Lautsprecherkabel
polungsrichtig mit
der Lautsprecherklemme. Drücken
Sie hierzu die entsprechenden Taster nach unten und
führen dann das
Lautsprecherkabel
ein. Das + Label
kennzeichnet den
Plus-Pol des Z40.

Schritt 2
Führen Sie den Einbaulautsprecher in die Öffnung ein und
ziehen Sie die 2 Schrauben im
Uhrzeigersinn soweit an bis der
Lautsprecherflansch bündig
anliegt. Siehe Abb. rechts

Für den schnellen Einbau besitzen
der Re:sound I Lautsprecher integrierte Drehspanner. Die zwei
Drehspanner befinden sich seitlich am Lautsprecher und
schwenken um 90° aus, sobald
die 2 markierten Schrauben auf
der Vorderseite des Lautsprechers eingedreht werden.
Schritt 3
Bevor Sie die Frontblende
anbringen, sollten Sie einen
Hörtest durchführen, um die
Funktion der installierten
Lautsprecher zu überprüfen.
Im letzten Schritt der Installation
wird die quadratischen Frontblende aufgesetzt. Durch die vier
integrierten Magnete wird die
Frontblende sicher gehalten.
Die Frontblende kann in jeder
Position installiert werden, damit
der Schriftzug nach Wunsch
ausgerichtet werden kann.

Demontage
Für die Demontage des Z40
muss zuerst die Frontblende
abgenommen werden. Dies kann
auf zweierlei Arten erfolgen. Eine
Beschreibung finden Sie auf
Seite 10 - Variante A und Seite
11 - Variante B.
Nachdem die Frontblende entfernt wurde, werden die Schrauben der zwei Drehspanner entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn herausgedreht bis der Schraubenkopf
sich leicht anhebt. Nun sollten
sich die Drehspanner wieder in
der Montageposition befinden,
um den Lautsprecher entnehmen
zu können.
In einzelnen Fällen können sich
die Drehspanner verhaken und
gehen nicht mehr automatisch
zurück in die Montageposition.
Drehen Sie in diesem Fall einfach die Schrauben komplett
heraus. Dadurch fallen die Drehspanner ab und können nach der
Entnahme des Lautsprechers
wieder angeschraubt werden.

Demontage VARIANTE A
etzen Sie den mitgelieferten Schaber mit ausgefahrener Klinge
eitlich (siehe Pfeile Abb. 1) am Lautsprecher an und hebeln Sie die
Frontblende vorsichtig an den Rasterstufen heraus. Es ist darauf zu
chten, dass der Klinge nicht die Gehäuselackierung des Lautprechers beschädigt. Gegebenenfalls muss eine schützende
Unterlage benutzt werden.
Die Schaberklinge ist sehr scharf - Verletzungsgefahr!

Demontage VARIANTE B
1. Heben Sie das Lautsprechergitter mit einem spitzen Gegenstand
vom Lautsprecher ab.
2. Lösen Sie nun die Frontblende vom Lautsprecher, indem Sie an
den 4 markierten Stellen (Pfeile) die Frontblende anheben und
diese herausziehen.
3. Drücken Sie das herausgenommene Lautsprechergitter wieder
auf, damit die Lautsprechermembran geschützt ist.

Um die Leitungs- und Hochtonverluste möglichst gering zu
halten, empfehlen wir, die Kabelquerschnitte wie folgt zu dimensionieren und in jedem Fall
2-adrige Litzen zu verwenden.

Belastbarkeit
Es ist möglich, diese Lautsprecher an Verstärkern zu
betreiben, deren Ausgangsleistung höher ist. Dabei muss
aber beachtet werden, dass die
Lautstärke nur so weit aufgedreht wird, bis das Ohr -meist
zuverlässig- eine Überlastung
meldet.
Durch eine Kurzzeitüber-
lastung nehmen Ihre Revox
Lautsprecher keinen Schaden.
Sollten die Lautsprecherchassis
durch eine längere Überlastung
beschädigt worden sein, so ist
dies von dem zuständigen
Servicetechniker zweifelsfrei
feststellbar. Eine Garantieleistung durch Revox ist dann
nicht gegeben.

The Re:sound I Z40 fitted
speaker is a joint development
from Revox and Zumtobel, a
company that is known for its
exclusive lighting concepts.
From a design standpoint, the
Re:sound I Z40 matches exactly
the 2LIGHT MINI from Zumtobel.
Your Revox inceiling speakers
were developed based on the
latest in acoustic know-how and
were manufactured with great
care. Before you start to use
them, we would recommend that
you read this manual thoroughly
so that you will be able to get the
best sound results.
General
The Re:sound I Z40 speakers
are designed to be installed in
suspended ceilings or in wallcladding. The integrated rotary
tensioner enables installation in
walls up to 26 mm thick.
Protective circuit
The Z40 speaker has a protective
circuit, which reduces the level of
the speaker in the case of an overload and reactivates it automatically after a certain time. The
length of time is dependant on the
extend of the overload.

Please check that the all parts
are included before you start
installation.

Speaker position
General
Here are a couple of tips for you
about lining the speakers up,
before you start the installation.
The speaker is designed to
achieve the optimum reproduction
if walls and room corners are at
least 0.5 meters from the speaker.
This effectively avoids unwanted
reflections.
There should be about 30 mm
free space to the side behind the
fitted opening so that the rotary
tensioner can be got into position
(see drawing).
The external dimensions of the
Z40 are 110 x 110 mm.
Therefore, the cutout should be
approx. 115 x 115 mm.
Large room speaker
assignment
In the case of large rooms, we
recommend that you distribute
several speakers throughout the
room rather than just installing a
single speaker. Here, the total
impedance must be taken into
account. The possible switching
options of two or more speakers
are explained in the following
chapter The total impedance of
speakers. The important factors
in relation to the maximum sound
pressure are the membrane cone
area and the sensitivity of the
speaker, measured as dB per
watt in 1m distance.
If the music reproduction should
fulfil other requirements other than
that of providing background
sound, Revox recommends the
integration of an additional active
subwoofer of the Re:sound series.
Usage as Home Cinema
surround speaker
The sound from the surround
speakers should be as diffused
as possible. As a rule, the
speakers should be positioned
behind the listener and at least
0.6 metres above ear level.
Ceiling installation in this case
leads to good results. The
positioning is less important with
surround speaker usage than in
other cases.

The total impedance of
speakers
The total impedance when using
several speakers per channel
depends on the individual impedances and the switching option.
The speaker switching options are
series, parallel and matrix. If the
total impedance is too low, causes
an overload of the amplifier (high
current) and causes the protective
circuit to be permanently activated.
If the total impedance is too high,
the amplifier is prevented from
damage(low current), but on the
other hand, maximum achievable
volume is very low and the
speaker’s full potential is not used.
As the impedance is the speaker’s
frequency-dependant resistor,
Revox recommends that you carry
out a test at the threshold of the
permitted speaker impedance.

Take note of the polarity of the individual speakers with the various
switching options. If one or even
more speakers are connected with
reversed polarity, this results in a
significantly reduced bass reproduction, together with an imprecise
and diffused sound picture.
The speakers should always be of
the same type, in order to avoid
variances in sound pressure and
radiation.

shown on the left offers a
balanced total impedance of 8 Ω
or 4 Ω and is therefore very well
suited for Revox amplifiers.
In the case of 3 or 5 speakers, the
speakers have different volume
levels resulting in an unequal
sound, which is not recommended.

INSTALLATION
The Z40 speaker was developed
for installation in suspended
ceilings or post construction
walls.
The Z40 can however, also be
installed in solid ceilings and
walls using a moulded housing,
available as an accessory from
the Zumtobel Company.
Make sure that once the opening
has been cut out, no dirt remains
in the installation opening and
that any movable parts are fixed
in place.
Max. wall thickness: 26 mm
Step 1
Connect the
speaker cable
with the
correct polarity
to the speaker
terminal. To do
this, press the
corresponding
push-button
down and feed
the speaker
cable in. The +
sign indicates
the Z40’s plus
pole.

INSTALLATION
Step 2
Insert the fitted speaker into the
opening and tighten the 2 rotary
tensioner screws clockwise a
little, until the speaker flange is
held in position at the sides.

The Re:sound I speaker has an
integrated rotary tensioner to
enable quick installation. These
rotary tensioners are located on
the rear of the speaker and
swivel out through 90° once the 2
marked screws (see figure on the
next page) on the front of the
speaker are screwed in.
Step 3
You should carry out a sound
test before installing the front
plate, in order to check that the
installed speaker is functioning
correctly.
The square front plate is put in
place as the last step. The four
integrated magnets hold the front
plate securely in place.
It can be installed in any position
so that the printing can be lined
up as required.

Removal
The front plate must be removed
first when removing the Z40. This
can be done in two ways. You
will find a description on
Page 24 - Version A and
Page 25 – Version B.
After the front plate has been
removed, the screws from the
two rotary tensioners can be
removed by turning them
counter-clockwise until the head
of the screw can be raised easily.
Now, the rotary tensioners
should be back in the installation
position, allowing the speaker to
be removed.
Sometimes, the rotary tensioners
can get stuck and not return
automatically to the installation
position. In such cases, simply
remove the screws completely.
This causes the rotary tensioners
to fall out and they can then be
screwed back in once the
speaker has been removed.

Removal VERSION A
Locate the supplied scraper, with the blade extended, at the side of
he speaker (see arrow, Fig. 1) and carefully lever the front plate out
t the click-in positions. Make sure that the blade doesn’t damage the
peaker housing paint. If necessary, a protective cover must be used.
The scraper blade is very sharp. Risk of injury.

Removal VERSION B
1. Lift the speaker grille off the speaker with a pointed object.
2. Now remove the front plate from the speaker by lifting it at
the 4 marked positions (arrows) and pulling it off.
3. Push the removed speaker grille back into place so that the
speaker cone is protected.

treble loss as low as possible, we
recommend that you use the
following cable profiles and in
any case, you should use 2-core
wire.

We advise that you avoid using

Load capacity
It is possible to operate these
speakers with amplifiers that
have a higher output performance. In this case however,
you must ensure that the volume
is only turned up to a level where
your ear (usually a reliable
measure) starts to notice an
overload.
Your Revox speakers will not be
damaged by a short-term
overload.
Damage of Ioudspeaker drivers
due to overload can easily be
determined by the service
personnel. In such cases, you
are not entitled to any warranty
work.
