GENERAL DESCRI PTI ON

The ZDH a nd ZNH ser ies of sensor s are heavy d uty, extremely r ugged,
reliable, yet compact encoders desig ned for harsh factory and plant floor
enviro nments . Both models a re fl ange mount a nd confor m to NEM A 4, 13
and IP66 s tandards . Typical a pplications inclu de motion control fee dback,
machine control, process control, elevator controls, conveyors, textile
equipment, robotics and food processing.

Open Collector Output Wiring

The ZDH a nd Z NH serie s of sen so r s have op e n coll ec to r outputs. A n op en
collecto r output bri ngs the uncom mitted c ollector of the enc oder switch ing
device to t he exte rn al world. Beca use th e collect or element i s not asso ciated
with the sensor supply voltage, the sensor output collector may be “pulled up”
to external voltages different than the encoder supply voltage (40 VDC
maximum). NPN open collector outputs are current sinking devices. An
output signal wil l no t be generated unles s a pull-up resi stor is conn ected from
the open-collector to the positive side of an external supply. The same supply
can be us ed for p owering the u nit and for the pu l l- up r esi st or.

REPLACEMENT

Note: The R PGD connection s are ma de by a 24 inch ca ble. The ZDH uses a

7-Pin MS conn ec t or.
