spuren und/oder Abfärbungen auftreten. Um das zu vermeiden, können
Sie z.B. den RECARO Car Seat Protector verwenden. Ferner weisen wir in
diesem Zusammenhang auf unsere Reinigungshinweise hin, die vor der
ersten Verwendung des Kindersitzes unbedingt beachtet werden sollten.

PROTECTING THE VEHICLE
Traces of use and/or discoloration can appear on some vehicle seats made
from delicate materials (e.g. velour, leather, etc.) if car seats are used. You
can avoid this by using, e.g. the RECARO Car Seat Protector. In this con
text also see our cleaning directions. It is essential that these are followed
before the first use of the child seat.
PER LA PROTEZIONE DELLA VETTURA
Su alcuni sedili auto in materiale sensibile (ad es. in velour, pelle, ecc.),
l’uso dei seggiolini auto può lasciare eventuali tracce d’uso e/o intaccare il

DER RICHTIGE PLATZ IM FAHRZEUG
Dies ist ein Kinderrückhaltesystem der Kategorie „i-Size“. Es ist nach
der Regelung ECE R129 zur Verwendung auf solchen Fahrzeugsitzen
genehmigt worden, die gemäß den Angaben des Fahrzeugherstellers im
Fahrzeughandbuch für i-Size Rückhaltesysteme geeignet sind. Verfügt Ihr
Fahrzeug über keinen i-Size Sitzplatz, überprüfen Sie bitte anhand der auf der
Homepage befindlichen Typenliste, ob der Einbau erlaubt ist.
WICHTIG: Eine komplette Liste der Fahrzeuge finden Sie unter
www.recaro-kids.com
Hinweis: Wenn das Kinderrückhaltesystem in der maximalen, rückwärts
gerichteten Position installiert wird, passt es möglicherweise nicht in alle
dafür genehmigten Fahrzeuge.
Bitte überprüfen Sie, ob alle möglichen Positionen des Kinderrückhalte
systems (Liegepositionen und Kopfstützenverstellung) in Ihrem Fahrzeug
einstellbar sind.
WARNUNG! Weder der i-Size Kindersitz noch die i-Size Basis dürfen mit
anderen Systemen kombiniert und verwendet werden. Die Zulassung
erlischt, sobald etwas verändert wird.
Falls Ihr Auto nicht mit ISOFIX ausgestattet ist, wenden Sie sich an den
Fahrzeughersteller. In Ausnahmefällen kann der Kindersitz auch vorne
auf dem Beifahrersitz verwendet werden. Beachten Sie dabei bitte die
folgenden Punkte:
• Überprüfen Sie, ob der Beifahrersitz mit ISOFIX Anbindungspunkten 1
ausgestattet ist. Ohne ISOFIX ist eine Verwendung nicht möglich.
• Deaktivieren Sie den Beifahrerairbag! Sollte dies in Ihrem Fahrzeug nicht
möglich sein, ist eine Verwendung auf der Beifahrerseite untersagt.
• Die Empfehlungen des Fahrzeugherstellers sind unbedingt zu befolgen!
Gepäckstücke oder andere Gegenstände im Fahrzeug, die bei einem
Unfall Verletzungen verursachen können, müssen immer gut befestigt
werden. Andernfalls können sie sich zu tödlichen Geschossen im Fahrzeug
verwandeln.

CORRECT POSITION IN THE VEHICLE
This is an i-Size Child Restraint System. It is approved to ECE R129, for
use in i-Size compatible vehicle seating positions as indicated by vehicle
manufacturers in the vehicle users’ manual. If your vehicle does not have
an i-Size seating position, please check the vehicle typelist on our home
page whether the installation is allowed.
IMPORTANT: For a complete list of cars, please visit www.recaro-kids.com
Note: When the child restraint is installed in the maximum rearward facing
position, it may not fit in all approved vehicles.
Please check that all possible positions of the car seat (recline positions
and headrest adjustment) fit in your car.
WARNING! Neither the i-Size car seat yet the i-Size base may be com
bined with other systems and be used. The warranty expires as soon as
something is changed.
If your car is not equipped with ISOFIX, please contact the vehicle
manufacturer. In exceptional cases, however, the child seat can be used
on the front passenger seat. In this case, observe the following points:
• Check whether the passenger seat is fitted with ISOFIX 1. If ISOFIX
is not fitted, the child seat may not be used.
• Deactivate the passenger airbag. If this is not possible in your car, use
of the child seat on the passenger side is prohibited.
• It is imperative that you comply with the car manufacturer‘s recom
mendations.
Items of luggage and other loose objects in the car, which could cause
injury in an accident, must always be safely secured. They can become
deadly projectiles in the case of a car accident.

LA POSIZIONE GIUSTA NELLA VETTURA
Questo è un sistema di ritenuta per bambini della categoria “i-Size”. È stato
omologato secondo la norma ECE R129 per l’uso su sedili di autovetture
che, in base ai dati del costruttore del veicolo riportati nel relativo manuale,
siano idonei per l’uso di sistemi di ritenuta i-Size. Se la vostra autovettura
non dispone di un sedile idoneo a seggiolini della categoria i-Size,
controllare nell’elenco dei modelli compatibili riportato sull’homepage se il
montaggio è consentito.
IMPORTANTE: Un elenco completo delle autovetture è riportato al sito
www.recaro-kids.com
Avviso: Se il sistema di ritenuta per bambini viene montato nella posizione
massima nel senso opposto a quello di marcia, è possibile che non sia
adatto a tutte le vetture omologate allo scopo.
Controllare se tutte le posizioni possibili del sistema di ritenuta per bambini
(posizioni sdraiate e regolazione poggiatesta) possono essere impostate
nella vettura.
AVVERTENZA! Né il seggiolinoauto i-Size né la base i-Size possono
essere combinati e usati con altri sistemi. L’omologazione perde validità
in caso di modifiche.
Nel caso l‘auto non fosse provvista di sistema ISOFIX, rivolgersi al
costruttore del veicolo. In casi eccezionali, il seggiolino auto può venire
montato anche davanti, sul sedile del passeggero anteriore. In questo
caso, prestare attenzione ai seguenti punti:
• Verificare che il sedile del passeggero anteriore sia provvisto di punti
di attacco ISOFIX 1. Senza sistema ISOFIX, l’uso non è consentito.
• Disattivare l’airbag passeggero anteriore! Nel caso questo non fosse
possibile nella propria vettura, il montaggio sul lato del passeggero
anteriore è vietato.
• Seguire assolutamente le raccomandazioni del costruttore della
vettura!

WARNUNG! Bitte lassen Sie Ihr Kind nie unbeaufsichtigt im Fahrzeug
zurück. Die Kunststoffteile des Kindersitzes heizen sich in der Sonne
auf. Ihr Kind kann sich daran verbrennen. Schützen Sie Ihr Kind und den
Kindersitz vor intensiver Sonneneinstrahlung (z.B. indem Sie ein helles
Tuch über die Schale legen).
WARNUNG! Dieser Sitz ist nicht für die Verwendung mit einem norma

tain burns. Protect your child and the car seat from direct sun exposure
(e.g. by covering it with a light colored cloth).
WARNING! The seat is not suitable for use with a normal car seatbelt. If
the seat is secured with normal car seatbelt, in case of an accident the
child and other occupants of the car may be severely injured or killed.
WARNING! The child seat is not allowed to be used on vehicle seats,
which are installed at right angles to the direction of travel. The child
seat should not be used on rearward-facing seats, for example in a
van or minibus. The child seat must always be secured in place with

Rückwartsgerichtete Verwendung (60-105 cm)
Wir empfehlen den RECARO Kio bis zu einer Körpergröße von 105 cm und

Rearward-facing use (60-105 cm)
We recommend to use RECARO Kio in rearward-facing position up to
size of 105 cm and max. 18 kg.
WARNING! It is mandatory to use rearward-facing up to an age of 15
months and a size of 75 cm. Even beyond this limit a rearward-facing
transport is the safest. For more details please read section: „REAR

Foward-facing use (76-105 cm)
Use of the seat in forward-facing position is permitted when the child is

NOTE! The indicator on the headrest shows the height of the child, from

NOTE! Newborns and infants who are not yet able to sit up by themselves
(up to around 1 year) should, for orthopedic and safety reasons, always be
transported in the flattest recline position rearward-facing.
NOTE! The child should be clear of any loose parts while making
adjustments with the seat. Keep children away from the seat, during the
installation and de-installation in the car. There is a risk that child`s fingers
can be trapped and are injured by unavoidable scissoring actions.

WARNING! Never use the car seat on a vehicle seat with an activated

NOTE! The large-volume front airbag expands explosively and may cause
your child serious injury or even death.
WARNING! The car seat and the base must always be secured correctly
in the vehicle even when not in use. In case of an emergency brake or
accident, an unsecured car seat may injure other passengers or yourself.
In order to guarantee the best possible safety for all passengers make
sure that:
• foldable backrests in the vehicle are locked in their upright position
• when installing the child seat on the front passenger seat, adjust the
vehicle seat in rearmost position
• you properly secure all objects likely to cause injury in the case of an
accident
• all passengers in the vehicle are buckled up
WARNING! NEVER hold a baby on your lap in a vehicle. The forces released
in a collision are way too high for any person to hold on to the baby.
Never secure yourself and the child with only one vehicle seat belt.
Note: When the child restraint is installed in the maximum rearward or
forward facing position, it may not fit in all approved vehicles. Please check
that all possible positions of the car seat (recline positions and headrest
adjustment) fit in your car.

anteriore, quest’ultimo sia nella posizione più posteriore possibile
• nella vettura tutti gli oggetti mobili siano fissati
• tutti gli occupanti della vettura abbiano allacciato la cintura di sicurezza
AVVERTENZA! NON trasportare MAI un neonato in auto tenendolo in
braccio. Le forze enormi che vengono liberate in caso di incidente rendo
no impossibile tener fermo il neonato. Non allacciare mai con la cintura di
sicurezza se stessi e il bambino contemporaneamente.
Avviso: Se il sistema di ritenuta per bambini viene montato nella posizione
massima nel senso di marcia o opposto ad esso, è possibile che non sia
adatto a tutte le vetture omologate allo scopo.

Einbau der Basis
Wählen Sie einen zulässigen Fahrzeugsitz. Verfügt Ihr Fahrzeug über
keinen i-Size Sitzplatz, überprüfen Sie bitte anhand der Typenliste, ob der
Einbau erlaubt ist.
HINWEIS! Die ISOFIX Befestigungspunkte 1 sind zwei Metalllaschen
pro Sitzplatz und befinden sich zwischen Rückenlehne und Sitzfläche des
Fahrzeugsitzes.
Im Zweifelsfall nehmen Sie die Bedienungsanleitung Ihres Fahrzeugs zu Hilfe.
• Sind die ISOFIX Befestigungspunkte 1 Ihres Fahrzeugs schwer zugäng
lich, so können Sie die mitgelieferten ISOFIX Einführhilfen 2 in den
beiden ISOFIX Befestigungspunkten 1 dauerhaft einhängen.
HINWEIS! Stellen Sie keine Gegenstände in den Fußraum vor den Kindersitz.
• Klappen Sie immer den Stützfuß 3 aus, bis er vorne einrastet.
• Lösen Sie die Arretierung 4 der ISOFIX Konnektoren 6. Drücken Sie
gleichzeitig eine der seitlichen Tasten 5 und schieben Sie die ISOFIX
Arretierung bis zum Anschlag aus der Basis.
• Die ISOFIX Konnektoren 6 müssen hörbar an den beiden ISOFIX Be
festigungspunkten 1 einrasten.
• Vergewissern Sie sich, dass die Basis gut hält, indem Sie versuchen die
Basis aus den ISOFIX Einführhilfen 2 herauszuziehen.
• Drehen Sie die Basis nach rechts und nach links, um sicherzustellen,
dass sie so straff wie möglich verrastet ist.
• Der Sicherheitsindikator 7 vorne an der Basis muss grün anzeigen.
• Anschließend schieben Sie die Basis in Richtung Rückenlehne, bis sie
fest und vollflächig anliegt.
Einstellen des Stützfußes
Drücken Sie die Verstelltaste am Stützfuß 3 und ziehen Sie gleichzeitig den
Stützfuß 3 aus. Ziehen Sie den Stützfuß 3 soweit heraus, bis dieser den
Fahrzeugboden berührt. Ziehen Sie den Stützfuß 3 zur nächsten Verrastung
aus, um eine optimale Kraftaufnahme zu gewährleisten. Der Stützfußindi
kator an der Vorderseite der Basis schaltet dann auf grün um.

INSTALLATION OF THE CHILD SEAT
Installation of the base
Please select an appropriate seat in the vehicle. If your vehicle does not
have an i-Size seating position, please check the vehicle typelist that is
included whether the installation is allowed.
NOTE! The ISOFIX anchorage 1 points are two metal lugs per seat and are
located between the backrest and the seat of the car. If you are in any
doubt, consult your car‘s instruction manual for assistance.
• If the ISOFIX anchorage points 1 of your vehicle are difficult to access
please use the provided ISOFIX guides 2 that fix on the ISOFIX attachment
points 1 permanently.
NOTE! Do not put any objects in the foot area in front of the child seat.
• Always fold out the supporting leg 3 until it locks.
• Release the lock 4 of the ISOFIX connectors 6. Push simultanesously
one of the base’s side buttons 5 and push the ISOFIX connectors 6 out
of the base to the endstopper.
• The ISOFIX connectors 6 have to lock into the ISOFIX anchorage points
1 with an audible click.
• Make sure that the base stays firmly in place by trying to pull it out of
the ISOFIX guides 2.
• Rotate the base right and left to gain the tightest possible installation
• The safety indicator 7 at the front of the base must be green.
• Next, push the base in the direction to the backrest until it is fully
aligned with the backrest.
Adjusting the support leg
Press the adjustment button on the support leg 3 and simultaneously pull
out the support leg 3. Pull the support leg 3 out to the next locking posi
tion to ensure optimal force transmission. The support leg indicator at the
front of the base switches to green.

è possibile agganciare in modo permanente gli ausili di introduzione
ISOFIX in dotazione 2 nei due punti di fissaggio ISOFIX 1.
AVVISO! Non depositare oggetti nel vano piedi davanti al seggiolinoauto.
• Aprire sempre il piede di supporto 3 finché non scatta in avanti.
• Sbloccare il fermo 4 dei connettori ISOFIX 6. Premere uno dei tasti
laterali 5 e spingere contemporaneamente il connettori ISOFIX fuori dalla
base fino alla battuta.
• I connettori ISOFIX 6 devono incastrarsi in modo udibile nei due punti di
fissaggio ISOFIX 1.
• Accertarsi che la base sia stabile tentando di estrarla dagli ausili di
introduzione ISOFIX 2.
• Ruotare la base verso destra e verso sinistra per accertarsi che sia
quanto più ferma possibile.
• L’indicatore di sicurezza 7 anteriore sulla base deve essere verde.
• Quindi spingere la base verso lo schienale finché non aderisce a
quest’ultimo stabilmente e completamente.
Regolazione del piede di supporto

Premere il tasto di regolazione sul piede di supporto 3 e tirare contempora
neamente il piede di supporto 3. Estrarre il piede di supporto 3 finché non
tocca il pianale della vettura. Estrarre il piede di supporto 3 fino al prossimo
punto di incastro per garantire un assorbimento della forza ottimale. L’indi
catore del piede di supporto sul lato anteriore della base diventa verde.

während Sie die mittlere Entriegelungstaste 4 gedrückt halten.
• Durch Drücken der Verstelltaste können Sie den Stützfuß 3 wieder in seine
Ausgangsposition schieben und danach platzsparend zurückklappen.

AUF DER BASIS

• By pressing the adjustment button you can push back the support leg 3
into its original position and then fold it back to save space.

Tra il pianale della vettura e il piede di supporto 3 non devono esserci
oggetti o spazi vuoti. Se la vettura dispone di spazi di stivaggio nel vano
piedi rivolgersi assolutamente al costruttore.
Smontaggio della base
Eseguire i passi di montaggio nella sequenza inversa.
• Sbloccare i due connettori ISOFIX 6 azionando contemporaneamente
uno dei tasti laterali 5 e il tasto di sbloccaggio centrale 4.
• Estrarre i connettori ISOFIX 6 dagli ausili di introduzione 2.
• Spingere nuovamente i connettori 6 nella posizione di partenza tenendo
premuto il tasto di sbloccaggio centrale 4.
• Premendo il tasto di regolazione il piede di supporto 3 può essere spinto
nella sua posizione di partenza e quindi chiuso in modo salvaspazio.
INSTALLING THE INFANT CAR SEAT
ON THE BASE
NOTE! Make sure that the surface of the base is clear of free objects.
• Place the car seat in rearward facing position on the base. Please ensure
that both locking bars lock with an audible „CLICK“.
• Check whether the base indicator on the base is GREEN. If the indicator
7 is not green, the car seat is not sufficiently locked. If necessary, repeat
the procedure.
• Make sure that the child is secured with the integrated harness system.
MONTAGGIO DEL SEGGIOLINO AUTO
SULLA BASE
AVVISO! Accertarsi che sulla superficie della base non siano presenti
corpi estranei.
• Posizionare il seggiolinoauto sulla base nel senso opposto a quello di
marcia. Accertarsi che le due aste di blocco si innestino con un “CLIC”
udibile.
• Controllare se l’indicatore della base è VERDE. Se l’indicatore 7 non è
VERDE, vuol dire che il seggiolino non è bloccato correttamente. Ripete
re eventualmente la procedura.
• Accertarsi che il bambino sia stato allacciato con il sistema di cinture di
sicurezza integrato.

Ausbau
Drücken Sie die zentrale Entriegelungstaste 8, um den Kindersitz von der

Anpassen der Kopfstütze
HINWEIS! Nur eine in optimaler Höhe eingestellte Kopfstütze 9 gewährt
Ihrem Kind größtmöglichen Schutz und Komfort.
• Die Kopfstütze 9 muss so eingestellt werden, dass nicht mehr als
maximal zwei Finger breit zwischen Schulter des Kindes und Kopfstütze
9 frei bleiben.
• Betätigen Sie die Einstelltaste an der oberen Kante der Kopfstütze 9 und
führen Sie diese in die gewünschte Position.
Der Indikator 11 an der Kopfstütze 9 zeigt zusätzlich an, ab welcher Größe
des Kindes ein Umbau auf vorwärtsgerichtet frühestens empfohlen wer
den kann. Eine vorwärtsgerichtete Verwendnung ist nur dann zugelassen,
wenn:
• das Kind > 76 cm groß ist und
• das Kind mindestens im 16. Lebensmonat ist. Es wird empfohlen,
den Sitz so lange wie möglich in der rückwärtsgerichteten Position zu
verwenden und
• die korrekt eingestellte Kopfstütze 9 den Indikator 11 verdeckt.
HINWEIS! Mit der zusätzlich erhältlichen Kio Neugeborenen Einlage 10
kann der Kio bereits ab 40 cm genutzt werden.
• Legen Sie die Neugeborenen Einlage 10 in die Sitzschale unter das
Gurtsystem.
• Ab einer Körpergröße von 61 cm soll die Einlage 10 entfernt werden.

Removal
Push the central release button 8 to unlock the car seat from the
base. Tilt the seat a little. The base indicator now shows red. Now you can
release the unlocking buttons to lift the car seat off the Base.
REARWARD-FACING USE (60-105 cm)
Adjusting the headrest
NOTE! Only when adjusted to the most suitable height, the headrest 9
offers your child the best protection and safety.
• The headrest 9 must be adjusted to leave a maximum space of two
fingers width between the child‘s shoulders and the headrest 9.
• Activate the adjustable handle on the top side of the headrest 9 and
move it into the required position.
The indicator 11 on the headrest 9 shows the height of the child from
which the seat is recommended for forwardfacing use at the earliest. The
seat may only be used forward-facing, if:
• the child is > 76 cm tall and
• the child is min. 16 months old. We recommend to use the seat as long
as possible in rearward-facing position and
• the correctly adjusted headrest 9 covers the indicator 11.
NOTE! Kio can be used from 40cm with the additionally available newborn
inlay 10.
• Put the newborn inlay 10 into the seat shell underneath the integrated
harness.
• Please remove the newborn inlay 10 when the child reaches a body
height of 61 cm.
Smontaggio
Premere il tasto di sbloccaggio centrale anteriore 8 per sganciare il seggio
linoauto dalla base. Inclinare leggermente il seggiolino. L’indicatore della
base diventa ROSSO. Ora i tasti di sbloccaggio possono essere rilasciati e
il seggiolinoauto può essere rimosso dalla base.

Adattamento del poggiatesta
AVVISO! Solo un poggiatesta regolato all’altezza ottimale 9 garantisce la
massima sicurezza e il massimo comfort per il vostro bambino.
• Il poggiatesta 9 deve essere regolato in modo che tra la spalla del
bambino e il poggiatesta 9 non rimangano più di due dita.
• Azionare il tasto di regolazione posto sul bordo superiore del poggiatesta
9 e portare quest’ultimo alla posizione desiderata.
L’indicatore 11 del poggiatesta 9 mostra anche a partire da quale altezza
minima del bambino può essere consigliato il passaggio al trasporto nel
senso di marcia. Un uso nel senso di marcia è consentito solo se:
• il bambino ha un’altezza > 76 cm e
• il bambino ha compiuto il 16° mese di età. Si consiglia di usare il più a
lungo possibile il seggiolino nel senso opposto a quello di marcia e che
• il poggiatesta regolato correttamente 9 copra l’indicatore 11.
AVVISO! Con la riduzione neonato Kio 10 disponibile come accessorio, Kio
più essere usato già a partire da un’altezza di 40 cm.
• Inserire la riduzione neonato 10 nella struttura sotto al sistema di cinture
di sicurezza
• A partire da un’altezza di 61 cm la riduzione 10 può essere rimossa

als 15 Monate und mindestens 76 cm groß ist. Um Ihrem Kind den best
möglichen Schutz zu bieten, empfehlen wir, den RECARO Kio so lange
wie möglich rückwärtsgerichtet zu verwenden. Sollte aber, unter oben ge
nannten Voraussetzungen, der Platz für die Beine Ihres Kindes nicht mehr
ausreichend sein, können Sie den RECARO Kio auch vorwärtsgerichtet
verwenden.
HINWEIS! Unfallstatistiken belegen, dass ein rückwärtsgerichteter Trans
port Ihres Kindes im Fahrzeug am sichersten ist. Deshalb empfehlen wir,

FORWARD-FACING USE
(76-105 cm and older than 15 months)
Using the seat in forward-facing position is permitted if the child is older
than 15 months and min. 76 cm tall. In order to offer your child the highest
level of protection, we recommend to use RECARO Kio in the rearward-fa
cing position for as long as possible. If there is not enough room for your
child´s legs you can use the RECARO Kio in the forward-facing position.
Learn more about how to secure your child in section „STRAPPING WITH
HARNESS SYSTEM“.
NOTE! Accident statistics prove that the safest way to transport your child
in the car is in the rearward-facing position. Therefore we recommend to
use RECARO Kio in the rearward-facing position for as long as possible.
NOTE! The indicator 11 on the headrest 9 shows the body height of the
child, from which the seat can be changed to the forward-facing use at
the earliest.
The seat may only be used forward-facing, if:

• Die Kopfstütze 9 muss so eingestellt werden, dass der Abstand

zwischen den Schultern des Kindes und der Kopfstütze 9 2 cm (ca. 2
Finger) nicht überschreitet.
• Lockern Sie die Schultergurte 12, indem Sie die Verstelltaste am Zentral-
versteller betätigen und gleichzeitig beide Schultergurte 12 nach oben
ziehen.
• Betätigen Sie den Verstellgriff an der Oberkante der Kopfstütze 9, um
die Kopfstütze 9 in die passende Position zu bringen.
• Achten Sie darauf, dass die Kopfstütze in der gewünschten Position mit
einem hörbaren Klick einrastet.
HINWEIS! Die Schultergurte 12 sind mit der Kopfstütze 9 fest verbunden
und müssen nicht separat eingestellt werden.
