Connecting auxiliary
device

Connect your auxiliary audio
player (e.g. mp3 player) with an
audio cable (not included) to the
AUX IN jack on the left side of
the unit.

Selecting AUX IN mode

• Press AUX ON/OFF on the
back of the unit to select AUX
IN mode.

• Press AUX ON/OFF again to
exit from the AUX IN mode
and resume to standby mode.

Plugging in for power

AC OUTLET POWER SUPPLY:
120V~60Hz

The AC power plug is
polarized (one blade is
wider than the other)
and only fi ts into AC
power outlets one way.
If the plug will not go into the
outlet completely, turn the plug
over and try to insert it the other
way. If it still does not fi t, contact
a qualifi ed electrician to change
the outlet, or use a different one.
Do not attempt to bypass this
safety feature.

Power is fed to the unit even
when it is not functioning. To cut
the power supply off, the power
cable must be unplugged.

If you set Sleep function
with low volume level
before going to bed, we
advise using Wake to alarm
mode.

Battery back-up operation

The power failure protection
circuit will not operate unless
battery is installed.

When the battery backup
functions, the digital display will
not light, however, the wake
function still occurs during the
power interruption if remaining
battery power is adequate.

Normal operation will resume
after AC power is restored so you
will not have to reset the time or
wake.

Install battery as follow:

1. Remove battery compartment
door (located at the bottom of
the radio) by applying thumb
pressure to the tab on battery
door and then lift the door
out and off the cabinet.

2. Connect a 9-volt battery (not
supplied) to the connector
plug.

3. Replace the compartment door.

Power failure indicator

When AC power is interrupted
(disconnected) for a short period
of time, both time and alarm
settings will change (unless
battery is installed). After AC
power is restored (reconnected),
the Digital Display will blink
to indicate that power was
interrupted and you should
readjust the time and alarm
settings.

Display brightness

Clock time and radio frequency
are displayed on the display area
at the front of the unit. You
can adjust the brightness of the
display by rotating BRIGHTNESS
on the back of the unit.

Setting clock

Turn the clock setting knob on
the back of the unit to adjust
clock time. The time decrements
or increments will follow by a
faster rate when you turn and
hold the knob. The digital clock
shows and a clock icon fl ashes
on the display while you are
adjusting the time.

Selecting between
analogue and digital clock

Press DISPLAY to select between
analogue and digital clock display.

Switching on/off

Press to turn on or off the radio.

Switching band

Slide the BAND AM/FM switch on
the back of the unit to select FM
or AM band.

Tuning radio

Turn the TUNING knob on the
left of the unit to adjust radio
frequency.

Antennas

AM Antenna – A built-in ferrite
rod antenna eliminates the need
for an outside antenna for AM
reception. Rotating the unit
slightly may improve reception of
distant AM stations.

FM Antenna – The power cord
acts as your FM antenna. The
power cord picks up moderate
to strong stations and eliminates
the need for an external antenna
in most strong signal areas. Be
sure the power cord is stretched
out to its full length. Do not
coil or bunch the cord together.

Changing position of the power
cord may improve reception.

Built-In AFC – The Built In
Automatic Frequency Control
(AFC) works only on FM. It helps
reducing drift on FM reception
and keeping the radio locked in
on the FM station to which it is
tuned.

When tuning in FM stations, you
may notice that the station you
are tuning can be well-tuned on
two or three nearby points on the
dial. Always tune carefully at the
loudest and clearest point.

Auxiliary input

Adjust the auxiliary
device to mid-range
volume and adjust the
master volume by rotating
VOLUME knob on the unit.
Do not turn the volume of the
auxiliary device too high as this
may affect the sound quality.
For other playback operations,
control them on your auxiliary
device.

Wake function

Setting wake time

This unit allows two wake times
to be set.

• Turn the wake time setting
knob or on the back
of the unit to adjust wake
time 1 and 2 respectively.

• The time decrements or
increments will follow by a
faster rate when you turn and
hold the knob.

• “WAKE 1” or “WAKE 2” icon
fl ashes on the display while
you are adjusting respective
wake time.

Selecting wake source

You may be woken up by radio
or alarm.

1. Select an AM or FM station
(see directions on “Radio”).

2. Set a wake time (see above
direction).

3. Slide the switches on the sides
of the unit to / (wake
by alarm) or / (wake
by radio). Corresponding icon
lights on the front of the unit.

– Wake 1 by alarm

Checking wake time

• Press WAKE 1 CHECK TIME
or WAKE 2 CHECK TIME on
the sides of the unit to check
respective wake time. Wake
time shows briefl y on the
display.

• “OFF” shows on the display
if no wake source is selected
while you are checking the
wake time.

Turning off the wake
alarm or radio

• Press SNOOZE on the top of
the unit. The wake alarm or
radio will be switched off
temporarily. The alarm or
radio will be on again when
the snooze period is over. (see
“SmartSnoozeTM Operation”)

• To turn off the wake alarm
or radio completely, press

.
The wake alarm or radio will
activate again the next day
unless you switch off the wake
function (see “Switching off
wake function”).

SmartSnoozeTM operation

This operation allows extra sleep
time after the wake function
is on. The alarm will be off by
pressing SNOOZE, SLEEP or
DISPLAY until the snooze period
is over. Snooze period can be
set between 1 and 30 minutes
(default: 9 min).

Set the “quiet” period as follow:

1. Press and hold SNOOZE.

2. Turn the clock setting knob
on the back of the unit to
adjust the snooze “quiet”
period (default: 9 min). The
time decrements or increments
will follow by a faster rate
when you turn and hold the
knob.

Switching off wake
function

Slide the switches on the sides
of the unit to OFF to switch off
respective wake function. The set
wake time will not be erased and
can be used the next day when
you switch on wake function
again.

In sleep mode, you can set the
duration (up to 2 hours) before
the radio turn off automatically.

1. Press and hold SLEEP and turn
the clock setting knob on
the back of the unit to adjust
the duration up to 2 hours.
The time decrements or
increments will follow by a
faster rate when you turn and
hold the knob.

• Note: The radio will be
switched on.

2. To check the remaining
duration before the radio turns
off, press and hold SLEEP.

3. To cancel the sleep function,
press SNOOZE or .

Alkaline (NEDA 1604A/
IEC 6LR61) battery is
recommended. Carbon­zinc battery may be used but
memory holding time will
be substantially reduced.
Memory holding time for
a fresh alkaline battery is
approximately 8 hours (if radio
or alarm are not operated)
which should take care of
short, nuisance-type AC power
failures. To preserve battery
life, the unit should remain
plugged into an AC outlet.
As the battery gets older, its
voltage drops and memory may
be lost. Be sure to replace the
battery periodically. Battery
should be removed if the unit
will be stored for more than
one month. Leaky battery can
badly damage the clock radio.

Esta unidad permite establecer
dos horas para despertar.

• Deslice la perilla de ajuste
de la hora para despertar
ó en la parte posterior
de la unidad para ajustar
la hora de despertar 1 y 2

• Los decrementos o incrementos

velocidad más rápida cuando
usted presiona y sostiene la

Funcionamiento
SmartSnooze™

Esta operación permite tiempo
extra para dormir después de que
la función despertar es activada.
La alarma se apagará presionando
SNOOZE, SLEEP or DISPLAY
hasta que el periodo dormitar se
termine. Seleccione el periodo
dormitar de 1 a 30 mintuos (valor
predeterminado: 9 minutos).

Establezca el período de
“quietud” como sigue:

1. Presione y sostenga SNOOZE.

2. Gire la perilla de ajuste del
reloj en la parte posterior
de la unidad para ajustar el
periodo “quieto” de dormitar
(valor predeterminado: 9
minutos). Los decrementos
e incrementos de tiempo
seguirán una velocidad más
rápida cuando usted presione y

Operación de batería de
respaldo

El circuito de protección de
interrupción de energía no
funcionará a menos que la batería
esté instalada.

Al utilizar la unidad con las pilas
de reserve, el display digital no
se iluminará, pero la función de
alarma se activará de todos modos
durante el corte de electricidad,
si las pilas tienen sufi ciente
potencia.

Al restablecer la alimentación,
se reanuda el normal
funcionamiento, por lo que no
tendrá que volver a ajustar la hora
ni la alarma.

Instalación de las pilas:

1. Retire la tapa del
compartimiento (en la
parte inferior de la unidad),
apretando el pasador con el
pulgar y retirando la tapa.

2. Conecte una batería de 9
voltios (no suministrada) a la
entrada del conector.

3. Reemplace la puerta del
compartimento.

Indicador de fallo de
alimentación

Si se interrumpe la alimentación
(desconexión) durante un breve
periodo de tiempo, cambiará el
ajuste de la hora y de la alarma
(a menos que estén instaladas
las pilas). Cuando se restablezca
la alimentación (reconexión), el
display digital parpadeará para
indicar que se ha interrumpido la
alimentación y que debe volver a
ajustar la hora y la alarma.

Se recomiendan baterías
alcalinas (6LR61/NEDA
1604A).
La batería de carbón-zinc
puede ser usada pero el tiempo
de retención en memoria será
substancialmente reducido.
El tiempo de retención en
memoria para una batería
alcalina fresca nueva es de
aproximadamente ocho horas
(si el radio o la alarma no son
operados) lo cual debería ser
sufi ciente para molestas fallas
de energía CA del tipo de corta
duración. Para preservar la
vida de la batería, la unidad
debería permanecer conectada
a una toma de corriente CA.
Conforme la batería pierde
energía, su voltaje cae y la
memoria se puede perder.
Asegúrese de reemplazar la
batería periódicamente. La
batería debería ser retirada
si la unidad será almacenada
por más de un mes. Una
batería con fuga puede dañar
seriamente el radio reloj.
