DATE: November 01, 2002 MODELS: BD20TF10 TOPIC: Original DVD and Gemstar module not interchangeable with new version.
Symptom: Unit will not power up. Cause: Original DVD module has an IR decoder PCB that the new one does not, also Gemstar module has
changed to incorporate IR decoding.
Cure:
If the DVD module or Gemstar module are suspected to be defective look at the DVD module to determine if it has the IR decoder PCB, if so you this is the original module. See pictures:

These mounting screws are visible through the back of the DVD module if the unit has the original DVD and Gemstar modules. The original DVD modules are no longer available. Order part number 258340 “Kit DVD/Gemstar”, if you need an original Gemstar module, part number 256932, check to
the part number 258340 the TV chassis main PCB must be modified by removing JR512 and adding JR513. These jumpers are SMDs on the PCB bottom side location E0. No re-alignment is required. Below is a chart showing all the modules involved in this change:

If the set was manufactured with the new version DVD and Gemstar modules order only the replacement module, the kit is not necessary.
