EMCinstallationguidelines

Raymarineequipmentandaccessoriesconformtotheappropriate ElectromagneticCompatibility(EMC)regulations,tominimize electromagneticinterferencebetweenequipmentandminimizethe effectsuchinterferencecouldhaveontheperformanceofyour system
CorrectinstallationisrequiredtoensurethatEMCperformanceis notcompromised.
ForoptimumEMCperformancewerecommendthatwherever possible:
•Raymarineequipmentandcablesconnectedtoitare:
–Atleast1m(3ft)fromanyequipmenttransmittingorcables
carryingradiosignalse.g.VHFradios,cablesandantennas. InthecaseofSSBradios,thedistanceshouldbeincreased to7ft(2m).
–Morethan2m(7ft)fromthepathofaradarbeam.Aradar
beamcannormallybeassumedtospread20degreesabove andbelowtheradiatingelement.
•Theproductissuppliedfromaseparatebatteryfromthatused forenginestart.Thisisimportanttopreventerraticbehavior anddatalosswhichcanoccuriftheenginestartdoesnothave aseparatebattery .
•Raymarinespeciedcablesareused.
•Cablesarenotcutorextended,unlessdoingsoisdetailedin theinstallationmanual.
Note:Whereconstraintsontheinstallationpreventanyof theaboverecommendations,alwaysensurethemaximum
possibleseparationbetweendifferentitemsofelectrical equipment,toprovidethebestconditionsforEMCperformance throughouttheinstallation

•Beforemountingthehydraulicram,refertotheguidanceprovided inthe2.8Locationandmountingrequirementssection.
•Drill4holesforthemountingfoot(eachholemustbe8.8mm (0.34in)diameter).
•Attachthemountingfoottotheappropriatepartofyourvessel usingthesuppliedbolts,washers,andnuts.
•Tightentheboltsto17Nm(12.5lbft)torque.
Therodendofthehydraulicrammustbeconnectedtothevessel’s tillerarmorrudderquadrant.
Beforeconnectingthehydraulicramtothesteeringsystem,ensure thatyourvessel’stillerarmorrudderquadrantcancopewiththe peakthruststatedintheTechnicalSpecication.
Useoneofthefollowingmethodstoattachthepushrodtothe rudderstock:

•Securethereservoirtotheappropriatepartofyourvessel,using themountingholesprovided.Usesuitablestainlesssteelbolts, washersandlocknuts.
Thehydraulicuidreservoirissuppliedemptyandmustbelledto thecorrectlevelwiththesuppliedhydraulicuid.
DoNOTattempttomoveoroperatethehydraulicpushrodbefore completingthefollowingsteps:
1.Thereservoiristtedwithaspecialcapfeaturingabreather hole,whichissealedfortransitpurposes.Removethetransit screwandsealfromthecaptoopenthebreather.Retainthe screwandsealforfutureuse.

Theoillevelwillrisewhentherodisretractedandmayoverow .
