General Description
The KDC 6 is an option for the Rane model MA 6S that
allows operation from +
to the inside of the MA 6S. The KDC 6 kit is shipped with all
the necessary components. The installation is not complicated
but does require some technical skill. For that reason it's
recommended that if you don't know which end is the handle
of a screwdriver, you should probably refer installation to
someone who does.
The KDC 6 is useful in locations that have only DC
voltage, or where battery backup is desired or required. When
used as a battery backup, the KDC 6 will automatically switch
the MA 6S from AC supply to a DC supply in the event of
AC power supply failure—with only a 4.5 second interruption
to program material. This is useful for public address systems
where emergency instructions are broadcast over the PA
system during fires or other catastrophes. When used as a DC

only supply, the KDC 6 allows MA 6S use in applications
where high quality amplifiers are not usually found, such as
on floats: Just picture your ten story, helium filled cartoon
character tethered to your float, pumping out six channels of

Due to the low operating voltage of the KDC 6, a reduction in the power output capability is expected and should be
noted for your installation. Refer to the specification section
for more details. All functionality and reliability of the MA
6S is maintained when using the KDC 6.
The MA 6S's operation will be protected against “brown
out” power conditions as well as complete failure of the AC
line when the KDC 6 is properly installed. So sleep restfully
