Introduction & Support Product Overview
Thanks for purchasing the Rane DR6. The DR6 is a fully customizable
touchscreen remote for the HAL family. It supports multiple pages or tabs
and any set of levels, toggles, selectors and/or commands. Drag, drop
and resize controls any way you want. Use custom background images
and logos in full-color on the 7-inch LCD. The Control Page Designer in
Halogen allows you to create one set of pages and use them in a web
control design, DR6 display or both. Multiple on-screen user-access
logins secure the management pages from public or staff use, and a
programmable ambient light sensor automatically dims the backlight.
Screw the included wall-mount bracket over U.S. or international
electrical boxes, or flush-mount the DR6 with a square hole in the wall
to accommodate the cable. Use shielded Cat 5e (or better) cables to
connect a Rane RPI (sold separately) to DR6 and any HAL to deliver
communications and the extra power needed for the display.
Before using DR6, you must load a properly designed system
configuration using a Windows PC and Halogen software. Once a
configuration is loaded into DR6, you no longer need a computer to
operate the DSP. (Failure to load a configuration will result in no audio
output—”lights, no sound.”) Download Halogen and the DR6 operating

The earliest supported operating system is Windows 7 with SP1, 32-bit
or 64-bit. You don’t need a static IP; Halogen will find the DR6 unit
using our proprietary RaneLink auto-discovery service.
