1. GENERAL INFORMATION
THB module is a measuring device cooperating with laboratory balances of 3Y, 4Y, X2
series, PCs and ECR recorders. The THB module enables measurement of ambient
conditions parameters (temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure) at the workstation.
The indications may be displayed either on an indicator screen or a computer screen.
On the basis of measurement values transferred from the THB module, the 3Y, 4Y, X2
balance program determines air density. The determined air density is displayed on the
screen too.
THB.PC module (PC version) is operated using „THB-R Single” software.
THB.R module (ECR recorder version) is operated using „THB-R Multi” software.
2. THB MODULE DESIGN
THB.x module:
1 – housing,
2 – sensors shield,
3 – connector for an additional temperature sensor (TH-W2),
4 – cable terminated with a respective connector (connector type conditioned by THB
module model):
DSUB15 – for THB.Y;
DB9 – for THB.X and THB.PC;
PS2 – for THB.R.

ECR recorder:
1 – housing,
2 – power supply,
Connectors arrangement:
a – power supply socket,
b – RS232 connector, recor der -computer connection via PT0228 cable,
b – USB B connector, recorder-computer connection via standard USB cable,
d – PS2 connector, for connection of liquid aspirator (weighing table for pipettes calibration),
e – 2 x PS2 connector, for connection of THB.R modules.
3. UNPACKING
3.1. Unpacking
Unpack the device, remove protection, next carefully take the THB module out of the box
and place it at its workstation.

4. START-UP
4.1. THB.Y and THB.X Modules
In order to run the module, connect it to the weighing device. Next, following instructions
provided in user manual of the balance, set communication parameters.
THB.Y
THB.Y has been designed to enable measurement of ambient conditions. It cooperates with
laboratory balances of 3Y and 4Y series. It is connected directly to COM 2 port of the
balance.
THB.Y allows to measure: air temperature, atmospheric pressure, air humidity.
Set components:
- THB.Y module, and
- TH-W2 water temperature sensor, on purchase order.

THB.X
THB.X has been designed to enable measurement of ambient conditions. It cooperates with
laboratory balances of X2 series. It is connected directly to either COM 1 or COM 2 port of
the balance. THB.X allows to measure: air temperature, atmospheric pressure, air humidity.
Set components:
- THB.X module, and
- TH-W2 water temperature sensor, on purchase order.

4.2. THB.PC Modules
In order to run the module, connect it to the computer.
On your computer install the THB-R-Single software enabling readout of measured quantities
values, next set communication parameters. In order to do it correctly, follow instructions
provided in user manual of the balance.
THB.PC
THB.PC has been designed to enable measurement of ambient conditions. It is connected
directly to a computer port via RS232. Additionally it is necessary to connect the power
supply to it (see the figure below).
THB.PC allows to measure: air temperature, atmospheric pressure, air humidity.
Set components:
- THB.PC module,
- Power supply 12V,
- THB-R-Single software, and
- TH-W2 water temperature sensor, on purchase order.

4.3. ECR Recorder and THB.R Set
In order to run the ECR recorder, connect it to the computer, next connect the THB.R module
to the recorder.
On your computer install the THB-R-Multi software enabling readout of measured quantities
values, next set communication parameters. In order to do it correctly, follow instructions
provided in user manual of the balance.
The ECR cooperates with THB.R (see the figure below). It records ai r temper at ur e,
atmospheric pressure and air humidity values read from connected THB.R modules. The
ECR can record values from 2 THB.R mod ules simultaneously.
By standard the set comprises one THB.R module.
The ECR recorder enables readout of metrological data simultaneously from all the
connected modules within a specified time interval. The data is saved to the recorder's
internal memory.
The recorder is powered by an external 10-20VDC power supply, or USB interface.
Additionally it features an internal battery. The battery is charged when the ECR recorder is
connected to a PC using USB port (e.g. during readout of the data from the recorder's
internal memory), and when operating with use of external power supply.
RS232 and USB interfaces enable connecting the recorder to a PC with installed THB-Multi
software, which software allows preview and readout of the parameters saved to the
recorder.

- additional THB.R module, on purchase order.

5. MAINTENANCE, SERVICE, RECYCLING
Any maintenance activities (cleaning) must be performed after disconnection of the device
from both the balance and the compu ter .
5.1. Maintenance
Power supply housing and sensors shield can be cleaned using cloth soaked with
alcohol-based substance.
5.2. Service
Only authorized RADWAG service points are allowed to disassembly, repair and modify
the module.
5.3. Recycling
The device and the packaging must be recycled in accordance with valid state
regulations.
