Your Radio Shack AMX-14 Shielded Speaker System provides superior sound from your portable radi o, tap e player, CD player, a personal com­puter, or multimedia system. It is compatible with most sound card technology to enhance voice synthe­sized programs, multimedia presen­tations, and video games. In addition, it is fully shi elded to protect your video monitor, hard drive, and diskettes from magnetic interference.
The included brackets and s trap as­sembly let you easily mount the speakers on your monitor (if smaller than 17 inches), or you can place them on a table or shelf.

INSTALLATION
MOUNTING THE SPEAKERS ON A PERSONAL COMPUTER
For the best stereo effect, follow these steps to mount these speakers on either side of your video monitor.
1. Secure the speakers to the mounting brackets using the supplied screws and washers, as shown.

2. Loop the mount ing strap around the monitor so the brackets are positioned on either side of the monitor and there are no twists in the strap. Then buckle the ends of the strap together. Pull the loose end of the strap as shown to tighten the brackets to the monitor.

PLACING THE SPEAKERS ON A DESK OR TABLE
You can place the speakers on a desk or shelf near your computer. For the best results, place the speak­ers about 1 to 2 feet apart.

CONNECTING TO YOUR AUDIO SYSTEM
Follow these steps to connect your portable radio, tape player, CD play­er, or CD ROM player to the speaker system.
1. Plug the supplied patch cord’s white phono plug into the

jack on the back of the main speaker. Then plug the red phono plug into the red jack.
2. Press the satellite speake r’s red

3. Press the satellite speaker’s black (–) lever, insert the end of the solid b lack wire into the c on­nector’s hole, then release the lever.

OPERATION
Follow these steps to use your speakers.

in. The power

3. Operate the audio source according to its owner’s manual.
4. Adjust

speaker for the best sound.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Your AMX-14 Shielde d Speaker System is an example of s uperior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for your speaker sys­tem so you can enjoy it for years.
Keep the speaker system dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediate­ly. Liquids might con tain m ineral s th at can c orrode th e el ectronic circuits.
Use and store the speaker system only in normal temperature en­vironments. Temperature extremes can sh orten the life of elec­tronic devices, and distort or melt plastic parts.
Handle the speaker system gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage the circuit boards and can cause it to work improperly.
Keep the speaker system away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts.
Wipe the speaker system with a damp cloth occasionally to keep

it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean it.
Modifying or tampe ring with the AMX-14 Amplified Speaker System’s internal components can cause a malfunction a nd might invalidate its wa rranty. If your speaker system is not performing as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance.
