FCC INFORMATION
We have designed your Wireless Phone Jack System to conform
to federal regulations, and you can connect it to most telephone
lines. However, each device that you connect to the phone line
draws power from it. We refer to this power draw as the device’s
Ringer Equivalence Number, or
base unit’s label).
If you are using more than one phone or other device on the line,
add up all the RENs. If the total is more than five, your phones
might not ring. In rural areas, a total REN of three might impair
ringer opera ti on. If ringer operation is i m paired, disconnect one of
the devices from the line.
Your Wireless Phone Jack System has a REN of 0.7dB; therefore, it should not affect your phones’ ability to ring. Also, the
phone you plug into the exten sion uni t does not pl ace any load on
the telephone line. However, the phone you plug into the base
unit might affe ct your phones’ abili ty to ring.
In the unli kely event that your W ir eless Phone Jack System causes problems on the phone line, the phone company can temporarily discontinue your service. If this happens, the phone
company attempts to notify you in advance. If advance notice is
not practical, the phone company notifies you as soon as possible and advises you of your right to file a compl aint with the FCC.

Also, the phone company can make changes to its lines, equipment, operation s, or procedures that could affect the operation of
this system. The telephone company notifies you of these changes in advance, so you c an take the necessary steps to prevent interruption of your telephone service.

Number and the REN to your phone company. These numbers
are located on the base unit’s label.
Note:
You must not connect your Wireless Phone Jack System
to any of the follow ing:
• coin-operated systems
• party-line systems
• most electroni c key phone systems
This equipment complies with the limits for a Class B digital device as specified in Part 15 of
reasonable prot ection against radio and TV interference in a residential area.
However, your equipment might cause TV or radio interference
even when it is operating properly. To eliminate interference, you

LIGHTNING
Your Wireless Phone Jack System has built-in protection circuits
to reduce the risk of damage from surges in telephone line and
power line current. These protection circuits meet or exceed the
FCC requirements. However, lightning striking the telephone or
power lines can damage your telephone.
Lightning damage is not common. Nevertheless, if you live in an
area that has severe electrical storms, we suggest that you unplug your phone during storms to reduce the possibility of damage.

This system has preset securi ty codes whi ch prevent interf erence
and background noise caused by similar systems. If you
encounter interference, follow these steps to set your security
codes.
Note:
You should only need to set the security code if you get in-
terference fr om another system.
1. With both the base and extension unit(s) installed and any
connected telephones on hook, press the coding button on
the side of the base unit with a pencil. The green indi cator on

Steps 4 and 5 in “Installation.” Then follow the steps in “Setting
the Security Code ” on Page 10 to set each extension’s code.
You can use only one extension at a time, even if you i nstal l more
than one. If you lift the receiver on a phone connected to an extension unit while another extension unit is being used, you hear
a busy signal.
USING THE SYSTEM WITH A COMPUTER
MODEM
Simply plug your computer modem’s telephone cord into an extension unit’s modular jack. The system supports speeds up to
14,400 bps.
Note:
If there is static on the system, you might need to set your
modem to a slower speed for effective communicat ions.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Your Radio Shack Wireless Phone Jack System is an exampl e of
superior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions
will help you care for your system so you can enjoy it for years.
• Keep the system dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.
Liquids can contain m inerals that corrode electronic circuits.
• Use and store the system only in normal temperature environments. Temperature extremes can shorten the life of
electronic devices, and distort or melt plastic parts.
• Handle the system gentl y and carefull y. Dropping it can damage circuit boards and cases and can cause the system to
work improperly.
• Keep the system away from dust and dirt, which can cause
premature wear of parts.
• Wipe the system with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it
looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents,
or strong deterge nts to clean your system.
Modifying or tampering with the system’s internal components
can cause a malfunction, invalidate its warranty, and void your
FCC authorization to operate it. If your system is not performing
as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance. If the trouble is affecting the telephone lines, the phone
company can ask you to disconnect your Wireless Phone Jack
System until you have resolved the problem.
