31/2-Inch Super Horn Tweeter
Your RadioShack 31/2-Inch Super Horn Tweeter features a high quality ceramic bimorph driver elem ent. Thi s cer ami c driv er repl aces the trad itional voice coil and magnetic structure, completely eliminating the most common causes of magnetic tweeter failure — distortion due to mechanical interference (such as dirt on the voice coil) and magnetic interference from the voice coil.
The tweeter requires no crossover network (crossover is optional), no specific baffling, and can be used on most 4-, 8-, and 16-ohm speakers.
WIRING
Make sure the audio system is off before you connect any wires, and leave enough slack in the wires so they can easily reach the terminals.
Connect speaker wire from one of your audio system’s positive outputs to one of the tweeter’s positive (+) terminals.
Connect speaker wire from your audio system’s matching negative output to one of the tweeter’s negative (–) terminals.
Caution:
Be sure all wiring is clear of sharp edges.
MOUNTING
Before mounting your tweeter, wi re it to y ou r a udi o sy s tem a nd te st th e connections. Depending on the location you select, you might not be able to reach the tweeter’s terminals after mounting.
You need four
3
/16-inch screws (not supplied) to mount the tweeter inside an enclosure. If necessary, cut a 3-inch hole in the enclosure to accommodate the tweeter.
Mount the tweeter from the outside, so its front edge is flush with the front of the mounting surface for proper sound dispersion.
Follow these steps to mount the tweeter.
1. Use the tweeter’s horn as a template to mark the locations for the mounting holes.
2. Drill four
1
/8-inch (3 mm) holes in the mounting locations.
3. Secure the tweeter to the mounting location with the screws.
