Your radio uses three AAA batteries for power. For the best performance, we recommend RadioShack alkaline batteries. You can also use Ni-Cd/Ni-MH rechargeable batteries in the radio and recharge them using an optional 6V, series regulated, 1A DC-DC adapter, available at your local RadioShack store (use Adaptaplug H with tip set to positive).
....
1. Remove the belt clip by pulling up the tab and sliding the belt clip upward, then slide the battery compartment cover downward.
2. Set CHG ON/OFF to ON if you use rechargeable batteries or to OFF if you use non-rechargeable batteries.
3. Install the batteries according to the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked inside.
4. Replace the cover and the belt clip. When power is low, the radio beeps and the battery icon flashes. Replace or recharge the batteries.
