Kids’ Karaoke Machine
OWNER’S MANUAL — Please read before using this equipment.
Your RadioShack Kids’ Karaoke Machine is a portable, all-in-one sound system that lets y ou sin g a lon g w i th a ka raok e tape, or sim­ply listen to a regular cassette tape through the built-in speaker.

INSTALLING BATTERIES
Your karaoke machine requires four AA batteries (not supplied) for power. For the best perfo rmance and long est life, we rec om­mend RadioShack alkaline batteries.
Cautions:
• Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recom­mended type.
• Do not mix old an d new bat teries , different types of ba tteri es (standard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or rechargeable batter­ies of different capaciti es.
Follow these steps to install batteries.
1. Rotate
OFF/VOLUME

until it clicks to turn off the
karaoke machine.
2. Press the tabs on the battery compartment cover down and lift the cover to remove it.
3. Place the batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked inside.
4. Replac e the cover.
When the sound becomes weak or distorted or the karaoke ma­chine stops operating properly, replace the batteries.
Warning:
Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not
burn or bury them.

CONNECTING AN ADDITIONAL MICROPHONE
You can connect an optional microphone to the karaoke ma­chine's the supplied microphone. The optional microphone must have an OFF/ON switch and a machine's

LOADING A TAPE
Before you can begin singing along while listening to a cassette tape, you need to load a cassette tape that is prerecorded with your favorite tunes.
1. Lift up the cassette compartment cover.
2. Put the cassette tape into the compartment with the side you want to play facing out, the exposed tape edge facing the cassette controls, and the full reel to the left.

SINGING ALONG
Once you load a tape, follow these steps to sing along using your kids' Karaoke Music Machine.

RESTORING TAPE TENSION AND SOUND QUALITY
After you play a cassette tape several times, the tape might be­come tightly wound on the reels. This can cause playback sound quality to deteriorate.
To restore the sound quality, fast-forward the tape from the begin­ning to the end of one s ide, th en compl etely rewind i t. T hen lo osen the tape reels by gently tapping each side of the cassette's outer shell on a flat surface.
Caution:
Do not touch the ex posed tape o r allo w any sharp objec ts ne ar the cassette.
Be careful not to damage the cassette when tapping it.
CARE
To enjoy your RadioShack Kids ’ Karao ke Machin e for a long time:
• Keep the karaoke machine dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.
• Use and store the karaoke machine only in normal tempera­ture environments.
• Handle the kara oke mac hine g ently and c arefull y. Do no t drop it.

• Keep the karaoke machine away from dust and dirt.
• Wipe the kara oke machi ne with a damp cl oth occa siona lly to keep it looking new.
Modifying or tampering with the karaoke machine’s internal com­ponents can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warran­ty. If your karaoke machine is not performing as it should, take it to your local Ra dioShack store for assistance.
CLEANING THE TAPE-HANDLING PARTS
Dirt, dust or particles of the tape's coating can accumulate on the tape heads and other p arts tha t the tape touches. This can gre atl y reduce the performance of the system. After every 20 hours of tape player operation, follow these steps to clean the tape-han­dling parts.
1. Remove the batteries.

2. Open the cassette compartment door and press expose the tape-handl ing parts.
3. Use a cotton swab dipped in tape head cleaning solution or denatured alcohol to gently clean the record/playback head, pinch roller, capstan and tape guides.
