Quick install Guide for UltraTrak100 TX4/TX8
1. Take the unit out of the box. In the box you will see the following components:
I. One SCSI ultra wide SCSI cable II. Terminator III. Power Cable IV. Manual V. Keys
2. Connecting your UltraTrak configuration.
Connect the SCSI cable and proper termination of the SCSI ports (as required) on the
UltraTrak unit.
Use Ultra2 LVD SCSI or Ultra 3 compatible SCSI controller.
· Make certain if your UltraTrak is the last
Device on your SCSI chain that you use proper
termination.
· If your UltraTrak is the last device make
certain that you terminate the lower SCSI OUT port.
· Please see picture from proper termination
example.
· Next you will need to connect your SCSI
cable to your UltraTrak unit.
· In this particular example the UltraTrak is
terminated (being the last device in the chain).
· The SCSI cable is plugged into the upper
SCSI IN port.
· Make certain to select the correct voltage
setting for your area and then plug in your
power chord.

· Remove the enclosures from the UltraTrak100
Unit by opening the key to the open position.
· Insert the drives in each Enclosure so that each
drive is mounted properly,
· on the bottom of the enclosure you will find
four screws that will help secure the drive to the
enclosure.
· Before screwing the drive in place make sure
that the drive is connected properly.
· Insert the drive enclosure in the bay (NOTE:
be careful when inserting your bay into the
UltraTrak unit).
· Securely close the lever and make certain to
engage the keylock to turn your drive on and set it as active.
AUTOMATIC RAID 5 Congiuration: Boot the UltraTrak100. After booting the UltraTrak will display a screen “No array is defined”. Press the select key, the screen will display "Auto Array Setup". Press the Select key. The screen will display "*RAID Level" Press Select. Scroll down to "*Raid 5", press Select. You will see the message "Press SEL to create Press Exit to cancel” press SEL “Array has been created Please Restart UltraTrak.” follow the displayed message. After restarting the UltraTrak100 you notice that LCD screen displays the following message “Array Functional” or if you prefer to configure the array manually please read the following page.

I. Hard Drive Requirements
a. minimum of 3 drives required for a Raid 5 configuration.
b. All drives connected must be set to a Master or Single jumper
position.. c. The UltraTrak100 TX4 uses up to four IDE drives. d. The UltraTrak 100TX8 uses up to eight IDE drives.
II. Configuring a Raid 5 with your UltraTrak LCD screen
a. Power on the UltraTrak100 .
b. When the UltraTrak100 has completed booting, you will see a
screen that says “No array is defined”. c. Press the select key. d. After pressing the select key you will scroll down (using the
arrows) to the Configure Array option, once at this option you
will press the select key. e. After pressing the select key you will notice a new menu. f. You will scroll down to the View Drive Assignments option and
press on the select button.
g. Once in the View Drive Assignments you will verify that all the
drives inserted in the enclosures are being identified and
recognized. Note: if a drive is not identified you must go back and
make sure that the drive in question is jumpered and connected
correctly.
h. After pressing the button you will find your self in a different
menu, It will display a screen “*RAID Level” you will then press
the Select button .
i. In the new screen you will scroll down to the bottom will you will
select the *Raid5. j. After selecting Raid 5 a message will display the following:
“Press SEL to create, Press Exit to cancel” You will press SEL.
k. After pressing SEL the following message will be displayed
“Array has been created Please Restart UltraTrak”.
l. follow the displayed message.
m. After restarting the UltraTrak100 your array should boot and the
LCD screen will display the following message “Array
Functional”.
4. Preparing the new created Array
a. Boot into your choice of OS with your UltraTrak connected to a
Ultra2 SCSI LVD or Ultra 3 Host adapter.
b. At the command prompt you must execute FDISK and FORMAT
commands to prepare the drive.
c. NOTE: Be aware of OS / DOS limitations that apply.
d. Once the array has been prepared it will boot and access be done with
your Ultra2 SCSI / SCSI 3 supported Operating System.
