CHARGING WITH AC ADAPTOR
IMPORTANT: DO NOT POWER ANY APPLIANCE FROM THE JUMPSTARTER WHILE IT IS BEING CHARGED USING THE AC CHARGER.
1. To charge, plug the output end of the AC Charger into the charging socket (back of jumpstarter) and connect the Charger to a 240VAC outlet and turn ‘ON’.
2. The charging LED will illuminate red when charging and green when the jumpstarter is fully charged. The jumpstarter will automatically stop charging and the jumpstarter will initiate maintenance charge mode keeping the battery fully charged and ready for use without the risk of overcharging.
Charging time: 20–30 hours if the battery is down to 50% of its capacity.
WHEN TO CHARGE
Your jumpstarter is shipped fully charged, however, an extended period of time may elapse in shipment or storage before the jumpstarter is purchased. Therefore you should charge the jumpstarter before using it for the first time.
To prolong the life of your jumpstarter battery it is recommended to charge the jumpstarter after each use. If the jumpstarter is not being used, it is recommended to leave the jumpstarter permanently on charge ensuring the battery is always maintained fully charged and ready for use.
8
CHARGING WITH 12V DC
Your jumpstarter can be recharged from a 12V DC socket. A single-ended cigarette lighter plug and lead is included for recharging while driving.
1. Connect the 12V charging lead to your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket and to the jumpstarter’s charging socket.
2. Start the car. The alternator on the car will charge both the jumpstarter and the car battery at the same time. Once the car is stopped the jumpstarter will cease charging.
Note:
1. When charging with 12V DC the unit will only achieve around 90% charge capacity, so you can not over charge the jumpstarter. This is because the power from the DC socket does not achieve a high enough voltage to fully recharge the jumpstarter. To fully recharge the jumpstarter use the AC charger wherever possible.
2. It is also worth noting that appliances can be run from the jumpstarter whilst DC charging, for example a fridge or running a light. This is different from the instructions for AC charging.

USING THE PROJECTA HP900/HP1200 JUMPSTARTER AS A POWER SUPPLY
The jumpstarter utilises a 17Ah AGM battery (HP900) and 22Ah AGM battery (HP1200) and can be used as a power supply by connecting a cigarette lighter plug into the 12V DC socket at the front of the jumpstarter. It is recommended to check the battery capacity before using the jumpstarter as a power supply.
Below is a list of approximate run times for various appliances.
TYPICAL APPLIANCE RUNNING TIMES

Note: To get an accurate reading of the battery status, ensure there are no appliances connected to the jumpstarter and the jumpstarter is not being charged.
11
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. How do I work out how long my appliance will run from the Jumpstarter?
A. When the jumpstarter is fully charged the battery will be able to provide 17 Amp hours
(HP900) and 22 Amp hours (HP1200) of power. If you have an appliance that uses
2.5 Amps and you use it for one hour, you have just used 2.5 Amp hours. For example:
The HP1200 has a 22Ah battery and you are powering a small TV drawing approximately 2.5 Amps. Equation: 22 Amp hours ÷ 2.5 Amps = 8.8 Hours (9 hours)
Q. Why does my jumpstarter take so long to charge from my vehicle?
A. Car Cigarette Lighter sockets usually are connected to the battery with small (light)
cable. This small cable when charging the jumpstarter is not adequate and generates ‘voltage drop’. This voltage drop increases the time it takes to charge. To help fix this problem upgrade the cable between the battery and the cigarette lighter socket.
Q. When I use the 12 Volt DC sockets the appliance does not work?
A. Check to make sure the appliance does not exceed the rated current of the socket used.
Note: The cigarette lighter socket is rated for 10A. The socket has an internal automatic circuit breaker. So resetting the breaker will not be necessary as this is done automatically. The automatic circuit breaker may cycle ‘ON’ then ‘OFF’ if the load is close to the circuit breakers rated current.
Q. Why didn’t my jumpstarter start my vehicle?
A. There could be a number of reasons why the jumpstarter did not start you vehicle.
Check the following:
1. Ensure the battery is fully charged. Press the BATTERY STATUS button to check the
condition of the battery (state of charge). Refer to page 10 (“Checking Battery Capacity”) for further information.
2. Ensure you have followed the correct operating procedure. Refer to page 6 (“Vehicle
Jumpstarting Instructions”).
3. Ensure the vehicle operates on 12V DC.
4. The vehicle’s battery may be below 2.6V, the minimum start voltage for the jumpstarter.
Ensure all connections are correct, then press the OVER RIDE button, to manually activate the jumpstarter. Refer to page 6 (“Vehicle Jumpstarting Instructions, Step 5”) for further information.
5. Ensure the vehicle being jumpstarted does not require a clamp output greater than
275 Amps (HP900) or 380 Amps (HP1200) in order to jumpstart the vehicle.
