PRINCESS CLASSIC COFFEEMAKER ART 2136

VOOR HET GEBRUIK

Deze gebruiksaanwijzing eerst geheel doorlezen en bewaren om later nog eens te kunnen
raadplegen. Controleer of de netspanning in de woning overeenkomt met die van het apparaat. Sluit
dit apparaat alleen op een geaard stopcontact aan.

De koffiezetter met roestvrij stalen kan is geschikt voor maximaal 6 kopjes, heeft een handig
zwenkfilter met druppelstop en een aan/uit schakelaar met controlelampje.

Plaats de PRINCESS CLASSIC COFFEEMAKER op een stevig en stabiel tafel- of werkblad en
zodanig dat het apparaat niet gemakkelijk omgestoten kan worden.

GEBRUIK VAN DE KOFFIEZETTER

Laat de eerste keer het water zonder koffie door de PRINCESS CLASSIC COFFEEMAKER lopen
om het inwendige systeem te reinigenen. Spoel daarna de kan en de filterhouder nog even om.

Vul het reservoir met koud water, zwenk het filter naar buiten (aan de rechteronderzijde naar u toe
trekken) en doe een filterzakje (maat 101) en gemalen koffie in de filterhouder. Plaats de kan op het
warmhoudplaatje en schakel de koffiezetter in. Gebruik 2 tot 3 volle maatscheppen koffie voor een
volle kan water. Dit geeft een gemiddeld sterk resultaat.

LET OP: wacht na het koffiezetten minstens 5 minuten vóórdat een nieuwe kan gezet wordt, om
het apparaat te laten afkoelen.

WARMHOUDEN

Zolang de PRINCESS CLASSIC COFFEEMAKER ingeschakeld is zal de koffie op temperatuur
gehouden worden. De roestvrij stalen kan is geen isolatiekan, maar wordt door het
warmhoudplaatje op temperatuur gehouden. Dit betekent wel dat de kan aan de buitenzijde heet
wordt, raak deze dus niet aan als de koffiezetter in gebruik is.

SCHOONMAKEN

HAAL EERST DE STEKKER UIT HET STOPCONTACT
De koffiekan en filterhouder afspoelen. Deze onderdelen zijn niet vaatwasmachinebestendig. De
buitenkant kan met een vochtige doek afgenomen worden.

ONTKALKEN

Regelmatig ontkalken zal de levensduur van de koffiezetter zeer ten goede komen. Een vuistregel is
één keer per maand ontkalken. Bij zeer hard water zelfs twee keer per maand. Hard water is water
van meer dan 20º DH; DH betekent Duitse Hardheid en is een maat voor de hardheid van het water.
Uw waterleidingbedrijf kan de hardheid van uw leidingwater opgeven. Ook direct
ontkalken wanneer het apparaat:

• Pruttelende geluiden gaat maken,

• Het koffiezetten langer duurt dan normaal,

• Er na het koffiezetten water achter blijft in het reservoir.

Voor het ontkalken kunnen bijna alle in de handel verkrijgbare middelen worden gebruikt. Op de
verpakking hiervan staat aangegeven voor welke toepassing zij geschikt zijn. Uitgezonderd zijn
zoutzuur en zwavelzuur. Deze stoffen nooit voor het ontkalken toepassen.

Ga als volgt te werk:

• Laat het apparaat eerst voldoende afkoelen.

• Vul het reservoir met koud water.

• Doe bij het water een hoeveelheid ontkalkingsmiddel, zoals op de verpakking van het middel
aangegeven is.

• Doe een papierfilter in de filterhouder; vergeet niet de kan eronder te plaatsen.

• Schakel het apparaat in.

• Nadat ongeveer 2 kopjes water doorgestroomd zijn, het apparaat uitschakelen en een half uurtje
laten staan; het ontkalkingsmiddel kan dan inwerken.

• Hierna het apparaat weer inschakelen; als al het water met ontkalkingsmiddel doorgestroomd is,
het apparaat nog drie keer met schoon water laten werken om alle restanten ontkalkingsmidddel
eruit te spoelen

Let op: laat tussen iedere ‘doorspoelbeurt’ het apparaat een minuut of drie afkoelen. Bij verkalkte
apparaten vervalt de garantie.

PRINCESS RAADGEVINGEN

• Plaats het toestel op een stevig en stabiel oppervlak.

• Dompel het apparaat nooit in water of andere vloeistof onder.

• De buitenkant van de koffiekan wordt heet. Pak de kan dus alleen bij de handgreep beet.

• Zorg dat het apparaat niet zo dicht bij de rand van tafel, werkblad e.d. staat dat iemand het eraf
zou kunnen stoten; zorg ook dat het snoer niet zodanig hangt dat men erover zou kunnen
struikelen of erachter blijft haken. Bedenk dat de kan gevuld is met heet water!

• Gebruik het apparaat niet als het beschadigd is of als het snoer beschadigd is, maar stuur het dan
naar onze service dienst. Bij dit type toestellen kan een beschadigd snoer uitsluitend met speciaal
gereedschap door onze service dienst vervangen worden.

• Plaats het apparaat niet op of in de directe nabijheid van een hete kookplaat e.d.

• Trek altijd de stekker uit het stopcontact vóór het schoonmaken en bij storingen.

• Het warmhoudplaatje wordt erg heet: zorg dat kinderen er niet bij kunnen en wees er zelf ook
voorzichtig mee.

• Gebruik geen schurende of krassende schoonmaakmiddelen.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS:

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the
following

• Read the instructions carefully before operating this appliance.

• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

• To protect against risk of electrical shock do not put in water or other liquid.

• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

• Unplug from power outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before
cleaning.

• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or
is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility
for examination, repair or adjustment.

• The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric
shock or injury to persons.

• Do not use outdoors.

• Do not let power cord or the extension cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot
surfaces.

• Do not place place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

• Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

• Always close lid from the kettles when in use.

• Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.

• The USA-version of this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As
safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug doesn’t fit fully in
the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still doesn’t fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to
defeat this safety feature.

• For household use only.

• SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

PRINCESS TIPS

• Do not yank on any cord to disconnect.

• Never plug appliance in where water floods the area.

• Place the appliance on a firm and stable surface.

• Ensure that the appliance is not placed so close to the edge of the table, worktop, etc. that it may
be knocked off. Remember it is filled with hot water.

• The hotplate can get extremely hot: be careful and keep children away.

• Never immerse the appliance in water or in any other liquid.

• Do not use the appliance if it is damaged or if the cord is damaged. Send it back to
our service department. A damaged cord can only be replaced by our service
department, as special tools are needed for this.

• Do not use any abrasive or scouring cleaning agents.

BEFORE USE

Check whether the mains voltage in your home corresponds to that of the appliance. Use only an
earthed socket for this appliance.

The coffee machine has a stainless steel pot and can be used to make up to 6 cups of coffee. It has
a handy swivel filter with drip shield and an on-off switch with a pilot lamp.

Place the PRINCESS CLASSIC COFFEEMAKER on a stable, firm table or worktop so that the
appliance cannot be easily knocked over.

USING THE COFFEE MACHINE

Before using for the first time, fill the PRINCESS CLASSIC COFFEEMAKER with water and no
coffee and switch on to clean the inside of the appliance. Rinse the can and the filter holder.

Fill the reservoir with cold water, rotate the filter outwards (grip the right underside and pull it
towards you) and place a filter bag (size 101) with ground coffee in the filter holder. Place the can
on the hotplate and switch on the coffee machine. Use 2 to 3 full measures of coffee for a full can
of water. This will make the coffee average strength.

ATTENTION: After making coffee, allow the machine to cool down for at least five minutes before
making a new pot.

KEEPING THE COFFEE HOT

As long as the PRINCESS CLASSIC COFFEEMAKER is switched on, the coffee will be kept hot.
The stainless steel can does not have an insulating function but is kept at the right temperature by
the hotplate. This means that the outside of the can will get hot, so it should not be touched when
the coffee machine is switched on.

CLEANING

FIRST UNPLUG THE APPLIANCE
Rinse the coffee can and the filter holder. These parts are not dishwasher-safe. The outside can be
wiped with a damp cloth.

DESCALING

The coffee machine will have a longer life if it is regularly descaled. This should be done once a
month, or even twice a month in regions with very hard water. Hard water is considered to be water
with a hardness of more than 20º DH, which is a measuring scale for water hardness. Your water
company will be able to tell you how hard your water is. The appliance should also be descaled
immediately if:

• It makes bubbling noises;

• Making coffee takes longer than normal;

• Water remains in the reservoir after making coffee.

Almost all available descaling agents can be used to descale the machine. The
applications for which an agent is intended are stated on the packaging. Exceptions
are sulphuric acid and hydrochloric acid, which should never be used for descaling
purposes.

The following procedure should be taken:

• Let the appliance cool down properly.

• Fill the reservoir with cold water.

• Add a descaling agent to the water in the ratio indicated on the packaging.

• Put a paper filter in the filter holder. Do not forget to place the can under the filter.

• Switch on the appliance.

• After approximately 2 cups of water have passed through the appliance, turn it off and leave for
half an hour to allow the descaling agent to work.

• Turn the appliance on again. When all the water with descaling agent has passed through, run
clean water through the appliance three times to remove all traces of the descaling agent.

N.B.: Allow the machine to cool down for about three minutes after each rinse-through. The
guarantee will be invalid if the appliance is damaged by lime scale.

U.K. WIRING INSTRUCTIONS

The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
BLUE=NEUTRAL, BROWN=LIVE, GREEN-YELLOW=EARTH

As the colours of the wire in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the colour
markings identifying the terminals on your plug, proceed as follows:

The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter N or coloured black.

The wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.

THE GREEN-YELLOW WIRE should be connected to the earth terminal of a three pin plug
marked with the letter E or or coloured green and yellow.

With this appliance, if a 13 amp plug is used a 13 amp fuse should be fitted.

AVANT L’EMPLOI

Lisez attentivement ce mode d’emploi et conservez-le afin de pouvoir le consulter ultérieure ment
si nécessaire. Assurez–vous que la tension de voltage de votre domicile correspond bien à celle de
l’appareil. Cet appareil doit toujours être raccordé à une prise électrique avec mise à la terre.

La cafetière avec verseuse en inox convient pour préparer six tasses de café maximum ; elle est
équipée d’un filtre pivotant avec système anti-goutte et d’un interrupteur Marche/Arrêt avec voyant
lumi neux.

Posez votre PRINCESS CLASSIC COFFEEMAKER sur une table ou une surface solide et stable à
un endroit où il ne puisse pas être renversé par inadvertance. Dépliez complètement les pieds situés
sous l’appareil afin d’assurer sa stabilité.

FONCTIONNEMENT DE LA CAFETIERE

La première fois, faites passer l’eau sans mettre de café dans le PRINCESS CLASSIC
COFFEEMAKER afin de nettoyer la circuiterie interne. Rincez ensuite encore une fois la verseuse
et le porte-filtre.

Remplissez le réservoir d’eau froide, faites pivoter le filtre vers l’extérieur (en tirant le côté droit du
dessous vers vous), mettez un filtre en papier (taille 101) puis versez du café en poudre dans le
filtre. Placez la verseuse sur la plaque chauffante et allumez la cafetière. Mettre 2 à 3 doses de café
pleines pour une verseuse pleine d’eau. Vous obtiendrez ainsi un café moyennement fort.

ATTENTION : attendre au moins 5 minutes avant de préparer une autre verseuse de café afin de
laisser l’appareil refroidir.

POUR GARDER LE CAFE CHAUD

Le café est conservé à la bonne température tant que le PRINCESS CLASSIC COFFEEMAKER
reste allumé. La verseuse en inox n’est pas un thermos, elle garde la chaleur grâce à la plaque
chauffante. Cela signifie que la paroi extérieure de la verseuse peut être très chaude. Evitez donc de
la toucher lorsque la cafetière est en service.

NETTOYAGE

DEBRANCHEZ D’ABORD LA FICHE DE LA PRISE ELECTRIQUE
Bien rincer la verseuse et le filtre. Ces éléments ne sont pas lavables en machine. Nettoyer la paroi
extérieure avec un chiffon humide.

DETARTRAGE

Le détartrage fréquent de votre cafetière peut prolonger considérablement sa durée de
vie. Il est conseillé de détartrer une fois par mois. Et même deux fois par mois si
l’eau est très dure. L’eau est dure lorsque son taux d’hydrotimétrie (DH) est supérieur
à 20º; le DH est une mesure de dosage de la dureté de l’eau. Adressez-vous à votre
compagnie de distribution des eaux qui vous renseignera sur la dureté de l’eau dans
votre région.
