Please read these instructions carefully and familiarise yourself with your new toaster before using for the first time.

Ensure that the voltage indic ated on the identification plate corresponds with the mains

THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
IMPORTANT: The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the foll owing
code:
Green and Yellow - Earth Blue - Neutral Brown - Live
As the colours of the wires i n the mains lead of this appl i ance may not correspond with the coloured markings ident i fying the terminals in your pl ug, proceed as follows: ­The wire, which is, coloured green & yellow must be connected to the t erminal in the plug, which is marked with the lett er ‘ E’ or the earth symbol or coloured green or green & yellow The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter ´N’ or coloured black. The wire, which is coloured brown, must be connected to the terminal, which i s marked with the letter ‘L’, or coloured red.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS
Before switching ‘ON’, ens ure t hat the voltage on the rating plate is the same as in your home.
Ensure that the wall plug current output is adequate (920Watts).
Do not touch hot surfaces . Allow the toaster to cool bef ore moving.
Use the toaster without bread for the fi rst time. There will be some smoke at first: this is
normal.
The toaster reaches very high temperatures, particularly in the area of the opening for the bread.
Bread may burn. This toaster must not be used near or below curtains and other combustible m aterials.
Do not place the cable or any other object over the bread openings whilst the toast er i s in operation.
To protect against elect ri cal shock, do not im merse cord, plugs, or appliances in water or other liquid.
Close supervision i s necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
Do not leave the toaster unattended whilst in operation.
Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before pack i ng away.
Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance
malfunctions or has been managed in any manner. See warranty.
The use of accessory att achments not recommended by the appliance manuf acturer may cause injuries.
Do not attempt to dis l odge food while the toaster is in operation.
Toasting lever must be in the ‘UP’ position before attaching or disconnecting the plug f rom
wall outlet.
Do not insert metal objects or any other utensils into the toaster, as this could cause an electric shock or cause a fire.
Do not let cord hang over the edge of the table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heater oven.
To disconnect, remove pl ug from outlet.
Do not use this appliance for other than intended use. This applianc e i s for household use
only.
NEVER use the toaster without the crumb tray.
Do not use outdoors.
No liability can be accepted for any damage caused by noncompliance with these
instructions or any other improper use or mishandling.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE U SING TOASTER F OR THE FIRST TIME

Clean the outside of the toas t er as described under “CLEANING”. With the Browning cont rol adj usted to the maximum setting, operate the toast er without bread for 3-4 minutes. During this time the toaster may emit some odours. These odours are normal for a toaster being used for the fi rst time. The room s houl d be ventilated during this period.
Allow the toaster to cool to room temperature. The toas t er i s ready now for normal use.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Ensure lever is in the up position before plugging toaster i nto wall outlet.
2. Select the desired level of browning on the browning control. This will vary according to the moisture content and thickness of the bread; old bread toasts quicker t han fresh.
3. After selecting the desired level, place bread in slots and press lever downwards until it locks. When toasting only one sli ce, set the browning control to a low setting – either slot can be used. Toaster sl ot will automatically adjust to accommodate different bread thickness.
4. Once the browning level has been reached, the bread will pop up automatically. The bread carriage will have returned to its up position and have disconnected t he element, it is now ready for the next toasting.
5. If the toast jams in the slots , the toaster must be unplugged and the bread removed only when the toaster has cooled down. Do not use any metal impl ements.
6. Cancel Button: if you wish to cancel the toast i ng cycle at any stage during its operation, depress the cancel button.
7. Reheat Feature: if you wish to reheat toast which has previously been cooked, pl ace the toast in the slot s and depress the lever downwards until it locks, then press the Reheat Button. The reheat indicator will illuminate to confirm activation of reheat function. After about 30 s econds the reheated bread will pop up automatically. Note: The reheat time is independent of browning control setting.
8. Defrost Feature: to toast frozen bread, place bread in the slots and depres s lever downwards until it locks, then press Frozen Bread button. The red indicator will illuminate to confirm activation of function
9. Bagel Feature: This feature is for toasting bagels of c ourse but is also very useful for toasting crumpets and muffins.
10. Ensure lever is in up posit i on before disconnecting.

CLEANING

BEFORE CLEANING ALWAYS UNPLUG THE TOASTER AND ALLOW TO COOL FULLY.
Remove the crumb tray and brus h crumbs away. If necessa ry wipe with a clean damp cloth.
Dry thoroughly before reinserting the t ray.
DO NOT use abrasive cleaners as they may damage the surface.
DO NOT immerse the appliance in the water.
