1. The computer indicates “Keyboard error” during start-up or booting

Possible Causes and Solutions:

1.1 The keyboard is not plugged properly.
Check if the keyboard cable is securely plugged into the keyboard PS/2 port (USB or RS232 if applicable). If you have another device connected on the PS/2 port, shut down your computer, replace it for the preh keyboard and retest.
1.2 The Keyboard interface is incorrect.
The keyboard can have the wrong interface as a setting, please reset the keyboard by following the instructions at “How to reset preh keyboards” page 7.
1.3 Timing problems between the computer an d the keyboard.
When the computer boots up, it checks up the keyboard and tries to initialize it. If the keyboard is not detected, then an error is generated. There might be more than one solution for this problem.
Solution 1: Please see “How to turn off the unnecessary modules” on page 18 and follow the instructions. Restart the computer and test.
Solution 2: Please see “How to deactivate the Bios keyboard initialization” on page 17 and follow the instructions. Restart the computer and test.
Solution 3: There might be an incompatibility between your computer and the keyboard, or you might have an old firmware version that is not compatible with your computer. Please contact Preh technical support for information. If you have a scanner or any other device connected to the keyboa rd, please read point
3.
2. The keyboard beeps when any key is pressed and sends no data to the computer.

Possible Causes and Solutions:

2.1 A fault has occurred during the transmission of the keyboard
assignment table.
Please see “How to reset the preh keyboards” on page 7 and test.
2.2 The contents of the EEPROM have been modified.
Please see “How to reset the preh keyboards” on page 7 and test.

Page 4
2.3 There was an error in the checksum.
Please see “How to reset the preh keyboards” on page 7 and test.
3.
The keyboard is connected to a Scanner but it is not detected by
the computer during start-up
Possible Causes and Solutions:
3.1 Data transmission conflict between keyboard and Scanner.
There might be more than one solution for this problem. Solution1: The keyboard output speed and the scanner output speed is causing
conflicts when transmitting the data. Please change the output speed of the keyboard by following “How to change the output speed of the keyboard” on page
9. After, please re-test. Solution 2: The keyboard-scanner configuration might be causing a problem.
There is no standard on the output speed for scanners, so if you connect the keyboard and the scanner through a “Y” cable to the computer, the keyboard output will appear to be slowed down or the computer might not detect it. Please connect the keyboard directly to the computer. Then connect the scanner through the daisy chain port of the keyboard. The da isy chain port might be located on the side or the back of the keyboard.
