4 GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS
Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow all warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains operated (corded) power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool.
4.1 Work area
Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause
you to lose control.
4.2 Electrical safety
Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use
any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges
and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power
tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device
(RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
4.3 Personal safety
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power
tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used whenever conditions require will reduce personal injuries.
Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before plugging in.
Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key
left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better
control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
Copyright © 2014 VARO P a g e | 3 www.varo.com
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and
POW67935 EN
gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities,
ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices can reduce dust related hazards.
4.4 Power tool use and care
Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct
power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that
cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing
accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with
the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or sticking of moving parts, breakage of
parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have
the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to stick and are easier to control.
Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these instructions
and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from intended could lead to a hazardous situation.
4.5 Service
Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical
replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
5 SPECIFIC SAFETY WARNINGS
This water pump has no water-sprinkling protection feature and should be placed only in a
dry environment. Never place the water pump or operate it in the rain or in a humid space.
This water pump should not be used with flammable or harmful liquids. Idle operation of the water pump must be avoided. This water pump is for work in clean water. The scope of its application includes irrigation
in the garden, water supply to a household, sprinkling in a garden or on farmland.
This water pump may not be exposed for long periods to impurities, sand, stone, sticky
substances, etc., mixed in with the conveyed media. Because the conveyed media may contain chemical corrosive substances, it is necessary to pay special attention to preventing influence by these on the material of the pump body. It is not permitted to use this water pump to convey drinking water.
Danger! If this water pump is used in a swimming pool, garden pond or similar pools, it is necessary to install an additional switch for protection from electrical shock (earth leakage circuit-breaker or Fi-switch, German Standard VDE 0100-702) and keep it in a working state to ensure the safety and reliability of the water pump. In addition, the pump should be placed on a stable base to prevent it from falling down.

6 ASSEMBLY
During the installation of the water pump, the power supply to the water pump must be
switched off.
During installation of the equipment, it is necessary to keep it under dry and well-ventilated
conditions, at an ambient temperature below 40°C.
If the required pumping water is excessive due to your own action, resulting in flooding of
the irrigation site, a number of protective measures may be taken (e.g. installation of a device for discharging the excess water, an alarm, standby pump, water container, etc.). However, our company is not responsible for any losses thus caused.
Before use, the water pump should be inspected for safety to ensure that there is no
damage to the power cable or the plug.
6.1 Electrical connection
The electrician responsible for installation must check to ensure that the electrical
connection is in accordance with the standard, including the earth terminal.
It is necessary to check the rated current of the electric contact with protective switch - this
must be = 30mA (in accordance with DIN VDE 0100T739).
6.2 Earth
The water pump must be well earthed. Short-circuiting will render the relevant articles of the guarantee invalid. If it is necessary to increase the length of the original cable, a cable with the same section as the original cable must be used.
7 OPERATION
The pumps are not self-priming pumps. This means that the suction hose should first of all be fitted with: 1 Non-return valve with filter; this ensures that, after disconnecting the pump, the hose
and the pump do not run dry. This part of the hose is suspended in the water to be
pumped away. 2 Hose with coupling nut; this end of the hose is attached to the front of the pump. 3 Both accessories should be securely screwed on to the hose using the hose clip
supplied. Before fastening the hose to the pump, it is best to fill it with water first. After this you can screw the three-way cock or another 1" connector to the outlet on the pump; this is on the top of the pump. Then you should loosen the small screw cap on top of the pump housing and fill the pump housing with water through the opening; then re-seal it. If the pump housing and the hose have both now been filled with water, you can switch on the pump using the on/off switch. The pump now immediately begins to pump water (in the case of the auto version, the pressure tank is first filled and it takes a few seconds before water comes out of the connected hose). If the pump is subsequently switched off again, water remains in the pump housing and the hose which means that when the pump is next switched on it will pump water immediately. If no non-return valve is fitted or if the seal between the valve and the hose is not working properly (hose clip!) the whole unit may run dry again and must be re-filled to get the pump to work properly.

POW67935 EN
7.1 Pressure hose
The pressure hose is used for conveying the water from the pump to the water consumption point (e.g. tap, etc.). In order to minimize the friction loss caused by the water pressure, we recommend that you use a pressure hose with a minimum diameter of 3/4". When the garden pump is working, the water outlet (e.g. tap or water sprinkling outlet)
must be open so as to discharge the air from the hose. If the water outlet is closed, the pump may be damaged due to overheating of the pump after working for more than 5 minutes.
Freezing of the pump or placing it in a frosty space in the winter must be avoided. Sand and stones in the water taken in can rapidly wear the pump and reduce its effective
capacity. It is therefore necessary to install a filter.
This water pump is not suitable for long-term operation, e.g. in industrial or mining
enterprises or for a water recycling system.
7.2 Safety requirements
The power supply must comply with the specifications displayed on the product. Refer to
the instructions of your local energy supplier if necessary for connecting conditions. If the pump or the power cable do not comply, do not connect the pump!
Never carry the pump by the cable and never pull the pump by the cable out of the pond.
Never remove the plug and never shorten the cable. If you do, you will invalidate your guarantee. Keep the connection (plug and socket) dry.
The pump is not suitable for use in swimming pools and lakes or other situations where
persons could come into physical contact with the water, and must therefore not be used for this purpose.
Always disconnect the pump from the power supply when cleaning it or carrying out
maintenance to the pond. This pump is suitable for pumping water with a minimum temperature of 4 °C and a maximum temperature of 35 °C. The pump must not run dry, as this will cause irreparable damage.
Clean the chambers from time to time, rinsing them with clean water, to ensure they are
not clogged with dirt.
8 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Attention !Before performing any work on the equipment, pull the power plug.
8.1 Cleaning
Under normal conditions, the water pump is free of maintenance. However, the pump should not be placed in the open air during rain, in a humid place, or dirty or frozen environment.
Freezing, idling or blocking by impurities should be avoided. Always disconnect the power supply before maintenance of the pump. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by professional personnel. Damage
caused by short circuiting is not included in scope of the guarantee.
If trouble with the pump is experienced, guaranteed repairs must be carried out by an
authorized maintenance center.
Never use solvents such as petrol, alcohol, ammonia water, etc. These solvents may damage the plastic parts.
