Electrical Connections
Electrical connections must
be made by a qualified electrician in
compliance with all relevant codes. This
machine must be properly ground ed to help
prevent electrical shock and possible fatal
injury.
The PM1300TX is equipped with a si ngle phase,
115/230 volt motor. It is factory wired for 115
volts. Keep in mind that a circuit being used by
other machines (tools, lights, heaters, etc.) at
the same time will add to the electrical load.
Thus, it is recommended that the machine be
connected to a dedicat ed circuit, with a 30 amp
circuit br eak er or fuse for 115 volt oper ation; and
a 20 amp circuit breaker or fuse for 230 volt
operation. Local codes will take precedence over recommend ation s.
The dust collector can be re-wired for 230V
operation as follows:
To convert to 230 volt operat io n:
1. Disconnect fr om power source; unplug!
2. Connect the motor leads as shown in the
diagram i nside the motor junction box; this
diagram is also shown on page 21 of this
manual.
3. Open t he control box cover by removing the
six screws, and m ove the volt age switch to
230V.
Check with a qualified electrician or service
personnel if the grounding instructions are not
completely understood, or if in doubt as to
whether the tool is properly grounded.
Repair or replace a damaged or worn cord
immediately.
Extens ion Cords
If an extension cord is needed, make sure the
cord rati ng is suitabl e for t he amper age listed on
the machine’s motor plate. An undersize cord
will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss
of power and overheating.
Use the chart in Fi gure 11 as a general gui de in
choosing the correct size cord. If in doubt, use
the next heav ier gauge. The smaller the gauge
number, the heavier the cord.

Grounding Instructions
This machi ne must be grounded. In the ev ent of
a malfuncti on or breakdown, grounding prov ides
a path of least resistance for electric current to
reduce the ri sk of el ectri c shock .
Improper connection of the equipmentgrounding conductor can result in a risk of
electric shock. The conductor with insulation
having an outer surface that is green with or
without yellow stripes, is the equipmentgrounding conduct or. If repai r or replac ement of
the electric cord or plug is necessary, do not
connect the equipment -groundi ng conductor to a
live terminal.
The hose or ductwork you use to connect the
tool to the dust collec tor must also be grounded.
Make sure the voltage of your power supply
matches the specificati ons on the motor plate of
the dust collector.

until the OFF button is pressed. The digital
readout will always display 00 while runni ng.
The remote control operates on two AAA
batteries. The se will need replaci ng peri odically.
NOTE: The infrared sen sor on the dust coll ector
has a 120° line-of-sight angle. See Figure 13.
Outside of this angle, the remote control m ay not
be effective.
Connecting the Dust Collector to a
Machine
Use the proper type hose to connect the dust
collector to the machine being operated. Dryer vent hose is not acceptable for this purpose.
Contact your nearest Powermatic distributor for
a full line of Dust Collector hoses and
accessories. You can c ustomize your instal l ation
and obtain maximum performance with dust
hoods, hoses, cl am ps, fit tings, and blast gates.
Maintenance
Never perform maintenance
on this machine before turning it OFF and
removing plug from power source. Failure to
comply may cause seriou s injury!
Cleaning the Filter Bag
Wearing a particle mask or
respirator for protection against fine dust
particles during cleaning is highly
recommended.
Figure 13
Setting the Timer
While the machine is running, press the TIME
button to activate the timer. Each time the button
is pressed and released, the run time is
increment ed on the digit al displ ay by one minut e
and can be set up to 99 minutes.

If the OFF button is pressed while machine is
running with the timer engaged, the machine
turns off and the tim er is disengaged; i.e., when
the machine is restarted, the timer must be
reset.
During first use and aft er cleaning, the fil ter bag
may allow some dust to escape. This is normal
and will stop after a short period of time.
Clean both the filter and collector bags
frequently to keep the collector's perf ormance at
its optimum. To clean:
1. Disconnect machine from the power source.
2. Unhook the filter bag from the hanger.
Shake the bag so that the majority of the
dust fall s into the collector bag.
3. Loosen t he retaining strap, and remove the
filter bag fr om the housi ng.
4. Turn the bag inside-out and clean.
5. Turn the bag out side-in and re-at tach to the
housing using the r etainer strap to secure.
Removing the Collector Bag
1. Disconnect machine from the power source.
2. Remove the collector bag by pushing the
ring of the c oll ector bag upwards and pulling
the bag out at an angle.
3. Empty the contents into an appropriate
container.

Cleaning the Canister Filter
Motor
Clean the canister filter frequently to keep the
collector 's performance at its optimum. To clean
the filter, t urn the handle a coupl e of rotations so
the dust fall s into the clear plasti c bag. Properly
discard the pl astic c ollector bag when full.
Make fr equent inspections of the m otor fan and
blow out (with l ow pressure air hose) or v acuum
any accumulati on of foreign materi al in order to
maintain normal motor ventilation.
Grounding Instructions
1. For all grounded, cord-connected tools:
This tool must be grounded. In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least
resista n c e fo r el ec tr i c c ur r ent to r ed u ce t he r i sk o f el ec tr i c s hoc k . T hi s t ool is eq u i pp ed w it h a n el ec tr i c co r d ha vi n g an
equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into a matching outlet that is
properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and or dinances.
WARNING: Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock.
The conductor with insulation having an outer surface that is green with or without yellow stripes is the equipmentgrounding conductor. If repair or replacement of the electric cord or plug is necessary, do not connect the equipmentgrounding conductor to a live terminal. Do not modify the plug provided - if it will not fit the outlet, have the proper
outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
Check with a qualified electrician or service personnel if the grounding instructions are not completely
understood, or if in doubt as to whether the tool is properly grounded.
2. For grounded, cord-connected tools rated less than 15 amperes and intended for use on a nominal
120V supply circuit:
This tool is intended for use on a nominal 120V circuit, and has a grounded plug that looks like the plug
illustrated Sketch A in Figure 14. The tool has a grounding prong that looks like the plug illustrated in Sketch A in
Figure 14. A temporary adapter that looks like the adapter illustrated in Sketch B, may be used to connect this plug to
a 2 pole receptacle as shown in Sketch C if a properly grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should
be used only until a properly grounded outlet (sketch A) can be installed by a qualified electrician. The green-colored
rigid ear, lug, and the like, extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly
grounded outlet box cover. Note: In Canada, the use of a temporary adapter is not permitted by the Canadian
Electrical Code.

3. For all other grounded, cord-connected tools:
This tool is rated more than 15 amperes and is intended for use on a circuit having a nominal rating more
than 120 volts, and is factory-equipped with a specific electric cord and plug to permit connection a proper electric
circuit. Make sure that the tool is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adapter should
be used with this tool. If the tool must be reconnected for use on a different type of electric circuit, the reconnection
should be made by qualified service personnel.
