remo veloose clothing and jewelryorclot hing with loosely hanging ties, straps, tassels, etc. They can be caught in moving parts. Being fully covered also helps protect you

from debris and pieces of toxic plants thrown by spinning line/blade. Stayalert.Do notoperate unitwhenyou are

tired,ill, upsetorunder influence ofalcohol, drugs, or medication. Watchwhat you are doing; use common sense. Wear hearing protection.

Never start or run the engine inside a closed

room or building. Breat hing exhaust fumes can kill. Keep handles free of oil and fuel.

Always use the handlebar and a properly

adjusted shoulder strap when using brush­cutter attachment (see ASSEMBLY).

procedures. Keep the blade sharp. Never use flailingdevices, wire, rope, string, etc.
Disconnect powerhead
Use only specified blade; make sure it is

properly installed and securely fastened. Never start engine with clutch shroud re-

moved. Theclutch canfly offand cause se­rious injury. Be sure blade stops turning when engine

idles. Makecarburetoradjustmentswiththelower

end supported to prevent the blade from contactingany object.Hold theunit byhand; do not use the shoulder strap for support. Keepothersaway when making carburetor

cessories and replacement parts. Have all maintenance and service not ex-

plained in this manual performed by an au­thorized service dealer.
FUEL SAFETY
Mix andpour fuel outdoors.

Keep away from sparks or flames.
S
Use a container approved for fuel.
S
Do notsmoke orallow smoking near fuel or

the unit or while using the unit. Avoid spilling fuel or oil. Wipe up all fuel
S
spills before starting engine. Move atleast 10feet(3 meters)away from fu-

elingsitebefore star t ing engine. Stop engine and allow it to cool before re-

moving fuel cap. Removefuel cap slowly.

CUTTINGSAFETY
WARNING:

Do not raise powerhead engine above your

waist. Keepall parts of your body away from spin-

ning line/blade and muffler. Cut from your left to your right. Cuttingon

the right side of the shield will throw debris away from the operator. Use only in daylight or good artificial light.

TRANSPORTINGAND STORAGE
Stopthe powerheadenginebeforecarrying

unit. Keep muffler away from your body.

Allow engine to cool and secure unit before

storing or transporting it in a vehicle. Empty the fuel tank beforestoring or trans-

portingthe unit.Use upfuel left in thecarbu­retor by starting the engine andletting it run until it stops. Storeunitand fuel in an area where fuelva-

pors cannot reach sparks or open flames

INSTALLING BRUSHCUTTER ATTACHMENT CAUTION:

2. Removetheshaft cap from thebrushcut­ter attachment (if present).
3. Position locking/release button ofattach­ment into guide recess of coupler.
4. Pushthe attachmentintothe coupleruntil thelocking/release button snaps into the primary hole.
5. Beforeusing theunit,tightenthe knobse­curely by turning clockwise.

HANDLEBARASSEMBLY
DANGER:
serious injury,thebarrier portion ofthehandlebar must be installed as shown on the upper shaft of the powerhead to provide a barrier between op­erator and the spinning blade. Attach shaft clamp above arrow on safety warning decal on theuppershaft (powerhead endofunit). Ensure handlebar is positioned on handlebar clamp be­tween the arrows on the handlebar decal.
NOTE:
spacer tabs attached. These tabs are pro­vided to adapt this attachment for use with powerheads that have a 1"diameter upper shaft(theshaftclampwill nottightendownse­curely on the 1"diameter upper shaft without using these spacer tabs). The tabs must be broken off completely before use and placed over the screw holes on the clamp base. These tabs are not needed for powerheads with a 7/8"upper shaft.
