REF
8332 Single Patient Use Toilet Sensor Pad (30-Day)
Before You Begin
The Posey Sensor Pad, in conjunction with a Posey Alarm, is an important part of
your fall management protocols. Ensure all parts of this system are operational
before leaving a patient unattended. This system does not prevent falls or injury from
falls and is not a substitute for patient care, caregiver rounding and a comprehensive
fall management protocol in your facility.
• This device may not be suitable for all high fall-risk patients. See Posey catalog for
other options for such patients.
• NEVER use a restraint on a patient during toileting with this product.
• To prevent damage, NEVER roll, fold, or crease sensor pad.
• NEVER connect Posey sensor pads to other manufacturers’ alarm units.
• NEVER connect Posey alarms to other manufacturers’ sensor pads.
NOTE: Before using this sensor pad, a Posey Fall Alarm must be securely mounted
near toilet, out of the patient’s reach.
Application Instructions:
1. Read all sensor pad and alarm instructions prior to use.
2. Check sensor pad, cord and plug for damage. Discard entire sensor pad if there is
any damage.
3. Remove backing from adhesive patch.
4. Center sensor pad under the toilet seat “bumper” or “standoff”, on top of the
toilet rim. Make sure sensor pad cord is to the outside (see drawing).

• Apply pressure to the toilet seat and then release. Alarm should activate when you
remove pressure.
• If sensor pad fails any test, stop use at once and replace with a new sensor pad.
• Sensor pads past warranty expiration date may fail, causing false alarm or no alarm.
2. Staff should ALWAYS be nearby and ready to
respond if alarm activates.
3. NEVER jerk or pull on sensor pad cord to remove
plug. Doing so will damage the cord or plug and may
cause sensor pad to fail. ALWAYS use plastic tab to release plug.
4. If you remove alarm unit after toileting, make sure sensor pad cord is out of the
footpath and does not pose a tripping hazard.
5. NEVER roll, fold or crease sensor pad. This will damage sensor pad and may
cause false alarm or no alarm.
Cleaning:
• Make sure sensor pad has no visible cuts or signs of damage.
• Dampen a clean cloth with disinfectant. Take extra care when cleaning sensor
pad plugs.
• NEVER: use any cleaner that contains Phenol; immerse in liquid; or sterilize with heat.
• Dry with a clean cloth.
5.
Press down fi rmly to attach sensor pad to toilet rim.
6. Route sensor pad cord to Posey alarm and insert plug. Check that sensor pad cord
is not stressed and does not pose a tripping hazard.
7. Use cord clips with adhesive backing to secure cord off fl oor. Attach one clip to
side of toilet. Attach second clip to wall, near sensor pad.
8. Insert plug into sensor input on side of alarm.
NOT for use on toilet seats with risers or safety side arms.
To reduce the risk of serious injury or death:
1. ALWAYS test sensor pad before leaving patient unattended.
