INTRODUCTION
The SoundStation Premier®systems enhances audio conferencing by expanding speaker and microphone coverage in conference rooms, and other conference areas.
This chapter covers installation and use of your SoundStation Premier Satellite system . Please set up the SoundStation Premier base unit first, following the instructions in Chapter 1,
SoundStation Premier. Please note SoundStation Premier console replaces the Wall Module as a power supply.
CHECKLIST OF PARTS
Your Polycom®SoundStation Premier Satellite system includes the following items:

BASIC SET-UP
The SoundStation Premier Satellite provides the following jacks at the rear of the unit:
One (1) RJ-11 jack for an external phone. One (1) RJ-11 jack for an incoming telephone line. (10-foot RJ11 cable provided.)One (1) RCA jack for connecting any popular tape recorder to record the conversation.Two (2) external microphone jacks for optional SoundStation Premier external microphones.One (1) RJ-45 jack to the SoundStation Premier console. (25-foot cable provided.)One (1) power cord.

1. Position the SoundStation Premier Satellite in the desired location. Avoid objects directly in
front of the unit. For optimum performance the SoundStation Premier Satellite should be placed 10' or farther from the SoundStation Premier console.
2. Plug the power cord into the nearest electrical outlet.
3. Ensure that the green LED on the SoundStation Premier Satellite is lit.
4. Connect the 25-foot connector cable to the jack labeled with the Console icon in the rear of the SoundStation Premier Satellite unit. Connect the other end to the jack in the SoundStation
Premier unit. You should hear two distinct “bongs” after approximately 5 seconds.
5. Connect the standard telephone line (provided) to the nearest telephone wall jack. Be sure to plug the telephone line into the jack labeled
TEL LINE on the back of the ShowStation Premier
Satellite unit.

6. For privacy during a conference call, connect an external telephone (not provided) to the SoundStation Premier Satellite. Use the RJ11 jack in the rear of the SoundStation Premier Satellite module. (Not available in some countries)
When the telephone receiver is lifted, all microphones and speakers are disabled. When the external telephone hangs up, the microphones and speakers are enabled.
7. To record a conversation, connect a standard tape recorder (not provided) to the RCA jack at the rear of the SoundStation Premier Satellite.

INTRODUCTION
The SoundStation Premier®systems enhances audio conferencing by expanding speaker and microphone coverage in conference rooms, and other conference areas.
This chapter covers installation and use of your SoundStation Premier Satellite System with wireless lavaliere microphone.
Please set up the SoundStation Premier base module first, following the instructions in Chapter 1, SoundStation Premier. Please note SoundStation Premier console replaces the Wall Module as a power supply.
The wireless microphone allows the speaker to hav e total freedom when addressing a group.The wireless component of this unit is equipped with a patented security technology,
developed by Polycom, to ensure voice protection. To prevent interference, there are five (5) available channels (in the 900 MHz band).

Transmitter Set-up:
1. Place the rechargeable battery pack (provided) into the transmitters battery compartment located on the front of the unit.
2. Observe the correct polarity which is clearly marked in the battery compartment.
3. Set the transmitter into the recharging bay on the SoundStation Premier Satellite. It is
recommended that the batteries be charged for 8 hours before use. Standard AAA batteries can be used but are not rechargeable, and pose no problems if the transmitter is docked in the recharging bay.
4. Explanation of Console LEDs (indicator lights)as viewed while facing the unit.
LEFT LED-transmitter indicator
A green LED indicates an established wireless communications link. A flashing red LED
indicates the wireless microphone is muted.
No LED lite indicates no wireless communication established.
This can be an indicator of
a) Dead or no batteries in the transmitter or b) the transmitter is out of range.
RIGHT LED-indicates transmitter charging
A green LED indicates the transmitter is charging.No LED lite indicates the transmitter is either not docked in the console, or non-rechargeable
standard AAA batteries are in use.
The LED at the center of the console indicates power is being supplied to the unit.The LED on the transmitter indicates low batteries when flashing.

TO ENSURE BEST PERFORMANCE
Place the SoundStation Premier Satellite unit in a position unobstructed by other objects so
that users can hear clearly.
The acoustic environment should follow the same criteria covered in Chapter 1,
SoundStation Premier.
Check the battery condition indicator before using.Position the lavaliere microphone six inches from your mouth.
USING THE SOUNDSTATION SATELLITE WIRELESS LAVALIERE MICROPHONE
The Satellite Wireless Lavaliere Microphone is a state-of-the-art product which allows the speaker to have complete freedom of motion during the presentation.
TO ENSURE BEST PERFORMANCE
Be sure the rechargeable battery pack included in the SoundStation Premier Satellite unit is
fully charged. In case of an emergency, three (3) non-rechargeable AAA alkaline batteries may be used.
Place the wireless microphone in the recharging bay when not in use. Note that the LED
to the right of the recharging bay is red during charging and green when charge is complete.

USING THE WIRELESS TRANSMITTER
The wireless transmitter is a rugged compact body pack with attached lavaliere microphone, and includes these special features:
Audio ON/OFF. ▼ Rechargeable NiCad battery pack.Battery compartment for quick pop-in battery replacement. Uses rechargeable battery pack
(included).
Low battery LED indicator.Convenient 3-foot microphone cord provided.
1. To use-remove the transmitter from the console’s recharging bay.
2. Note the left LED on the console is lit green indicating the unit is ready to use.
3. If the LED on the transmitter is flashing red the unit needs to be recharged, or standard AAA batteries can be used.

OPTIONAL EXTERNAL MICROPHONES
Connect the two (2) optional SoundStation Premier external microphones to the jacks provided at the rear of the SoundStation Premier Satellite module, using the 10-foot microphone cables provided.
TO ENSURE BEST PERFORMANCE

SoundStation Premier user guide.
Place the SoundStation Premier Satellite unit in a position unobstructed by other objects
so that users can hear clearly.
USING THE SOUNDSTATION PREMIER SATELLITE
To place a call:
Press ON/OFF to turn the SoundStation Premier on (Premier console LED’s are green). Listen for the dial tone, then dial the number.
The SoundStation Premier Satellite functions as an extension of the main conference system, allowing people in the outer areas of the room to hear and take part in the conference.

To mute all microphones:
Press the MUTE button on either the remote, one of the SoundStation Premier external microphones or the SoundStation Premier Console.
To resume two-way communications, press the mute button again.
ADJUSTING THE BALANCE
It is possible to adjust the relative volume between SoundStation Premier and SoundStation Premier Satellite when the console unit is OFF HOOK, using the following procedure.
▼ Press the SHIFT key. ▼ To increase the relative volume of the SoundStation Premier console, press the VOL - KEY . ▼ To increase the relative volume of the SoundStation Premier Satellite, press the VOL + KEY.
The cursor position displayed on the LCD shows the balance graphically. When the cursor is all the way to the left side of the display labeled PRE the satellite speaker is off. When the cursor is all the way to the right side of the display labeled SAT, the console speaker is off. When both speak ers are equal volume, the cursor will be centered and will appear as an X.

Polycom Limited Warranty and Limitation of Liability
Polycom warrants you, the customer, that your system will be in good working order on the date Polycom or its authorized reseller delivers or installs the system, whichever is later (“Warranty Date”). If you notify Polycom or its Authorized Dealer within one year of the Warranty Date that your system is not in good working order, Polycom will, without charge to you, repair or replace, at its option, the system components that are not in good working order. Repair or replacement parts may be new or refurbished and will be provided on an exchange basis. If Polycom determines that your system cannot be repaired or replaced, Polycom will remove the system and, at your option, refund the purchase price of your system or apply the purchase price towards the purchase of another Polycom system. If you purchased your system directly from Polycom, Polycom will perform warranty repair in accordance with the terms and conditions of the specific type of Polycom maintenance coverage you selected. A written explanation of Polycom’s types of maintenance coverage may be obtained from Polycom by calling 1.800.451.0995 (in the continental U.S. only). If you purchased your system from an Polycom Authorized Dealer, contact your reseller for the details of the maintenance plan applicable to your system.
This Polycom limited warranty covers damage to the system caused by power surges. Warning: This equipment will be inoperable when power fails. Unless otherwise expressly agreed to in a written agreement signed by Polycom, Polycom will not
be responsible under this limited warranty for damages resulting from:
Failure to follow Polycom’s installation, operation, or maintenance instructions.Unauthorized system modification, movement, or alteration.Unauthorized use of common carrier communication services accessed through the system.Abuse, misuse, negligent acts or omissions of the customer and persons under the
customer’s control; or
Acts of third parties and acts of God.
Polycom’s obligation to repair, replace, or refund, as set forth above, is your exclusive remedy. Except as specifically set forth above, Polycom, its affiliates, suppliers, and dealers make no
warranties, express or implied, and specifically disclaim any warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of Liability
Except as provided below, the liability of Polycom and its affiliates and suppliers for any claims, losses, damages, or expenses from any cause whatsoever (including acts or omissions of third parties), regardless of the form of action, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, shall not exceed the lessor of: (1) the direct damages proven; or (2) the repair cost, replacement cost, license fee, annual rental charge, or purchase price, as the case may be, of the equipment that gives rise to the claim. Except as provided below, Polycom and its affiliates and suppliers shall not be liable for any incidental, special, reliance, consequential, or indirect loss or damage incurred in connection with the equipment. As used in this paragraph, consequential damages include, but are not limited to, the following: lost profits, lost revenues, and losses arising out of unauthorized use (or charges for such use) of common carrier telecommunications services or facilities accessed through or connected to the equipment. For personal injury caused by Polycom’s negligence, Polycom’s liability shall be limited to proven damages to person. No action or proceeding against Polycom or its affiliates or suppliers may be commenced more than twenty-four (24) months after the cause of action accrues. THIS PARAGRAPH SHALL SURVIVE FAILURE OF AN EXCLUSIVE REMEDY.
