GROUNDING INSTRUCTION
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

Read all instructions carefully before using the appliance.
• Do not leave equipment when plugged in. Using from outlet when not in use and before
servicing.

• Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
• Do not pull or carry by cord, do not use cord as handle, do not close a door on cord, or pull
cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run equipment over cord. Keep cord a-way from heated surfaces.
•The wiring system to which the appliance is connected must always comply with applicable
laws and regulations.
• Always connect to properly grounded outlet (see “Grounding Instructions”).
• Connecting the appliance to improper voltage may cause injury of fire or result in damage to
the appliance. Before connecting the appliance, make sure that the voltage is the same as the voltage indicated on the data label of the appliance. No adapter should be used with this appliance.
• Always make sure that appliance is unplugged before performing maintenance work of any
kind, including adding water or cleaning the appliance.
• Do not unplug by pulling the cord. Grasp the plug to avoid damaging the socket and risking
a short-circuit.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT USING STEAM
Steam may cause serious injury if in contact with body parts. Always allow the steamer to cool down before handling
• Do not direct the steam jet at electrical equipment or the appliance itself.
• Never place your hands or any body parts in the steam jet.
• Keep your face and any body parts away if you fill the boiler when it is still hot, as a few
drops of water can evaporate on contact with the hot boiler, causing a jet of steam .
• Do not use to treat clothes being worn on the body.
• Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
• Do not wind the power cable around the appliance, especially when the appliance is still hot .
• Care should be used to arrange the cord so as not to trip over it .
• Steam through the hose will cause it to get hot. Avoid contact with hot areas.
• If the appliance has been dropped, damaged, or immersed in water, or leaks, do not use and
contact the customer care as the internal safety features may have been affected.
• In case of breakdown or malfunction switch off the appliance and never attempt to
disassemble it, but contact the customer care.
• This appliance is equipped with safety devices which are to be replaced only by a qualified
technician.
• Let the appliance cool down before cleaning it or carrying out any maintenance.
• Before storing the appliance make sure that it has completely cooled down.
• If the appliance is left unused, disconnect it from electrical outlet. Never leave the appliance
unattended with the cable plugged-in. Steam may be released even if the appliance is disconnected from the mains. Before putting the appliance away, please first press the lever until the steam flow ceases. The steam lock on the handle guarantees greater safety, as it prevents the accidental activation of steam delivery by children or people who are unaware of the function of the appliance. When steam is not being used, engage the steam lock. To continue steam delivery, return the switch to its original position.
• To carry out any maintenance or cleaning requiring access to the boiler, ensure that the
appliance is switched off at the power switch and disconnected from the mains for at least two hours.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS USING THE APPLIANCE:
• Never use distilled water or scented water.
• Do not put any detergent or chemical substance in the boiler tank.
• For best results, use original Polti accessories only, as products of other brands may not be
suitable for use in Polti appliances and could cause damage.
• Press the buttons only with a finger, without excessive force and avoid using pointed objects
such as a pen or a screwdriver.
• To avoid compromising the safety of the appliance use only original spare parts.
• Do not overfill the boiler tank.
• Do not place the hot appliance on heat-sensitive surfaces.

Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your Polti Vaporetto may contain some residual water in the boiler. Correct use of the product is only as detailed in this instruction manual. Any other use may damage the appliance and invalidate the warranty.

WHICH WATER TO USE IN THE BOILER
Polti Vaporetto Smart 100 to function with normal medium tap water between 8°f and 20°f. If the tap water con­tains a lot of limescale use a mix composed of 50% tap water and 50% demineralised water which is widely available to purchase. Do not use pure demineralised water. Check the hardness of the water at the technical office at your local council or the local water supplier. If you only use tap water, you can reduce the formation of limescale by using the special Polti Kalstop (PANA0001) product, distributed by Polti, and available for sale at all major domestic-appliance stores or online at Never use distilled water, rain water or water containing additives (e.g. starch, perfumes), or water produced by other domestic appliances, by water softeners or filter jugs. Do not add chemical, natural, detergent, or limescale removing substances, etc.

1. PREPARATION FOR USE
Steam may cause serious injury if in contact with body parts. Always allow the steamer to cool down before
handling.
To reduce the risk of personal injury unplug the power cord from the
electrical outlet and let the appliance and the accessories cool down completely before handling.
Always make sure that the appliance is unplugged before performing
maintenance work of any kind, including adding water or cleaning the appliance.
1.1 Remove the appliance from the packaging, checking that the product is whole and that all the parts are included.
1.2 Turn the tank cap.
Fill the tank completely with water, making sure that it does not overflow.
The tank is removable and can also be detached to fill it easily under a tap.

1.3 Close the tank cap.
1.4 Insert the steam lock of the flexible hose. The steam gun has a safety button that prevents accidental start of steam delivery by children or people unfamiliar with how the
appliance works. To prevent accidental steam delivery push the button to the OFF position. To restart steam delivery, push the button to the ON position.
1.5 Connect the cable plug

The “steam ready” C indicator light comes on and goes off during use. This means that the electrical resistance is working to maintain constant pressure: it is a normal phenomenon and you can continue with your cleaning operations.
2. CONNECTION OF ACCESSORIES
2.1 To attach the extension hose to the flexible hose and the floor brush, simply insert until you hear the button click indicating that the accessory is locked in place. To release the

3. STEAM ADJUSTMENT

4. CLEANING FLOORS

When first operating steam, there may be some drops of water mixed with the steam due to temperature imbalances. Direct the first steam jet onto a cloth for a few seconds.
Before using the appliance on delicate surfaces, ensure that the part in contact with the surface is free from foreign bodies that could cause scratches.
Before starting to steam clean, it is good practice to have previously swept or vacuumed the floor.
4.1 Make sure that Section 1 has been

4.2 Connect the extension tubes to the steam hose and the floor brush to the extension
tubes.

5. CLEANING CARPETS AND RUGS

5.5 Pass the floor brush over the surface.
Before removing the cloth from the brush, wait a few minutes to allow the cloth to cool. After which, remove the frame by resting the foot on the relative symbol and then remove the cloth by holding it firm with the foot resting on the tab and pulling the brush up.

6. CLEANING GLASS, WINDOWS
AND TILES
To clean glass surfaces during cold weather, preheat the windows starting to steam from a distance of about 1.6 ft (50 cm) from the surface.

6.4 To clean windows and mirrors, steam the surface thoroughly to dissolve the dirt. Connect the small brush with window cleaner to the flexible hose and go back over the surface to remove the dirt, without dispensing steam. The extension hoses can be connected to the flexible hose to reach high surfaces.
6.5 To clean tiles, attach the cap to the small brush and pass over the surface, dispensing steam, in order to eliminate the dirt. The extension hoses can be connected to the handle to reach high surfaces.
6.6 We recommend keeping a microfiber cloth close at hand to complete the cleaning operations and dry the dirt dissolved by steam.
7. CLEANING UPHOLSTERY, ARMCHAIRS, CUSHIONS (mattresses, sofas, car interiors, etc.)
Before cleaning leather or fabrics with steam, consult the manufacturer’s instructions and always carry out a test on a hidden part or on a sample of the material. Allow the steamed part to dry to make sure that no changes in colour or deformations have occurred.
7.1 Make sure that Section 1 has been followed and connect the accessories as indicated in Section 2.
7.2 Connect the small brush with window cleaner to the steam hose.
7.3 Attach the cap to the small brush with window cleaner.
7.4 Adjust the intensity of the steam by turning the adjustment knob; for this type of surface we recommend steam.
7.5 Ensure that the steam lock on the handle is deactivated.
7.6 Hold the steam trigger down on the handle and pass over the surface.

10.3 TAKING CARE OF PLANTS AND HUMIDIFYING ROOMS To care for your house plants, remove the dust from the leaves using the steam. Steam the surface directly from the handle, at a minimum distance of 1.6 ft (50 cm), adjust the steam to the Plants breathe better and will be cleaner and brighter. The steam can also be used to refresh rooms, especially those frequented by smokers: steam the room by directing the jet towards the ceiling and distributing evenly.

This operation must always be done after ha­ving disconnected the appliance from the mains.
12. GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Before carrying out any maintenance on the device, always unplug it from the power mains making sure that the product has cooled down before proceeding. To clean the outside of the appliance, use only a damp cloth and tap water. All accessories can be cleaned using running water, ensuring they are completely dry before the next use. Do not use detergents of any type. After using the brushes, we recommend letting the bristles cool down in their natural position, in order to avoid any deformation.
13. CLEANING THE BOILER (special maintenance)
WARNING: Steam. Risk of scalding!
Risk of scalding! When accessing the boiler (removing the cap, filling up, emptying), ensure that the appliance is switched off at the power switch and disconnected from the mains for at least two hours.
To maintain optimum performance, clean the boiler every 10/20 uses depending on the amount of limestone in the water.
13.1 Unplug the appliance and let it cool down for 2 hours at least, if it is hot.
13.2 Empty the water tank to prevent leakage.
13.3 Place the appliance on its side and unscrew the boiler cap protection located on the side of the appliance.
To resume use, simply:
- switch off and disconnect the Polti Vaporetto.
- fill the tank as described in Section 1.

13.4 Unscrew the boiler cap.
13.5 Pour 8.5 fl oz (0.25 l) of cold water into the boiler.
15.3 It is possible to store the appliance by placing the brush (including the frame) and the hoses in the parking unit.

13.6 Rinse the boiler and pour the water into
the sink or into a special container. If the water is very dirty, repeat the operation until it is clean.
13.7 Insert 3.5 fl oz (0.1 l) of water in the boiler
and screw on the boiler cap and the boiler cap protection, ensuring that they are correctly screwed on.
13.8 Refill the water tank.
13.9 Turn the appliance back on.
Before using steam to clean, direct the jet into a sink or other container until the steam is completely clean.
Do not pour toxic substances, acids, solvents, detergents, corrosive substances and/or explosives or perfumes into the boiler.
14. KALSTOP (PANA0001) optional
Kalstop is the limescale product for appliances with boiler for ironing and steam cleaning. Regular use of Kalstop, every time the tank is filled with water:
- Extends the life of the appliance.
- Allows emission of a “drier” steam
- Prevents limescale build up.
- Protects the walls of the boiler.
- Contributes to saving energy.
15.4 The smaller accessories can be stored inside the accessories
compartment.
15. STORAGE
15.1 Turn off the appliance and disconnect
from the mains electricity.
15.2 Wait for the appliance to cool down
