LVT-H Operation Guide
Purpose
• Use with high voltage strobe packs and low voltage electronic triggering
devices
• Safely parallel different packs
• Prevent damage to many cameras
PocketWizard’s Lo w Vol tage Trig ger makes worki n g with high vol tage
strobes safe and reliable. Make your strobes compatible with more triggering
devices and with each oth er. Protect your camera, radio slaves, remote
triggers, and strobes.
Compatible Strobes
PocketWizard’s LVT is designed for Strobe Packs having sync voltages of
less than 300V. If your packs are higher in voltage, consult the factory for
further information.
Operation
The most common use for an LVT is to connect (in parallel) multiple packs to
the same sync cord. This requires one LVT for each pack.
• Connect the outpu t of each LVT to a strobe pack
• Connect all the inputs of the LVTs to the hardwire loop, making sure that
the polarity is kept the same for all LVTs.
Note:
The easiest way to maintain proper polarity is to use Zip cord
between all the LVT's. To do this, run the Zip cord to each of the LV T's.
Place an "Add-A-Tap" (household female connector) to each point that
you wish to connect an LVT. You can usually tell the polarity of the Zip
cord from a small stripe or ridge that runs the length of the zip cord. Plug
a household to household cord into the Add-A-Taps the same way at each
location. This should keep the polarity the same.
Batteries
There is a battery inside the LV T. It is no t field replaceable. The battery should
last for approximately 200,000 shots of normal duration. If it becomes necessary
to replace the battery, it may be returned to the factory for a new battery. The
battery used is a Panasonic BR-2325-2HC.
Care and Feeding...
Your LVT is a rugged piece of equipment. However, to insure continu ed
reliability, please follow these guidelines:
• Do not subject the unit to high mechanical shock (don't drop it!)
• Damage may occur to some components if the LVT is stored below -20°C (-4°F) or
above +85°C (185 °F).
• Keep your LVT dry.
• Do not connect any device to this unit unless that device is approved for use by
PocketWizard. Connection to unapproved devices may cause damage and will void
your warranty.
To clean the LVT, use a lightly dampened cloth to wipe the exterior su rfaces. Do not use
•
solvents or other cleanser s. Do not immerse the unit in any liquid.
Technical Information
The delay between sync-in and sync-out is .00002 Sec. This will allow you to sync
to a 1/250. If a radio slave is used, you will be limited by the speed of the radio
slave.
Controls:
Sync In Attach to camera using a PC to Household cord or a hardwire
sync line using a Household to Household. Alternatively, attach
to a F1ashWizard, PocketWizard, or other slave usin g the
appropriate cable.
Sync Out Attach appropriate cable from Sync Out to strobes
Troubleshooting
If a pack is not firing the first thing to do is confirm the polarity of the input.
Reverse each Household male con nector in the Input j ack
If the pack still does not fire, make sure the cable going from the Pack to the
LVT is OK.
If the pack fires without the LVT attached, your pack may be incompatible
with the LVT. Please call for assistance.
