Part Two: Installation
Installation Steps
1. Cabling Guidelines
♦ Maximum length of a multi-mode fiber cable (62.5/
125µm) is:
2 kilometers (6560 feet) for full-duplex, or
412 meters (1351 feet) for half-duplex 100Base-FX
after module installed
2. Power off the FNSW-1600/FNSW-2400 and remove the
unit from the 19-inch rack.
3. Release the two screws to remove the module cover.
4. Slide in the module follows the chutes firmly. Secure the two
screws.

Half-Duplex
5. Put back the switch.
6. Make the fiber connection follow the cabling guidelines
above. Note, please check the duplex mode (Full/HalfDuplex) of the device that is going to attach to and adjust
the DIP-switch.
7. Make sure the port#9 or port#13 is free. Then power on
the unit and the connected devices, the Link LED indicator
of port#9/#13 will blink “Orange” to indicate module installed
and the fiber port has detected a good link.
Note: The LINK LED indicator of port#9/#13 will shows steady
“Orange” as a good link and will blink “Orange” if there is any
network activity in this port. This is especially designed to
indicate this port is with fiber module installed. For this port,
please leave the description in the section “LED indicator” of
the switch’ s guide.
