CDJ-1000 Mk3 Upgrade Instructions: Ver 2.20
Applicable Models: CDJ-1000MK3
• System Versions later than Ver.2.20 do not require this update. Use the following
procedure to confirm the system version.
Confirm current firmware version:
• Hold RELOOP/EXIT button for over 10 seconds.
o Main version is displayed on FL display.
Note: If you have the below versions or earlier you will need to upgrade.
CDJ-1000MK3: Version 2.00 or earlier
Update Contents
• Master Tempo Quality Improved: Better preservation of sound quality while using the
Master Tempo function.
• Improved Readability of Dirty or Scratched Discs: Increases the product’s ability to
play back unclean or damaged discs. PLEASE NOTE: The update will improve the
system's capability to compensate for certain limited anomalies such as discs with minor
scratches and unclean surfaces. Discs should always be kept clean and free from
damages. Even with this update, the products may not be able to play all discs
depending on the degree of damage.
Download the Update:
• Download the (.exe) executable file. It’s named: 1000MK3_061023.exe
• If done correctly the .exe will be 0.99MB
• You now need to extract the 2 files within this .exe file, so click on the .exe file and follow
screen prompts for extraction.
• After extraction you will have 2 files that will need to be burned to CDR:

• Check the Firmware File
o Check the size of the downloaded firmware files by right clicking on the file and
selecting Properties. (Download again if the file size is different from the above
specs.)
Create the Update Disc:
• It is important to use a good quality branded blank CD-R disc or completely erased CDRW disc.
• Create the update disc by burning the file to a CD-R or CD-RW disc.
• Burn the file to the disc using disc-at-once mode (2x Speed) (The player will not recognize
the update disc and the update cannot be performed if the file is not burned correctly to the
disc.)
• Make sure that the disc session is closed / the disc is finalized.
Update your device:
• Update the firmware using the CD-R or CD-RW disc containing the firmware files.
• Perform the update following the procedure:
***IMPORTANT Note: Do not turn off or disconnect power, or remove a disc while update
is in progress ***
• While the unit is in the off position. Hold the REC MODE button and RELOOP/EXIT button
simultaneously and power up the machine.
• Do not stop holding the REC MODE and RELOOP/EXIT buttons until you see l "NO-DISC"
displayed on FL display.
• After that, please insert program disc.
o "DOWNLOAD-MAIN" is scrolled on FL display.
o It will take about 1minute for updating the player.
• After completing download, program disc is ejected automatically and "COMPLETE" is
displayed on FL display.
• Turn off the power and remove disc.
• Turn power back on and confirm firmware version same as instructed above. Confirm
firmware main version is Ver. 2.20.
• Performance check - Play CD and confirm unit works normally
NOTES
• Follow the above procedure closely to perform update.
• Never turn off or disconnect power, or remove a disc while update is in progress.
• If you have any questions regarding this procedure, consult the Pioneer service
department.
• If “ERROR” appears on the display, stop the operation, turn off the power, and consult
the Pioneer service.
