The Pink Triangle Turntable

Instructions on setting up the turntable

Before carrying out the following instructions, please place the turntable on a level surface

1)Leave the turntable transit bolt in the locked position

2)Mount chosen arm onto the arm-board according to the manufacturers instructions

3)Slip the arm-cable through the hole in the rear of the plinth adjacent to the arm-board area and then tighten the arm-board down onto the chassis. Correct torque is achieved by turning the screws until the arm-board just nips together with the subchassis and then turning the screw for one further half revolution. Do not over tighten, new sub-chassis are expensive. Do not clamp the armcable to the rear of the plinth at this stage.

4)With the sub-chassis still in the locked position, slide the bearing sleeve provided into the platter and Gently lower the platter/sleeve assembly onto the bearing spindle. Please treat it with the Greatest care as the ruby is prone to shattering if subjected to any shock on contact with the spindle.

5)With the platter and arm section still in the locked position you will have a rigid platform to work from in setting the arm height according to the manufacturers instructions.

6)Remove the platter/sleeve assembly from the spindle and place to one side. Undo the transit bolt until the arm section falls free from the bolt (the bolt can be left in place as this will not interfere with the suspensions freedom of movement). Place the belt around the platter drive-hub making sure that there are no twists in the belt and thread the cotton provided through the belt so that the ends of the cotton can be held clear of the platter perimeter. Using the cotton, stretch the belt over the pulley while lowering the platter/sleeve assembly onto the bearing spindle. Now pull one end of the cotton until the cotton comes free of the belt.

7)To set the suspension, place a medium weight record onto the platter and use the socket adjuster provided to level the platter. Levelling can be carried out using the eye or with a lightweight spirit level placed over the centre of the suspension; this area is over the transit bolt position. Turn suspension adjuster clockwise or counter-clockwise raising or lowering the platter until the platter is perfectly level. You shouldn’t need to use the adjuster at the rear of the plinth under normal conditions. However, if you feel it is necessary to use the rear suspension adjuster, this will have to be done with a flat blade screwdriver.
