If your TV has only a single Antenna In jack, you need an
ANTENNA IN
RF modulator to view DVDs
on your TV. The RF modulator
converts the video from the DVD system so it can play through the TV’s Antenna In jack. Refer to your owner’s manual for proper connection.

Playing a disc

1 Press STANDBY ON
the power.
2 Turn on your TV. Select the correct Video In channel (AV1, VIDEO, etc.) at the TV. Your
TV remote may have a VIDEO button that selects the Video In channel. If not, go to your
PLAY
lowest TV channel (1 or 2). Then press the Channel down button on your TV
until you see the DVD screen on the TV (if no Disc is in the System).
3 Press OPEN•CLOSE 0 at the front of the DVD system, load a disc in the tray
with the disc label is facing up. For double-sided discs, load the side you want to play face up. Press OPEN•CLOSE 0 again to close the disc tray.

4 Playback will start automatically, if not press PLAY B.
If a disc menu appears, use 3 4 1 2 and OK buttons on the remote (or the Number buttons) to select features or start play from the menu. Follow the instructions in the Disc menu. See the Owner’s Manual for more Disc features.

Region Codes
DVDs must be labeled for ALL regions or for Region 1 in order to play on this DVD system.
Helpful Hints
If a DVD does not play properly, please contact Philips at 1-800-531­0039 for assistance. Due to the inconsistency of disc formats provided by various disc manufacturers, your DVD system may require a playability enhancement or upgrade. As DVD technology advances, these enhancements will become common
and will be easy to complete.

5 To stop playing the Disc, press the STOP 9 button.
Setting Up the DVD system for the
First Time
1 Turn on the TV and select the correct Video In
mode.
2 Press STANDBY-ON

system, then press VCR.
3 Press 3 or 4 to select the desired language for
DVD system displays. Then press B.
4 Press P+ to start the automatic tuning process. The TV station stored
may vary according to the area you live in.
Note: After setting the AUTO TUNING process, the DVD system will memorises all the active channels even after you unplug the AC plug or power failure.

DVD Mode
Before using the remote control for DVD features, press the DVD button on the remote. The System must be in DVD mode. The DVD light will appear on the front of the System.
No picture!!
Check the AV (Audio/Video) mode on your TV.
* Usually this channel is between the lowest and highest channels and may be called FRONT,
A/V IN, or VIDEO.
*Or, you may go to channel 1 on your TV, then press the Channel down button repeatedly until
you see the Video In channel. *Or, your TV remote control may have a button or switch that chooses different video modes. * Do not use channel 3 or 4 on the TV unless you are using an RF modulator. * See your TV manual for more details.
