Motion pictures the way they were meant to be.With quality comparable
to digital studio masters, DVD delivers images of such unusually high
quality, you’ll think you’re at the movies.A standard VHS tape produces
320 pixels per horizontal line of picture definition while the new DVD
format generates 720 pixels per horizontal line, more than twice the
picture quality you’re used to.

Wow your woofers with six discrete channels of all-digital surround
sound. The Philips Magnavox DVD Video player supports all Dolby home
theatre formats: Dolby Digital (AC-3), Dolby* 5.1, and Dolby* Pro Logic.

separate, full-range left and right surround channels with Dolby Digital
(AC-3) and Dolby 5.1. Or enjoy three full-range front channels (left, right,
and center) plus surround left and right with Dolby Pro Logic.

reverberation. Just connect this output to a multi-channel receiver with
Dolby Digital decoding and get ready for sensational sound.
Supports Revolutionary New Software Features:
The Philips Magnavox DVD player supports all the revolutionary new
features which can be offered by software providers, including:
• Multi-Camera Angles – Lights! Cameras! Action! The cameramen
shoot it from different angles, but all you see is one…until now. DVD
Video puts the control in your hands, making you the director.Switch,
instantly and seamlessly, from one camera angle to the next, at the touch
of a button.
• Multilingual Sound & Subtitles – The enormous capacity of DVD
Video discs allows more flexibility than any other form of consumer
prerecorded media. Movies can now be recorded in as many as eight
languages with up to 32 different subtitle languages. You choose the audio
track language and subtitle language (if desired).
• Storyline Variations – Didn’t like the ending of the last show you saw?
With multiple storylines, DVD lets you change the outcome of the movie.
Select the storyline variation you prefer and then sit back and enjoy —
interactivity has never been this much fun.
• Multiple Picture Aspect Ratio Selection – Standard TV screens have
an aspect ratio of 4:3, but movies produced for the cinema have an aspect
ratio of 16:9 or wider.Although most movies are still shown on video in
4:3 ratio, many directors now insist on 16:9 format to preserve the original scope and spectacle of the production. That’s why some movies are
shown in “letterbox” format, with black bars at the top and bottom of
the screen. DVD gives you the choice of full 16:9 panorama or the standard 4:3 format.
• Parental Control
Do you worry about the quality of the movies your children watch? DVD
Video puts a new tool in your hands with the parental control option.
Now you can have peace of mind as your family watches only programs
within the ratings you select. Choose from standard movie ratings and
control viewing of programs based on that level.
Slow Motion, Freeze Frame,Two-Speed
Forward Scan, and Reverse
In addition to all of the revolutionary new software features available with
DVD technology, it also offers standard playback features consumers enjoy.
And, thanks to the digital aspect of DVD, standard features are greatly
enhanced, yielding rock-solid freeze frame images and crystal clear slow
motion and two-speed forward/reverse scan.
