Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Superdisk Drive Pack for the Panasonic CF-72Q notebook
computer series.
This product functions as an internal drive for a Superdisk (120 MB)*(Gr’ below “NOTE”),

when mounted in the multimedia pocket of the computer, in place of a floppy disk drive.
Store this manual in a safe place after reading it.

• Do not leave a disk in the drive while transporting your computer.
Remove a disk by pressing the eject button before your computer is OFF or enters

the suspend/hibernation mode, so the head locking mechanism may engage when
the computer is powered oR*.

• Do not remove a disk while accessing data. This may damage data on the disk,

{While accessing the disk, the access lamp ((^) lights. Be sure that the access lamp is
turned off when removing a disk.)

• Never insert foreign objects into the slot of the Superdisk Drive Pack. It may cause a

malfunction.

• Only use labels that come with disks.

• If dust has accumulated on the head surface, problems may occur when reading or writ
ing data. In this case, cleaning the drive is recommended using a cleaner kit. (SDD HCL

produced by Imation)

• During the initial 10 seconds after inserting a Superdisk or during data access, a shrill

noise may be produced. This is not a malfunction.

• Do not place the AC adapter to the front of the Superdisk Drive Pack. Magnetic noise

may cause an error.

• Do not disassemble the Superdisk Drive Pack.

<Formatting the disk>

The Superdisk Drive Pack can be used to access both Superdisks and standard floppy disks.
(It may take about 10 minutes to format the Superdisk. Because of this, be sure to disable
the power saving function beforehand.)

3 Power on your computer

Insert the device with the
label side facing up.

The computer does not recognize the
Superdisk Drive Pack.

Is the computer powered on?
If not, power on and press the eject button.
<Use the following procedure if the previous
method failed.>
To remove a disk when the computer is powered off,
insert a sharp object such as a paper clip (made straight)
into the emergency hole. Pushing the object com
pletely to the end will enable tbe disk to be removed.
However, because there is the possibility that the lock
mechanism of the head carriage may not move, do

• Lassen Sie beim Transport des Computers keine Diskette im Laufwerk.
Entfernen Sie Disketten durch Drücken der Fronttaste, bevor das Gerät ausgeschaltet

• Nehmen Sie keine Diskette aus dem Gerät, während auf das Laufwerk zugegriffen wird,

(@ ). Beim Entnehmen von Disketten darf diese Anzeige keinesfalls leuchten.)

• Führen Sie niemals irgendwelche Gegenstände in den Schlitz des Superdisk-Laufwerkes
ein, das Laufwerk kann dadurch beschädigt werden.

• Bringen Sie keinesfalls ein anderes als das mitgelieferte Etikett auf der Diskette an.

• Wenn sich am Kopf Staub angesammelt hat, können beim Lesen oder Schreiben von
Daten Probleme auftreten. Wir empfehlen in diesem Fall die Reinigung mit dem

Reinigungskit der Fa. Imation (SDD HCL).

• Während der ersten 10 Sekunden nach dem Einlegen der 120 MB Diskette oder während
des Zugriffs auf das Laufwerk kann ein durchdringendes Geräusch auftreten. Dies ist

jedoch kein Anzeichen für eine Fehlfunktion.

• Legen Sie den Netzadapter nicht vor das Superdisk-Laufwerk. Das elektromagnetische
Feld des Adapters kann andernfalls Datenfehler verursachen.

• Demontieren Sie das Superdisk-Laufwerk nicht.

<Formatieren einer Diskette>

Der Zugriff auf das Superdisk-Laufwerk erfolgt genauso wie bei einer Floppy-Disk. Gehen
Sie beim Formatieren einer Diskette im Superdisk-Laufwerk folgendermaßen vor;
(Die Formatierung der Superdisk kann ca. 10 Minuten beanspruchen. Achten Sie daher
darauf, die Energiesparfunktion im Voraus zu sperren.)

Setzen Sie das Gerät vorsichtig in das Multimedia-Pocket ein.
Fassen Sie es dazu an beiden Seiten und schieben Sie
es bis zum hörbaren Einrasten in das Gehäuse.

• Ist die Diskette verbogen, zerkratzt oder schmutzig?

• Löschen Sie das Häkchen für [Automatische
Benachrichtigung beim Wechsel] unter Optionsfeld im [Start]

- [Einstellungen] - [Systemsteuerung] - [System] - [Geräte­Manager] - [Laufwerke] - [MATSHTTA LS-120 SLIM****],
und wählen Sie [OK].

Ist der Computer eingeschaltet?
Falls nicht, schalten Sie das Gerät ein und drücken Sie die
Auswurftaste.
< Wenn das vorher beschriebene Verfahren nicht funktioniert,
gehen Sie folgendermaßen von >
Um die Ctiskette bei ausgeschaltetem Computer zu entfernen,
müssen Sie einen spitzen Gegenstand (aufgebogene
Büroklammer o.ä.) in das Loch der manuellen
Auswurf vorrichtung schieben. Gegenstand so weit wie möglich
einiühren (bis zum Anschlag). Dadurch wird die Lade entriegelt
und kann herausgezogen werden. Da jedoch die Möglichkeit
besteht, daß der Verriegelungsmechanismus des Kopfträgers
nicht korrekt arbeitet, sollte dieses Vetfahreir^^rae№ch in
Nortällen angewendet werden.

• Ne laissez aucune disquette dans le lecteur lorsque vous transportez le PC.
Retirez la disquette en appuyant sur la touche d’éjection avant de mettre le PC hors
tension ou de le mettre en mode d’attente ou d’hibernation, pour que le mécanisme
de verrouillage de tête puisse s’activer lors de la mise hors tension du PC.

• Ne retirez pas la disquette pendant l’accès aux données. Cela risquerait d’endommager

les données de la disquette.
(Le témoin d’accès ((m^) s’allume pendant l’accès à la disquette. Assurez-vous que le
témoin d’accès est éteint avant de retirer la disquette.)

• N’insérez jamais de corps étrangers dans la fente du lecteur SuperDisk. Cela risquerait de
causer un dysfonctionnement.

• Utilisez uniquement les étiquettes qui accompagnent les disquettes.

• Lorsque de la poussière s’accumule sur la surface d’une tête, des problèmes peuvent
survenir lors de la lecture ou de l’écriture des données. Dans ce cas, il est recommandé de
nettoyer le lecteur au moyen du kit de nettoyage. (SDD HCL, fabriqué par Imation)

• Pendant les 10 secondes qui suivent l’insertion d’une disquette SuperDisk ou pendant l’accès aux
données, il se peut qu’un bruit strident soit émis. D ne s’agit toutefois pas d’un dysfonctionnement.

• Ne placez pas l’adaptateur CA devant le lecteur SuperDisk. Des interférences magnétiques
risqueraient de provoquer une erreur.

• Ne démontez pas le lecteur SuperDisk.

<Formatage de la disquetto

Le lecteur SuperDisk peut être utilisé pour accéder soit aux disquettes SuperDisk, soit aux

disquettes ordinaires.

(Le formatage d’une disquette Superdisk peut prendre environ 10 minutes. Par conséquent,
assurez-vous d’avoir d’abord désactivé la fonction d’économie d’énergie.)

S’il ne l’est pas, allumez-le puis appuyez sur la tou
che d’éjection.
< Si la méthode ci-dessus échoue, suivez la procédure qui suit.

Pour retirer une disquette lorsque le PC est éteint,
insérez un objet pointu tel qu’un trombone (redressé)
dans l’orifice d’urgence. L’insertion de l’objet

jusqu’au fond de l’orifice permet le retrait de la

disquette. Veuillez toutefois n’utiliser cette méthode
qu’en cas d’urgence, puisqu’il est possible que le
mécanisme de verrouilla^e^^Pc^uiot de tête ne
puisse plus se déplacei
