INTRODUCTION
Thank you for selecting the Oregon Scientific™ WeatherNow Dynamic 4-Day Forecaster with MSN® Direct Weather Data Service (WMS802). This product is designed to receive an FM radio signal from MSN Direct. The radio signal is decoded by the unit and transforms the data into the weather information you can view on the LCD screen. When the unit receives the MSN Direct service, its clock and time zone are set automatically for your convenience.

NOTE Indoor temperature is measured by the product’s internal sensors.
NOTE After the unit is turned on, it will usually take
between 4 and 15 minutes to acquire the MSN Direct signal and obtain weather information, depending on the strength of the signal. If the weather is not displayed within 15 minutes, please ensure the antenna chord is fully extended, and either reposition the antenna or move the unit to another location with better reception.

GETTING STARTED
POWER
Insert batteries matching the polarity + and -. Press
RESET after each battery change.
NOTE For longer lasting use, the AC adapter should
be the unit’s main source of power. The batteries are for back-up use only.

ABOUT MSN® DIRECT RADIO SIGNAL
The MSN® Direct service is delivered over the Microsoft® DirectBand™ network, a wide-area network based on FM radio technology. This radio signal transmits to the unit most of the information that is displayed i.e. weather, temperature, humidity, UV, and local time with DST adjustment. For more information on MSN Direct, please visit www.msndirect.com.
When you insert the AC adapter or batteries, the unit will automatically start searching for the MSN Direct radio signal.
Weather information shows when the signal has been received. “ - - - “ shows when the signal has NOT been received.
If you cannot receive a signal:
Ensure the antenna is fully extended and try repositioning it.
Place the unit in a different location.
Make sure the unit is away from metallic or electronic
objects.
Force a signal search.
To force a search for the signal:
Press and hold .The unit will search for a signal for 15 minutes.
NOTE Signals from household devices such as doorbells, electronic garage doors, and home security systems may cause temporary reception failure. This is normal and does not affect general product performance. The reception will resume once the interference ends.
Overlapping coverage
In areas of overlapping city data coverage, the unit will automatically select data from the tower it gets the best reception from.

MSN DIRECT RECEPTION
This product is designed to synchronize its weather, time, and date automatically when it receives the MSN Direct signal.

For best reception, the clock and antenna should be placed on a flat, non-metallic surface near a window. The antenna should be placed away from electrical appliances and not be moved around when searching for a signal. Please wait at least 15 minutes for the device to acquire the signal before moving the antenna or trying the unit in another location.
To enable / disable the clock radio reception (clock synchronization):
Press and hold / .
The only appears when the MSN Direct reception is enabled.
ALARM
To set alarm 1 or 2:
1. Press ALARM to select alarm 1 or 2.
2. Press and hold ALARM to enter alarm setting.
3. Use or to change the setting. (Press and hold to speed through values.)
4. Press ALARM to confirm.
5. The setting sequence is hour and minute
CLOCK / CALENDAR
Press MODE to toggle between the following displays:
• Clock and calendar
• Sunrise time and calendar
• Sunset time and calendar
To change the clock:
(You only need to set the clock and calendar if you have disabled the clock reception.)
1. Press and hold MODE to enter clock setting.
2. Use or to change the setting. Press and hold to speed through values.
3. Press MODE to confirm.
4. The setting sequence is time zone offset, hour, minute, year, month and day.
NOTE If you enter +1 in the time zone setting, this will give you your regional time plus 1 hour.

The alarm icon will appear on the display to show which alarm has been set:

To activate / deactivate an alarm:
1. Press ALARM to select alarm 1 and 2.
2. Press or to activate or deactivate it.
To silence the alarm:
Press SNOOZE to silence it for 8 minutes. OR
Press any key except SNOOZE to turn the alarm off and activate it again after 24 hours.
WEATHER FORECAST
The large, animated weather display on the left of the screen shows the current weather. The 3 smaller weather displays show the 3-day forecast and automatically switch between displaying:

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY
The weather station displays current:
Indoor and regional temperature and trend
Regional humidity and trend
“Feels like” temperature (ie the real feel of the outdoor temperature when the wind chill and Heat Index are factored in)
UV Index
To select the temperature measurement unit:
Press °C / °F (inside the battery compartment), to the setting you want.
The trend indicator arrow shows if the temperature or humidity is:
RISING STEADY FALLING
UVI / FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURE
The unit will automatically toggle between the “ feels like” temperature and UV Index display.
The UV Index readings are as follows:
UV INDEX DANGER LEVEL 0-2 Low 3-5 Moderate 6-7 High 8-10 Very High 11 and above Extremely high
BACKLIGHT
Press SNOOZE to illuminate the backlight. Press and hold SNOOZE to turn on or off the backlight always ON function.
RESET SYSTEM
Press RESET (in the battery compartment) to return the unit to the default settings.

“Coverage Area” means the areas of the United States and Canada (exclusive of U.S. Territories and Puerto Rico) in which the Service is available using the FM Subcarrier Network – these areas may change from time to time and coverage in a given geographic region may become unavailable.
“Device” means the Weather Clock.
“FM Subcarrier Network” means Microsoft’s
DirectBand® FM subcarrier network of FM radio stations located in the Coverage Area.
“Service” means the weather information service provided via the Device according to this Agreement.
The Service and the FM Subcarrier Network will remain in operation through at least 2011, but may change from time to time. Such changes include, but are
not limited to, removal of, additions to or changes to content delivered as part of the Service and Coverage Area. We do not promise that the Service or the FM Subcarrier Network will be available all the time. The Device should show text and other content provided over the FM Subcarrier Network if the Device is appropriately produced and configured by the Device retailer. The Service does not include sending data from Devices.
The entire Service is subject to the disclaimers and limitations contained in this Agreement. Data is not necessarily real-time data.
Reception Limitations: Receipt of data is affected by the interruption of FM transmission, the relative strength of the signal, and reception limitations of the FM Subcarrier Network, as well as other factors such as your location within certain structures that may block FM signals (e.g., when you are in a garage).
The Service is only for your personal use. You will not use the Service for commercial purposes. You will not use the Service in any way that is unlawful. You may not use the Service in any way that breaches any code of conduct or other notice applicable to the Service.

PRECAUTIONS
This product is engineered to give you years of satisfactory service if you handle it carefully. Here are a few precautions:
Placement of this product on wood surfaces with certain types of finishes, such as clear varnish, may result in damage to the finish. Consult the furniture manufacturer’s care instructions for direction as to the types of objects that may safely be placed on the wood surface. Oregon Scientific shall not be responsible for any damage to wood surfaces from contact with this product.
Do not immerse the unit in water. If you spill liquid over it, dry it immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Do not clean the unit with abrasive or corrosive materials.
Do not subject the unit to excessive force, shock,
dust, temperature or humidity, which may result in malfunction, shorter electronic life span, damaged battery and distorted parts.
TITLE, QUITE ENJOYMENT, NO ENCUMBRANCES, NO LIENS AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, (2) WARRANTIES ARISING THROUGH COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE, AND (3) WARRANTIES THAT ACCESS TO OR USE OF THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE. OSI may terminate or suspend the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination of the Service, your right to use the Service will immediately cease, and OSI will have no obligation to provide the Service to you.
