Power saving switch
Battery Cover
Cleaning and Maintenance
The unit should be regularly examined for damage to the enclosure and other parts. In the event of such damage, the unit must not be used until the damage has been repaired. Wip the unit with a clean dry cloth.
• Do not get the unit wet.
• Do not dismantle the unit.
When purchased the batteries included are for store demonstration purposes only . If the display or sound is weak and unclear, please replace the batteries as indicated below.

Getting Started
Battery Installation
1. Make sure the unit is switched off.
2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, open the battery cover at the back of the unit.
3. Insert 4 "AA" batteries. (Note the correct polarity: +,-)
4. Replace the cover.
Caution
• Different types of batteries or new and used batteries
are not to be mixed.
• Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as
recommended are to be used.
• Remove all batteries when replacing.
• Remove batteries from the unit if the unit is not going
to be used for long periods.
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
• Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
• Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged. (if removable)
• Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision. (if removable)
• Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the toy.
• The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
Turn on the power using the [ON] button located on the bottom row of the keypad, hold the button down for approx.
2 seconds and the interactive set will come on. At the end of the session, remember to switch off the power using the [OFF] button located on the bottom row of the keypad.

Auto-off
The interactive set will automatically switch off after approx. 3 minutes of no input from the user.

The Keypad
The keypad includes the 26 letters of the alphabet, outlining the vowels: A,E,I,O,U, in red. The keypad works in conjunction with the activities at the Alphabet Oven.
The Music Selector
The music activity selector allows users to select which mode they wish to play by sliding the musical note up/down the cello. Mode 1 – Music Box Mode 2 – Little Composer Mode 3 – Match The Beat

Selection
There are 10 fun filled activities on the Learnington Square Interactive Set. Make your activity selection by inserting any of the 3 movable characters into the sensor spots in front of the shops.
Attempts
If a question is answered incorrectly, the shop-keepers in Learnington Square will give you the correct answer. In some activities, you are allowed 3 attempts to answer each question. After 3 incorrect answers, the shop-keeper in Learnington Square will give you the correct answer. Activities with this feature are: Match The Beat.
Help Key
Use "Help" to get the shop-keepers’ assistance in getting the correct answer to a question. In some activities, Help will give you a clue as to which key should be pressed. Activities with this function are: Match The Beat.
Repeat Key
Press the "Repeat" button to listen to the instructions/question for an activity again. In the activity Little Composer, press this key to playback your composition.

Acitivity Rules
Power Saving Switch
The power saving switch is located at the back of the unit. The purpose of this switch is to conserve battery power when the unit is not in use.
1. At the end of your session, turn the unit OFF by pressing the [OFF] button located on the bottom row of the keypad. Remove all movable characters, and turn the unit over.
2. Turn the power saving switch OFF.
3. Before beginning another session, remove all movable characters, turn the unit over.
4. Turn the power saving switch ON.
5. Turn the unit ON by pressing the [ON] button and start playing.
Note: The power saving switch must be ON before the unit is switched ON or else the unit will not function.

Get to know the people of Learnington Square

Mr. Rolland
Welcome to Learnington Square, it’s a busy day in this interactive neighborhood, let’s meet all the people who live there.
Charlie
Charlie is the mischievous little chimpanzee, he loves to run around Learnington Square tasting all the delicious goodies the shop-keepers have to offer.
Jesse Panda
Jesse is one of Charlie’s friends. This cute little panda also loves to learn about new things, and spends all his time visiting the friendly shop-keepers in Learnington Square, they always have something new to teach.
Mirabelle
Mirabelle is the adorable squirrel, she spends her time with her friends Charlie and Jesse in Learnington Square. She has fun talking to the shop-keepers about the alphabet, counting and shapes.
Mr. Rolland
Mr. Rolland is the pleasant baker, he likes it when Charlie and his friends visit, he gives them freshly baked loaves of his special Alphabet Bread, and tells them all about the fascinating letters of the alphabet.

Around Learnington Square
There are 5 sensor spots on Learnington Square, each sensor position has 2 fun activities (except The School). Activities begin when a character has been plugged into any of the sensor stations.
Ms. Jordan
Mr. Bongo
Mr. Bongo loves to dance to the beat at Bongo Beat Music. Charlie and his friends spend time listening to all the great songs Mr. Bongo has.
Ms. Hilda
Ms. Hilda is the helpful grocer, Charlie and his friends like going to her store and helping her count all the fruits and vegetables.
Ms. Tutti
Ms. Tutti owns Rainbow Candies, where all the children love to go, because its full of sweet things, like candied shapes.
Mr. Jordan
Mr. Jordan is the school teacher, he teaches Charlie, Jesse and Mirabelle about safety and good manners. The children love going to school, because Mr. Jordan makes learning fun!

Chapter 7 (Activities)
The first time a character is inserted into a sensor station, it will initiate "Activity 1" (see Chapter 7), and the second time a character is inserted, it will initiate "Activity 2" (see Chapter 7). If no characters are plugged into any of the sensor stations, Learnington Square will invite you to visit any of the stations to begin an activity.

Bongo Beat Music
The Alphabet Oven
Insert any of the characters into the sensor spot in front of Bongo Beat Music to have some music fun. Slide the mode selector up or down to play any of the 3 activities.
Mode 1:- Music Box
After greeting Mr. Bongo, follow the voice instructions and press a note button. When a note button has been pressed, Mr. Bongo will play a song specially for you.
Mode 2:- Little Composer
Press the note buttons to compose your own melody, and press the "Repeat" button to hear it played back. As you press the note buttons, the corresponding note will be displayed on the screen. To delete your melody press "C" on the letter keypad, this will erase all the notes entered, so that you can compose a new song. Please note, the Little Composer can store a maximum of 32 notes.
Insert any of the characters into the sensor spot in front of the Alphabet Oven to learn about the letters of the alphabet.
Activity 1:- Alphabet Fun
After greeting Mr. Rolland, follow the voice instructions and press a letter button. When a letter button has been pressed, Mr. Rolland will display an animation of a word which begins with that letter.
Activity 2:- Letter Guess
Mr. Rolland will display an animation, and invite you to guess which letter that word begins with.

Rainbow Candies
Mode 3:- Match The Beat
Remember the sequence of notes played by Mr. Bongo, and repeat the notes by pressing the note buttons in the order that Mr. Bongo played them. Press "Repeat" if you want to listen to Mr. Bongo’s sequence again. Or press "Help" if you need a hint.
Hilda’s Green Groceries
Insert any of the characters into the sensor spot in front of Hilda’s Green Groceries to learn about numbers and counting.
Activity 1:- Number Time
After greeting Ms. Hilda, follow her instructions and press a number button. When a number button is pressed Ms. Hilda will show how many fruits and vegetables she has in her grocery store.
Activity 2:- Fruit Salad
Count how many fruits and vegetables Ms. Hilda has in her grocery store. She will show you an animation of some fruits and vegetables, and you have to tell her how many of them there are. Enter your answer by pressing the number buttons.
Insert any of the characters into the sensor spot in front of Rainbow Candies to have fun learning about shapes.
Activity 1:- Sweet Shapes
Ms. Tutti wants to share her shapes with you, after greeting her, press a shape button to see what shapes she has to show you.
Activity 2:- Shape Search
Ms. Tutti will show you an object, and you must guess what shape it is in. To enter your answer press the correct shape button.

Trouble Shooting
Before contacting the authorized service center at (1-800-853-8883), carry out the following simple checks.
No display
Are the batteries installed properly? Do the batteries need replacing? Is the power saving switch on?
Black-out screen or abnormal display
Disconnect the power supply by removing the batteries for at least 10 seconds before connecting the power supply again.
Memory Failure
In the unlikely event that the memory becomes corrupted, reset your Learnington Square Interactive Set by:
1) Removing all batteries for at least 30 minutes.
or
2) Hold the [ON] button down for at least 3 seconds before releasing.
There are 3 sensor spots in the school, so all 3 characters (Charlie, Jesse & Mirabelle) can be inserted here at the same time.
Social Skills
Activity :- Pop Quiz
Learn about safety and good manners from Mr. Jordan. He has some fun questions to ask. Press the green triangle if your answer is Yes or the red circle if your answer is No.
